    I must be old fashioned as fuck! That Civic is fine.Slow? Ok.will it get me to my destination? Yeah!.WTF? Does every car, truck or SUV have to haul ass to do its job? Always about power, 0 to 60, acceleration sport mode etc.Geez just put 707hp in everything! People even question if a R/T, GT, or SXT is fast.I don't get it.

    It's such a damn shame that we can't get the 1.5T in the Sport trim sedan or hatchback even though the turbo was available on the previous generation Sport hatchback. I don't want to pay for all the extra fluff of the Sport Touring model that I don't care for or want. No auto Si either. C'mon Honda...

    • @moran93oscar28
      @moran93oscar28 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The SI has never been offered in automatic in its whole life, and it should stay that way. The SI is for spirited drivers.

      I agree, sport should be offered with both engines. Kinda like Accord Sport available in both 1.5T and 2.0T.

      @@moran93oscar28 That's Bull Shit. I have owned 2 manual cars in my life including the turbocharged MK7 GTI, which I owned for 3 years. I love the spiritedness of the stick, but I have since suffered from a permanent hip injury and cannot operate a clutch pedal without pain, and I'm only 32yo. No matter how bad I want the new Si, it is forbidden to me because Honda won't throw in a dual clutch or even a CVT as an option?? Having an automatic available as an option does not take anything away from the manual Si. What is your logic behind this statement?

      @@juddloader4756 I don't think Honda will have too many bugs to work out. The infotainment has been around for 3 years thanks to the 10th gen Accord and Honda has already worked out the bugs throughout the 3 years of 10th gen Accord. As for powertrain, Honda has already worked out the bugs because the 11th gen Civic has the same powertrain as 10th gen.

    Why have paddle shifters on a CVT since there are no input required from the driver to change te continuous ratio that is done automatically? For that matter, why have a tachometer on a CVT? Anyway if I were to buy a Civic I would wait for the hatchback whenever is available because of its superior cargo volume, and more attractive looks than the sedan, in my opinion, especially from the rear.

    • @samsmith3025
      @samsmith3025 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, another silly addition is having an analog speedometer next to the digital speed in the top middle.

    • @burnlikeneon4044
      @burnlikeneon4044 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is nothing "fake" about paddle shifers on a CVT. Sure, you aren't cycling through gears, but you are still moving through various positions within the engines RPM range, and are able to hold the engine at your desired RPM using the paddles, which is how a CVT works in the first place. If you are cruising along, you can use the left paddle to raise the RPMs to either engine-break or put yourself inside the torque band. What is fake about that? It's only fake if you tell yourself that you are "shifting gears." You aren't. You're just moving to a different location along the continous RPM range, but you still have direct control over your engine's RPM.
      Not to mention, the only reason paddle shifters exist on a daily economy car, whether you have a 6 speed or a CVT, is for fun. And they are fun to have on the 2022 Civic.
      That said, I still prefer a regular transmission for both performance and reliability, but the idea that paddles are "fake" on a CVT is void.

      Unfortunately yes it is slower. I have the 2022 Sport, and when I dropped it off at the dealership to have my accessories installed, they gave me a 2021 Base loaner for the day, and that thing was zippier by a considerable amount.

      Ok, I know your comment is from a year ago, but I think you’re misunderstanding what Honda is trying to do here.
      I bought a brand new 2023 Honda Civic Touring in January 2023 and I absolutely love this design! Honda is going back to their design roots, going much more conservative. You say boring, I say classic.
      It seems Honda is moving away from the “racer boy” look to a much more conservative look. With their semi-luxury interior and additional features, they’re trying to appeal more to women in their 30’s-50’s with money to spend. (Women make the majority of household buying decisions in the U.S., so appealing to women is in Honda’s best interest.) I’m a woman in my mid-40’s and absolutely love the understated new exterior and new semi-luxury interior. It also has a sort of chic Euro vibe to it.
      A lot of us DON’T want to stand out in the road with the exterior design. The more conservative exterior also is a more timeless look and will help resale value later. The “racer boy” look was a huge turn off.
      The current 11 gen Civic is designed to appeal to a wider audience, women in particular. Young men looking for performance and/or a “cool racer boy” look can look at the Si or Type R.

      @@SmartPracticeSuccessits more that they cycle between conservative and experimental between generations. Next generation will like move back to experimental/sporty... Such has been Honda's pattern for a long time. The more luxurious interior is new tho.
