It was so nice to hear the mom and daughter chat. Sky is always a bit of a mystery so its wonderful to find out she is a well spoken sweet person. Wishing you a happy and peaceful week ahead.
I find that Skye is her own person - composed and independent. She was educated in England which accounts for her proficient bilingualism. She is definitely the best of both worlds. A lovely, polite and hard-working person. More Skye please! 🙏
This is why Apiritivo is so wonderful. You can show and tell anything about everything. Today's chat with Skye was really interesting. Thanks again and again. Suzi
Honestly, there are both wonderful and not wonderful things everywhere one goes . That's the beauty of travel.... not only are there great things to see, do and eat, but also the people. Even though we are all different, in many ways we are the same and it just takes a little getting to know each other. 😍😍
I can only compare UK vs Italy in a lopsided way. I am British by birth and have lived in the USA, for many decades. I married an Italian American, who is a lot like Carlo, very friendly and loves working on projects around the house and gardening. All my friends want to ‘ borrow’ him! We have visited Italy many times and we both love the country. His grandparents emigrated to the US in the early 20th century. He has a wonderful American extended family who have always treated me so warmly . On one Italian trip we were able to visit his family of origin, who were farmers. They served us a delicious dinner that all came from the farm. They were delighted to meet us and we loved them. Because we have a tendency to talk to strangers all over the world, we have had many conversations and good experiences. Even in the UK, people seem to open up to us. However, I do find a level of reserve in the UK, that is not present in the USA or Italy. And although I still miss a few things in England, I much prefer life in the USA. I also learned to ‘cook Italian recipes and often make my own pasta and traditional holiday foods. So my kids grew up with mince pies and iced cake at Christmas and ricotta pie and pizzelles at Easter!
Love the banter between you and Skye 😊 nice to get your opinions of the difference between the two countries. Nice to see Skye ❤ thank you Nicki and Skye 🤗❤ much love!
That was nice visiting with Sky. She has always seemed so shy and said very little in other videos. She is a young lady now and her hair has grown soooo long from when she cut it several years ago.
It's the tumble dryer. It makes all the difference, Nicki. I'm in Greece and whenever I dry clothes on the line, they're much harder than when tumble-dried.
Thank you Nicki and Skye for the chat .When I wash my towels to rinse them in the washer ,I don't use softener I use white distilled vinegar it works for me .
What a lovely mother daughter chat! Nikki, you must be a very proud mama as I'm sure yours is... You bring us great content in the glimpses of your life. Much love to all from Carmel by the Sea xoxo
That was so nice to see you and Skye together there in England and having a chat and sharing it with us. Thank you and may you both have safe travels back to Italy. I think your dad will feel lonely the house will feel big now that the two of you have left. Your dad is a lovely person. Have a lovely day.
How lovely when Skye called Nicki Mummy..I am very nearly 59 and still refer to my parents as Mummy & Daddy..Daddy passed away in 1998..Mummy is in a home in South Wales..she is 91..
Thank you Nicki & Skye for the chat. Regarding hard water in Italy, I will never forget my first trip to Italy in 1970 and bringing my shampoo that I was using in NYC, where we have soft water. I washed my hair and the shampoo would not rinse out. From that experience, I learned that no matter where you travel use the local shampoo, for example in a hotel, which is formulated for that local water. Safe travels!
Now that was a fascinating discussion. Regarding towels, I read recently that we shouldn't use products to soften the towels in the first place - despite the pictures on the front of soft fluffy towels etc.
A thing that shook me last year when I stayed in my house in Kingston, is how quickly night falls and so early compare to Normandy. The comparisons you made are very similar to mine. When I moved to Kingston in 73 it was so different, it was like a village where everyone knew people, but no longer. It is like a foreign town to me now....Drivers politeness and being courteous is unknown in France, as for customer service, the less said the better....Still, very blessed with the river walks and all the parks. Lovely to see Skye and get a glimpse of your Dad. Great little video, thank you.
Skye is A mini- me Carlo face in Nicki body skin and hair .... beautiful blend .... and I love the Tea for today ..... 😊😋🙏🏻❤🇧🇷 PS: Have a safe trip gals ...🕊
Lovely chat today ladies, thank you for sharing with us. I love hearing about the differences between countries. Looking forward to seeing the both of you in Tuscany.
I have the same water issues, so I add vinegar as the softener. And use woolen balls with jasmine oil (just a drop) Love the mother daughter review ! Glad you had time with Dad/Harry
My biggest observation about England vs mainland Europe (we moved from Uk to Spain) is Brits are POLITE, Italians and Spaniards are KIND. Brits are not kind warm hearted people but they have good manners which tricks people in to thinking they’re kind, when they really aren’t. Italians and Spaniards are not overly polite or nice manners wise, but they are so very very kind. If you need something they’ll help you with their full hearts. If someone loses their home or crashes their car or needs a child taken care of they’ll rally around and do everything to help as a community. So very very kind and authentic.
I see your point, but I don't think it is good to generalise. I know some lovely Italian people, but I have also heard of absolutely terrible treatment in Italy. One is in which the utterly cruel and barbaric ways in which women have been treated in Italian hospitals whilst giving birth and after birth. I have friends who just can not talk about the treatment without breaking down and crying. I also remember a video in which Nikki came out of an office distraught and crying bc of her treatment in there. Not all Italians are kind. Some, in fact, can be very cruel. They are kind and not so kind people in every country.
Everyone's experience is different. My Italian father and his family treated my mother like absolute s**t but an ex English boyfriend of mine was the kindest person I've ever met lol
Skye is a beautiful, composed and lovely young lady, I am a vivid follower of Positano Diaries so this was so wonderful to see and hear from Skye. I live in Canada but am British/Italian and I relate on so many levels to Positano Diaries, so thank you for these videos, they bring much joy to so many so far away. What bothers me most in Italy is the crazy Bureaucracy in Italy and too many rude assistants in big stores. Thank you all again for every week making me smile
Oh my gosh!!! This is probably my favorite video cuz it’s the most I’ve seen Sky! I love her accent! She seems so fun! Would love to see more of her for sure!
The key to soft towels is to AVOID fabric softener, hot wash (removes detergent residue), dilute detergent, baking soda with wash, and as you said Tumble Dry.
I wouldn't agree.. the key is softener and drying in a shade . I never tumble dry my towels, and they are beautifully soft. As she said, water is the most important thing. If it's too hard, you can't do much as it stays in a towel and makes it hard no matter what you do I am glad if your way works for you 🙂
My experience in London, as an Australian, has been that people are quite harsh and not friendly at all- except when you’re at a restaurant or cafe, even then they’re sometimes under the gun. Particularly when I’ve visited in winter people seem particularly miserable. I feel I need to go in peak summer- as I haven’t in my trips- and that they’ll be more friendly then? My husband lived there for a few years and loved it. I’ll add I’ve only visited London city. Whereas every time I go to Italy- wherever there- everyone is so friendly, especially so. Food wise- I’ve found it harder to find good food whereas in Italy it’s easy. I do research so I’m not going to the tourist traps. As an Australian though, we do like culinary/ food diversity so London definitely has more diverse food. Also we’re a bit spoilt in Australia for fresh produce. Plumbing isn’t always great in Italy, I never had instructions next to the toilets in London to put the toilet paper in the bin not the toilet. Seperate taps seem a thing in London? Italy is my favourite country and culture but I really want to travel more in the UK.
One thing I notice about your videos in Italy is that the neibours all help each other sadly the UK is not like that anymore neibours don’t even know each other . I lived in Germany many years ago and the neibours all helped each other . As for hard towels I live in Bedfordshire and the water is very hard , our towels are also stiff as boards 😆. As for the heating many people in the UK can’t even afford to put their heating on it’s so expensive . You both find our supermarkets good but I find Italy still has naturally grown local food which is what a lot of the UK is now going back to because we are sick of being ripped off by supermarkets . I often wonder why sky was sent to a British school when she was brought up in Italy im sure their schools are very good our education system is sadly lacking now . I enjoyed your comparisons when I lived abroad and used to visit England it’s like we see things through 5he eyes of a tourist I think it’s called reversed culture .
Awe, nice seeing Skye again. 👋 The subject of different attitudes in different locations, I was reminded of this Russian channel I follow on YT. He said once that Russians don't greet you on the street like Americans do, like with a hello, or smile. To acknowledge your existence, they consider it "foolish". That always stuck in my memory because it DOES make sense. I don't know how many times in life I was nice to someone in the store or somewhere else and then they later on they cut me off in traffic or I somehow regret it somewhere else.🤣. I STILL am nice because that is my personality. You can just tell who is receptive to a smile or "hi" and who is giving "leave me tf alone" vibe. 😁
My Dad employed a lot of Italians in his factory in Australia and i allways found them so friendly and fun. Very family oriented and hard working. I loved England and felt very much at home there when i travelled with my parents in the 70’s era. My grandfather was a jeweller from Birmingham before he emigrated to Australia. He died in 1917 leaving 6 sons for my poor old Nanna to bring up!😢 Lovely to see Skye with her beautiful long hair! Happy travels to you both☀️🦘🌿🏖
That was lovely! Thanks to Sky for her perspective, it was really interesting and so nice to see her! ❤ I guess every place has its advantages and unique appeal and there will always be things that you miss from other places. You guys are pretty fortunate that it's so easy to travel to very different countries! As much as I appreciate my home country of Aotearoa/New Zealand, one does feel a little isolated and it's a big deal and expensive to travel to Europe.
Try putting a 1/4 cup of white vinegar in when you wash your towels. It softens them up. Works great to keep the musty smell away too! (No, they won’t smell like a salad)
Add White vinegar to the wash & the towels will be softer. Plus vinegar is antibacterial so it kills any germs on them. Of course you need to wash them with laundry soap too
The towels need to be tumble-dried, thats the only way to make them soft, its the action that help the fibre fluff You can add fabric softener, but then the towel will be less absorbent, this is a fact. You need to get a large tumble dryer, not a size that will suit two people, it's to small. You will then be able to tumble your quilts also. Remember, you cant put a washer full of cloths all in the tumble dryer, not enough room to tumble them, so when finished washing a full load, take it out and half it, then tumble half at a time, it will enable everything to tumble dry faster, and won't wear out you dryer.
I loved this lil chatty video. A lot of the ways from England we do in Canada, we say sorry all the time also, we say thank you a lot but less in big cities. I grew up in a smaller city so we tend to say thank you a lot more. Towels are soft also in Canada, just depends which kind you buy and its true if you live in the country the water is harsher. Costumer service has to be top also in Canada also, its plain rude to be ignored. If you decide to visit Canada one day you will see.😊 Someone bumps into me at the store or on the street I say sorry and they say sorry.😂
Put some white vinegar in the rinse cycle and see if that helps soften the towels. We don’t use fabric softener but do tumble dry towels and they are soft. Maybe the vinegar would help!
yess I started doing this as well, putting vimegar into the machine AND as a fabric softener as the softeners contain so many chemicals I recently read! They still smell nice as well with vinegar!
Skye is so well spoken, she can organize her thoughts and explain things easily. Just like her Mom!. I really enjoyed this episode. I'm Italy all the way. Nicki should learn about moctails that we're doing in the US. If I go out and don't want an alcohol drink I can pay 8 bucks for a lovely drink which is mostly made from the fresh ingredients that Nicki has growing in her garden.
Skye looks much like her dad; thanks for your realistic viewpoints of the pros and cons between the two most beautiful countries of this world beside my own 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷 it’s really honest and sincere content 🌻🌻🌻😂🌻🌻 really much appreciated Italy 🇮🇹 and 🏴
I’ve lived in Italy and in England and I have to say that your observations are really accurate! I was literally nodding along. I currently live in campania and the lack of choice when it comes to food products just kills me. Probably I did not have a good experience with the heating in the UK but the rest is spot on! Love both of your channels 😊
So nice to see more of sky. That was very interesting to see the differences between Italy and England. I would really love to go to Italy to do thrift shopping as I watch another gal who is TH-cam is about thrift shopping in Italy. But at 82 in a wheelchair I Don't Get Around Much anymore. LOL I really appreciate your new video blessings and love from New Mexico
Great discussion. :) I love Italy (and Europe for that matter)... but the UK, and England, has always had my heart. 😊❤ (Words from a 'merican, married to a Cornishman.)
How fun! Thanks for this informative chat that allowed us to see the ease and energy between you as adults. You've helped me understand the brusqueness in the Italian shops in my Providence RI USA neighborhood. I try to frequent the friendlier one.
❤❤❤😊😊💕💯lovely to hear nicky and skye 's chat as a dual national i totally agree with all points best of both homesick for fresh pomodoro mozz in england but homesick for walkers crisps and peppermint aero choc in italy lol GRAZIE MILLE XXXXX BUON VIAGGIO RAGAZZE ❤✈🌞☕🍰
Wonderful to see mom and Skye chat. She is so gorgeous and like able. Surprised how English Skye's accent is. Much heavier than mom but lovely none the less. Just need to pay more attention. Great duo. Cheers.
Skye looks like her dad Carlo😍
Except prettier and more sophisticated. Did I say prettier? I think I did.
Yes she does.
I was thinking the same thing.
What a surprise :)
More sophisticated? The father is much more sympatico,he is a real nice man but sorry she looks a bit fed up all the time ,I think she doesn't like to be filmed which I understand@@Steve757-fl1hd
It was wonderful to watch this chat between mother and daughter. It is good to hear Skye speak, she has a lovely accent.
I see so much of Carlo in Skye. How fun this chat was.
What a lovely chat! Skye has grown into such a lovely and poised young woman. So nice that the two of you could have some time together!
It was so nice to hear the mom and daughter chat. Sky is always a bit of a mystery so its wonderful to find out she is a well spoken sweet person. Wishing you a happy and peaceful week ahead.
I always thought she'd be a lovely girl as she has nice parents. She went to school in England so has had good experience of both cultures.
I find that Skye is her own person - composed and independent. She was educated in England which accounts for her proficient bilingualism. She is definitely the best of both worlds. A lovely, polite and hard-working person. More Skye please! 🙏
The only problem with this episode is that it was too short!😍😍😍😍😍
yes 😄 , it feels like 2 min.
Agreed 💯 👍 💯 ❤❤❤❤
Mother daughter chat much appreciated!
I like Skye’s English accent whilst speaking English.
I noticed the same 😉 whilst she was speaking.
This is why Apiritivo is so wonderful. You can show and tell anything about everything. Today's chat with Skye was really interesting. Thanks again and again. Suzi

It was lovely to really meet Skye and listen to her. Of course I have seen her in Positano on the channel, but she comes across very very well.
That was nice visiting with Sky. She has always seemed so shy and said very little in other videos. She is a young lady now and her hair has grown soooo long from when she cut it several years ago.

it's so lovely to chat with Skye! Hope you both had a nice trip
Skye is just stunning!!
Like mother, like daughter ...you are both gorgeous, smart, kind and well spoken.
You got smart and kind from bed sitting observation????
@
No, my observations are from many videos, not just this one.
Lovely chat today ladies, thank you for sharing with us. I love hearing about the differences between countries. Looking forward to seeing the both of you in Tuscany.
Great list. Truly highlighting the best of both worlds 🇮🇹 🇬🇧
I have the same water issues, so I add vinegar as the softener. And use woolen balls with jasmine oil (just a drop) Love the mother daughter review ! Glad you had time with Dad/Harry
That was a fun chat, mother and daughter.
Safe flight to you both❤
Ah that was lovely chat with Skye. Both beautiful ladies 🥰 I am really enjoying this new channel 😊
I love when Skye pops in❤❤❤❤❤
Skye is not so camera shy after all. Natural beauties you both..more chats please
Variety is the spice of life
Nice to see mom and daughter together ❤❤❤❤
Really good chat. The -ace was just right. You both speak clearly and fluidly. I worked for years in presentation and speech training. Thanks.
What a treat to hear from Skye!
I liked this comparison between countries, that’s what makes life interesting ❤
What a lovely chat with you and Skye!!! Hope you are both well and happy!❤❤❤
Love the mother daughter chat. Two lovely women with insights to the differences between England & Italy.
I agree, it's the difference between genuine warmth and superficial politeness.
It's not what people say, it's how they make you feel
🥰🇨🇦 Skye is such a mixture of you both!
Skye is so lovely and well spoken ❤
Haha. I remember the towels in the rental we had in Italy. Yes, Skye is right, sandpaper.
Great vlog. Nothing better than a mother daughter chat
Oh my gosh!!! This is probably my favorite video cuz it’s the most I’ve seen Sky! I love her accent! She seems so fun!
Would love to see more of her for sure!
Love seeing you and Sky together talking. America, well, where I'm at, we are very polite also, I enjoyed this video.
Americans are sooooo much more friendly than Brits.
Depending on where you live in America. South Florida not so nice. I live in south Florida but I lived in Texas and people are nice very nice 👌

I think with the towels, it is the sunshine that makes them feel so hard. Nice to see you two girls together.
Love your thoughts and conversations Skye is a beautiful young woman
My Dad employed a lot of Italians in his factory in Australia and i allways found them so friendly and fun. Very family oriented and hard working. oh this was lovely. Skye is stunning and very elegant. She looks and sounds like a young Alexa Chung xx
Thank you for the video, Nicki. I really enjoyed it.
Yay!!! Happy Wednesday!!!

If I go out and don't want an alcohol drink I can pay 8 bucks for a lovely drink which is mostly made from the fresh ingredients that Nicki has growing in her garden.
The towels tend to be hard because of the water but also because people usually don’t use a tumble dryer🤷🏻♀️which as you say really softens them👍
If you hang your towels out but still have a tumble dryer, after your towels are dry on the line, give them a tumble to soften. It works!!
@ yes, in fact every once in a while that’s what I do.
Skye looks much like her dad; thanks for your realistic viewpoints of the pros and cons between the two most beautiful countries of this world beside my own 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷 it’s really honest and sincere content 🌻🌻🌻😂🌻🌻 really much appreciated Italy 🇮🇹 and 🏴
Sky, can’t believe how your hair has grown. It looks beautiful. ❤️👍❤️
More skye please! See is a joy so educated in life a true joy to listen too
Great discussion.
Hi beautiful people love the comparisons England and Italy ❤😊
❤❤❤😊😊💕💯lovely to hear nicky and skye 's chat as a dual national i totally agree with all points best of both homesick for fresh pomodoro mozz in england but homesick for walkers crisps and peppermint aero choc in italy lol GRAZIE MILLE XXXXX BUON VIAGGIO RAGAZZE ❤✈🌞☕🍰
Love this. Thanks for sharing!❤❤
Wonderful to see mom and Skye chat. She is so gorgeous and like able. Surprised how English Skye's accent is. Much heavier than mom but lovely none the less. Just need to pay more attention. Great duo. Cheers.
The Italian towel is made that way in order to help with skin exfoliation, while drying 😉❤ Thank you, Ladies
That was so nice for you to have a chat with Skye. She is a lovely young woman! ❤️
That was interesting, especially about the rivers and lakes!
That was a very nice discussion , not an interview and so pleasant. It was very informative and thank you for that.
Lovely episode, thank you!!
You are both so lovely. Safe journey ladies.
