Before the show came out my older brother told me that when he read the end of the book where Inman was killed he threw the book down on the floor in response to the death. So I knew that he would be killed in the movie. What a great movie!
I appreciate how the movie shows Inman's proficiency at killing in a subtle way, it's more of a love story instead of a war movie after all. I mean shoot, he survived 3 years of the Civil War, so he probably killed dozens of hardened soldiers whereas his enemies in this scene fought no one but defenseless men and women
Part of me thinks this movie could have been way better if they made the audience think Inman died from his injuries but then afterwards showed them all happy at the picnic, with Inman alive. Could just be my wishful thinking though.
