    There is a way to adjust the tachometer for 0$. It has a potentiometer on the back of it. You need to pull the cluster gauge, pull the glass in front of it, remove the screw at the back of the cluster that hold the tacho in place. Once the tacho is removed from the gauge cluster, you'll see a small blue potentiometer at the back of it, turn it almost all the way to the left, reassemble it and test it. It should read close to the real engine speed. I had to do it several time to adjust it. I'm only 200 to 300rpm off at 8000 rpm when I compare the tacho with the hks type 0 I have.
    Same thing with the speedo, if you ever change the final drive ratio, you can tune the speedo with it.
    As fo the clutch fan, it's possible to install it if you run mckinney mount and you don't use a 60mm radiator. I have a 32mm copper one and the clutch fan fits with some trimming of the back of the blades to avoid the damper because you need to bolt the fan on the other side of the clutch.

      Do McKinney mounts push it back further towards the firewall?

    • @n14m0R34
      @n14m0R34 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Compared to an R32 crossmember yes, the engine can't be much more toward the firewall with the mckinney mounts, i could barely pass my hand behind the engine, and you need to make way toward the starter bulge on the firewall.

    Hey Kalvin, I just watched this video again for about the 20th time. It has been about 12 months since I watched it. I think it is still the best rb swap info for this chassis. I have just finished my RB20det swap in my 1986 VL Commodore in Australia. I am running a Haltech Elite ECU and 1000cc injectors and a rb25 turbo and front mount intercooler. I am only looking at about 400 hp once I update the turbo. I have bought some little 2.0 badges to put on the front fenders.That way when I blow the doors of some of the V8 boys I can point to the 2.0 badges and make them feel even more shit. Also been watching your restoration series on the GTR. That is a great series Also. Have a great day Mate. And keep on killing it with the videos. Cheers Mark.

    I just bought a '91 s13, pretty clean with no rust (thank god🙌🏼) but it was sitting out for a while so that's one thing. Bought it for $2500 and I'm happy with it. All stock and I don't have lots of money laying around so I was thinking of doing a rb20 swap. I'm not looking for insane power to destroy evos or drag race people but I just want 300-400 hp to enjoy and feel that power. Sure I'll race friends and all but nothing serious so I guess a rb20 motor with all included like you said for $1500 is a pretty good deal. Where did you buy yours? Please tell me so I can go see and finish my build. Thanks and awesome vids man👍🏼

      +Kalvin Malli (ThatBurgundy240) - Just as a thought always remember that a Sr20det is a direct bolt in (still need supporting mods Radiator , electric fan (not required but nice to save room and get a little free HP) ) but the Rb's require different mounts and at the cost of 3-400$ you end up at about the same price give or take (not saying it's better just saying that there's less involved to get a SR installed) I even used my Ka exhaust at first (hollowed out the cat, strait piped the resonator and made the down pipe) so I saved money there also. Downside of SR 6cylinders means less stress per cylinder so potentially (if u can get the RB head heavily modified to flow as well or better) the RB has a higher HP potential as a daily driver (also stroker option 2.5/2.6 liter)

    Hey, I heard you mention in your video your wipers not working and getting stuck up... there is a control box for the wipers that if you take it apart and resolder the connections inside it will fix the wipers. I have a rb20 in my s13 and the same thing happened. It was really annoying and took a while to figure out why.

    Is it antilag or why does it backfires ?

    • @gearheaddan819
      @gearheaddan819 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      He's probably running rich, like 12:1 a/f ratio. And that excess fuel that wasn't burnt in the pistons goes out to the exhaust and reignites when it reaches the end of the tailpipe. Most cars that are road going don't usually have antilag because it's extremely loud and you get terrible fuel economy because what it is is in race cars that have turbos, when they want to shift, they lose boost because the rpms drop. So anti lag is a computer controlled input when the driver puts the clutch in, it sends a signal to the engine to cut ignition

    • @KalvinMalli
      @KalvinMalli  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Daniel Estrada (tacoman23) Not running rich. Its common for 90s nissan ECUs.

    • @Jez3134
      @Jez3134 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Timmy Telebrant Stock 90s Nissans run very rich, a safety precaution from Nissan, they just dump fuel to keep them safe underload. R33s blow flames out the back on decel. That's why they pick up a good increase in power and get better economy after a retune with Nistune or PowerFC

    • @Matt_Lanzer_13
      @Matt_Lanzer_13 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      King Vega02 yes an rb will fit into an s14, and like kalvin said, the 20 is great for the near stock thing. He had a 100% stock motor with a front facing intake manifold, a big top mount turbo, ecu and injectors and made about 400 wheel. The 20’s are super reliable right around there. You can push more power with cams and more tuning but it’s not necessary for that level. If you want 500 plus get an rb25 neo, they’re the best 25. Same rods as the 26, variable cam timing, etc. for the 25 or 26 however, they need some reliability mods. look up lone star drift (and search for the jake Jones drift squid rb video) on TH-cam... he has a whole video on building a reliable rb.
