When I first benched 315 I immediately thought to myself...335 would be better..(Edit) just finished your video, apparently you thought the same thing lol.

While I can’t speak to the veracity of the statistics, what I can say for sure is good video, well edited, and congratulations on the PR. Personal best is 410 with a pause and 420 touch and go. Keep crushing it 💪

With heavier weights (315+), a lot of the struggle most people feel can be neurological and\or mental block rather than a strength issue. Learning how to breathe properly
ot overstraining and trusting your muscles can sometimes be more effective than switching up your routine all together.

315 separates the men from the boys. 225 is done--I won't say commonly--but not uncommonly. 315 is rare. Weeks can go by without me seeing it done, and mostly it's one rep with bad form. 405 is where things get truly real. In about twenty years of membership at my large commercial gym with thousands of members, I can count on one hand the number of guys who've benched 405...and all were juicing...

That same thing happened to me except for all three times the spotter touched the bar. I was so pissed and left the gym. Couple days later tried again with a different spotter, more detailed instructions and hit 335.

Nice work but, I think you fatigued yourself to much before attempting PR. i do ten reps bar only(form), 3 reps one plate, one rep two plates all with pause then PR. I think you can do MORE. Since i worry about shoulders i do complete shoulder routine prior to benching. When my PR reaches above 3.5 plates i will do one rep 315. Thats the plan that works best for me. Lock scaps, flat back, no leg drive and good pause. Clean. I know every body is different, but that just seems to be to much energy expended before trying.

The main issue with benching high numbers is that you have to train specifically for benching which is different than hypertrophy. Most people go to the gym for aesthetics so they don't just stick to barbell benching and do multiple pressing and fly variations to hit their chest at different angles. If you're training specifically for hypertrophy there's no reason to stick to one exercise and alternatively the best way to increase strength is to stick to one major compound movement in that area and progressively overload.

Perhaps you’re right, however I’ve shown what the most common consensus from online studies are and just like any topic in the world there’s always gonna be that one guy who claims there much more or less than we think but in reality in less you’ve counted by hand every person to bench 315 than I’d say 1 in 10,000 people (0.0001) is a pretty safe estimate to lean on which many online experts agree with :)
You may have some availability bias which I do touch on around 2 minutes into the video 😁

@@Brenden_Albrecht there are more than 8K recorded lifts over 315 for powerlifting alone, let alone Pro/Olympic athletes around the world. 1700 NFL players currently, and 99% are repping 225 for 15+.
