Played Timespinner some two years ago on PC and it was a BLAST! I just love this game. Music, Pacing, Gameplay & Gameplay mechanics, our heroine it all fits so perfectyl together. I had more fun with this game than with many other AAA titles i've played over the years. Thank you for reviewing this gem!
It's an okay game; I love the art style and the core concept of the story is neat but it just doesn't have the depth I really want from this genre. The time mechanics (time travel, time freezing) felt pretty underdeveloped and didn't impact gameplay much, and while there are tons of collectable items the game doesn't really encourage their use in most cases. I would love to see a sequel that builds on its strengths but goes way deeper. As it is I give it a C+, not bad at all but there are much, much better metroidvanias in this space.
It's either the Iron or Blade orbs for me. They felt like they had a good heft and weight to them and I loved the sound they made when slashing the air with them.
Yes this is definitely a hidden gem. I bought this on the PC a while back and beat it. It was a great game but I'm thinking about buying it for my Switch collection
I got this on ps plus a while ago but didn’t realize it was a metroidvania until I watched a top 10 MV video. Put it on the back burner but I started it today. It feels more like sotn to me than bloodstained. I’m enjoying it !

I found never thought of that. There might be some shortcuts for people who search hard, but for the normal gamer, I don't think it'll distort the experience at all.
You can't spam it whenever you want. It may be my lack of skill or understanding of it but if I miss a jump after using it other take too long, I need to earn it back. And if you use it if you don't have enough built up, it won't last that long. I used it to jump on am enemy to reach a platform and it quickly resumed time. It's fairly balanced as far as the early game is concerned.
Great gameplay, okay story, very weak characters. I disagree strongly on your stance on the quests as I never cared for any of the characters. The gameplay more than makes up for it though and definitely carries the game.
This. I kickstarted Timespinner, and was severely disappointed by the story and characters. They were so weird, and the side stories didn't fit the themes of the game at all. The gameplay was alright, but the time mechanic was underutilized.
This game is so dope. Shit is a game that sucked me in so bad I felt like I really was an adventurous woman with secret powers to rewind time to the point I started to nag everyone around backwards!!!! NO BUT FOR REAL THIS IS A MUST PLAY!!
Man the game is excellent, but the progressive themes and politics really killed it for me... Specially the bonfire cutscene. I'm ok with representation, but the only straight and male character is the bad guy an your father on top of that? The writer must seriously have some daddy issues.

The Orb system was most likely inspired by the Glyph system from Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia.
