The war to end war is over, ragtime is becoming a distant memory and now we are really enjoying our syncopated tunes. Swing is just around the corner. A great rendition. Thank you.
Great video -- thanks for all the songs and history this year and best wishes for a wonderful 2025! Lots of good stuff goes into the public domain today, including the novel The Maltese Falcon, the first Marx Brothers feature film, and the song SIngin' in the Rain. I wasn't aware of the Anything Goes version with Frank Sinatra and Ethel Merman. I look forward to checking it out. I don't know that any version of Anything Goes had a plot that is worth caring about, but all versions have great Cole Porter music (different songs in different productions). -- Steve
Thanks, Steven, for being a loyal listener! I'll have to work on "Singing in the Rain" and "When My Dreams Come True" from The Coconuts--I love the Marx Brothers, and Mary Eaton, the ingenue in The Coconuts, is my prototypical model of a 1920s musical theatre soprano (she was a star of the Ziegfeld Follies too!).
I've heard so many instrumental jazz versions of Cole Porter songs. It's cool to hear a nice vocal rendition of this song. It really gives a fresh perspective.
Just discovered your channel and subscribed! Love the concept and appreciate the thorough research that goes in to your video descriptions. Enjoyed the Cole Porter tune and Happy Public Domain Day!
Thank you! Yes, that's a good point that Gershwin too was influenced by his experiences in Paris (hence "An American in Paris"). I really enjoy Rhapsody in Blue too, though I am not the virtuoso I would need to be to play it!

Thank you, thebearandher! Yes, we can hear how Cole Porter's music would become a favorite for jazz musicians!

You know your music history. Gershwin went to Paris. Rhapsody in blue is a fantastic piece.
