John Mcgeoch, the magic wand of the eighties. Budgie is, along with S. Morris of NO, one of the most sorely underrated drummers ever. Siouxsie and the Banshees was a waterfall of talent.
The drums are intense and tribal ... what a performance!!
The drummer and the rest of the whole band they just have a mesmerizing sound.
Budgie is at the top of his game here…the drumming propels this song
John McGeoch was the best guitarist the Banshees ever had. His playing was mesmerising. I had the album Juju back then and was blown away!
Yeah but The Banshees were musically ahead of their time pre
John McGeoch rip.🤘
Heck yeah the dude is insane.
Like totally!
He was one of the best guitarists anyone had.
John McGeoch passed way too early
Every element is perfection in this.
That hip shake at 1:34. Her moves entrance me!
Simply stunning, best version of spellbound and siouxsie is gorgeous
John McGeoch rules! 🎸
Ive been an avid fan of SatB for about 30 years and it never gets old...RIP John...
Favorite song...Nightshift
John McGeoch, absolute legend.
@LoudProudNPunk1 I was 4 at that time, still I discovered them in 1993, & have been a big fan ever since. They're fucking amazing, Siouxsie is a Goddess of destruction!
Does anybody else find budgie cute as hell?!!!!!!!
Siouxsie must've. ;)
he was always a cutie
John McGeoch..None better
Voz impecável e grande presença de palco.
The Great Goddess!!! 👸👍 😍😍😍👎👏👏👏!!! Greetings from Poland with Broken Love 💔💘😍😘😘😘!!!
Best live band I have ever seen...
Wow, that f*ckin' rocks!
I'm entraunced
its a gift
mcgeochs book is a great read
Fucking epic track!
McGeoch and the others are great, as expected, but Budgie is shredding that kit...did it survive the show?
goth queen 🦇
Theda Bara, anybody?
very vamp
🌹🔥🔥👌🌟🇪🇦♥️🖤
@tdoesntmatter Sorry I think my comment could easily and was taken the wrong way. I love Siouxsie and the Banshees. Have all their stuff on Vinyl. Only got to see then once on their 1983 Australian tour.
Those were the days. Today's yunguns have no idea ....
Just text homes n yes life is sweet not mud but this is wat time it is
The studio version is weak in comparison
*Who else here believes that 'The Banshees' stopped being an 'authentic' band once McKay and Morris 'left' the band. They really started on the trajectory towards the 'Goth' band for which they're really renowned (which is fine, in itself)*
Mcgeoch created magic on the guitar, one of the best ever
Best performance of Spelllbound I've ever heard
Yep. pretty close to what it sounded like, when I saw them live that same year. McGeoch and Budgie were different class. Best live band I have ever seen.
Such powerful live performers! Spellbound is an understatement. In my opinion, nobody else from the movement in England at that time had a better live presence.
Killing Joke were a fucking awesome live band around this time too.
Listen to McGeoch's guitar, it's fucking fantastic!
absolute fantastic quartet .siouxsie mcgeoch severin budgie. all top class.
All 4 of them knocking the fuck out of it !
Talent to burn, what an extraordinary band, best ever Banshees line up, McGeoch is different class.
I love McGeoch but for fuck sake i wish people would give more credit to Budgie & Severin who are just as amazing.
I agree that Budgie and Severin were also fantastic, but you cannot deny that this song and the album Juju - which I consider to be their finest - were highlighted by McGeoch´s exceptional guitar playing.
@@salsabil44 I do agree but i also believe Scream is one of the greatest punk albums ever and that was with John McKay on guitar and Kenny Morris on drums!!
I think JM being drafted in & his work rate (which looks effortless when you watch him , like he was on tickover) brings out the very best of Budgie and Sev. They realise he's THAT good that they have to put in a further 25-30% on top of their usual contribution
They were at their absolute peak with that line up. Saw them live every year from '78 - 82. McGeogh was perfect in the Banshees.
My favourite guitarist of all time he just had something else that nobody could match. Taken way way too soon. RIP John
Totally agree with you. McGeoch was bloody awesome.
100% He brought high agressive energy, riff machine.
Agreed and badly missed ❤️🙏
Your spot on there.....
But l did enjoy Robert Smith stepping in 😎
At 2:26 the sound of Severin's bass with McGeoch's guitar they truly were at their very best.
John Mcgeogh
McGeogh sounds and looks CAF making those sounds without moving his fingers 🙂
The guy on the guitar is fabulous
John McGeoch ❤ Now sadly passed. You are right he was absolutely an amazing talent we all miss him hugely thank goodness he has left a stunning legacy
She's still the most beautiful iconic most individual original kooky female vocalist out there. Love her.
When I think kooky I think Nina Hagen but that is just me.
@@SummonSkeletons That woman is just the personification of the word 'what?' lmao
Garbage 1996 on Saturday Night Special doing Only Happy When it Rains. Good god if Shirley isnt the most perfect female and female vocalist of that time then I don't know anything at all. Link below or do the search in you tube if you prefer.

Im lovin it like that
I can’t believe this song is from 1981, song was absolutely ahead of its time. Love this band.
Way way way ahead of their time. I appreciate it more than ever.
Such an amazing voice. So sad I never got to see them
RIP John ❤ I loved the band Magazine that he was in before the Banshees and again, it was McGeoch's guitar playing that caught my attention!
Genius!
Mcgeoch. What else!
Still gives me goose bumps. Miss you John
they are absolutely slaying in this concert. ❤
McGeoch is magnificent!
Beyond! The three albums he performed on were magnificent!
McGeoch!!!!!
Immortal performance.
The absolute definition of a band.
They're all their own experience entity, really.
Great form!
Her vocals are excellent here, good sound mix too.
Wow... I forgot what a great band they are/were, Haven't listened to them in years. What a time that must have been, too bad i was only one year old during that show.
How they didn't rule the world at that time is beyond me ,john mcgeoch was a genius
McGeoch was a great player
One of the best videos of this song and this band on the internet. Great guitar makes this song and the fantastic album Juju.
Powerful Band with an amazing a unique guitar sound.
By god, were we ever spoiled or not. Wtf do the kids have now ?
Siouxie was there first. Keep going Florence, one day you'll get there...
different class to the shite nowadays😊
Creativity crafted by a brilliant lead guitarist! He made the band what they are! Sadly creativity ultimately is eventually consumed! His time was his time, still sadly missed though!
While McGeoch lineup was fantastic they made great songs before him and afterwards. I think this was the peak of their career but there's so much awesome stuff where John didn't even play.
@@nylonnerves8422, absolutely -- great songs before and after. But I agree -- this was their peak. There was only one McGeoch.
Great lead guitar
they are playing so tight here fantastic.
@TakeMeBackTo1986 No, it's John McGeoch, RIP. THE Banshees Guitarist.
Why are Siouxsie and the Banshees so fantastic ?
Heroin!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Way ahead of their time!
Play that guitar boy
Siouxsie forever!!!
Shes a fucking queen
Non è cambiata è sempre lei la pantera della dark wave lunga vita Siouxsie
It's... Just... The best song ever!! 👌
Mcgeoch was a god.
Wow miss ballion is awesome
she wore the wrong shirt though, i thought this was punk?
The shirt was made to advertise their single Israel
too great to get a single dislike
She is fuckin amazing
Beyond Wow!!!
queen
This song was in the movie "Doomsday". Hope they got some royalties for it.
@HitchHikersBlues He's the late John McGeoch. R.I.P.
@decaysvegan Because of Steve Severin and John Alexander McGeoch
kiss them for me
Real thing purfect
She's a one-off
Just listening to Budgie on drums and McGeoch on guitar was nothing short of amazing. Those two for me really carried the sound of the Banshees
My first thought was ... What a great performance.
My second thought was... 0:44 Is that Adam Clayton from U2?
From the cradle bars
Comes a beckoning voice
It sends you spinning
You have no choice
You hear laughter
Cracking through the walls
It sends you spinning
You have no choice
You hear laughter
Cracking through the walls
It sends you spinning
You have no choice
Following the footsteps
Of a rag doll dance
We are entranced
Spellbound
Following the footsteps
Of a rag doll dance
We are entranced
Spellbound
Spellbound
Spellbound, oh, oh, oh
Spellbound
Spellbound
Spellbound
Spellbound
And don't forget when your elders forget
To say their prayers
Take them by the legs
And throw them down the stairs
When you think your toys
Have gone berserk
And it's an illusion
You cannot shirk
You hear laughter
Cracking through the walls
It sends you spinning
You have no choice
Following the footsteps
Of a rag doll dance
We are entranced
Spellbound
Following the footsteps
Of a rag doll dance
We are entranced

Of a rag doll dance
We are entranced

Nice just noticed Budgie played it different then what I thought it was. So basically for 40 years I’ve been playing it wrong🤔or was I there’s a vid where he did exactly what I thought was right. The chugga chuck, chugga chuck chuk
Sounds IDENTICAL to the audio. You know, like how music should sound lol.
Yeah simoom37, I agree. I think all good art, deosn't matter if its Music, Painting, Writing, or whatever, must come from a place wthin. Working this way results in art forms with true integrety
@decaysvegan I think i's because they're rough & instinctive, it's coming right from their bowels. That's how I see it
is that Robert Smith of THE CURE on guitar? LOL! wow if its him... no makeup and his hair is not up high! xD
DR. HOUSE M.D. nope. It's John McGeoc
lol
@clarkko1000 I'd be right behind you - wait that came out wrong...
Oh Siouxsie I love you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Awesome composition.
❤️💋💋 my queen Siouxsie 💋👍
What a band.
