    Here in Brazil, we usually use the dancing shrimp (Lysmata wurdemanni) to combat and control aiptasias. It's excellent, devours them all quickly and also keeps the reef clean of debris

    Thanks for the video update! I’m having the exact same problem with aptasia in a 125 gallon tank. As far as Maintenance goes, automate, everything you possibly can, and have the ability to check your phone or a cloud application. It gives you a lot of peace of mind while you’re doing other things. Also, for some of the stuff you have to do like clean the glass, change filter, socks or whatever is in your schedule, I try to do it either later at night when things are quiet or early in the morning before the day starts that way during the day, you can just focus on taking care of business. I still stand behind the automation of things, all my dosing and perimeters are available including an auto feeder - I use a hydros controller if that’s any help there’s a lotta great stuff out there for that as well as the Apex. Good luck and keep us posted!

    Go get to Franks Tanks which is near you and get some of his good stuff. He has a patent on it and it seems to work. I have a filefish and he does not touch the aptasia. I have also tried peppermint shrimp and Berghia's but neither worked. I think the Nudi's might of worked but I think one of my wrasses ate them.

  • @strat1960s
    @strat1960s ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Study hard and crush the Bar. I wen't through a nasty Aptasia phase in my tank. I bought 5 medium Berghia. The shop said it can take up to two months to see a difference. While waiting on the Berghia to do their thing I got a Copperband. I had the copperband in quarantine battling ick. After two months in qt the copperband had beaten ick. I wanted to wait a few more weeks to move it to the display tank. One day it just died. It was eating and swiming around like everything was good and then it just died. I tried a majano wand. It worked pretty good. Then I got a laser off ebay and snap, crackle, pop! I killed most of the visible aptasia with the wand and the laser. The Berghia took care of all of the hidden aptasia.

    You need a copperband girl, unfortunately i live in Australia or i would give you one of mine, i have three one in each of my systems, i have also QTed a dozen or so of these fish for fellow reefers here in Australia, there are several tricks, #1 if doing tank transfer method or just medicated QT use a black tub or else it will swim at glass and injure beak, any injuries to beak = death also be careful picking one from lfs make sure it is active and interested in its surroundings looking for food, even better if eating at lfs but not likely, #2 when tying to get it to eat use fresh or frozen whole mussels , crack and thaw one put a couple of cuts in it to mae it easy to get a chunk, once you get it eating mussels use and old mussel shell and add two blocs of mysis to it and a bit of RO water and freeze, when frozen add to tank, that will wean them onto mysis, a coupe of successful mysis mussel shell episodes and you will be hand feeding mysis in no time. One copperband in your system = aptasia gone 3-4 days....

    I like Franks F aptaisa better. But both are very tricky to use. Polyps need to bee completely covered! For it not to spread. But the stuff drips like crazy. After aplied it needs to harden but it does work the best i feel that relying on creatures that may or may not feel like eating especially when they are being feed daily with other food is to much of a gamble i prefer hands on. Some creatures are great and work hard though.
