- Peter finishes up the final touches on his 18th-century gunsmith shop by hanging the window shutters and door, officially marking the completion of the project. The shop is now ready for action, setting the stage for traditional gun crafting and historical recreation. Before wrapping up, Peter shares a fascinating piece of history about the significance of the bear skull he’s hung at the doorway, a tradition passed down by the Anishinaabe people that honored nature's cycles and the regeneration of resources.
In this episode, Peter reflects on how the Ojibway people would leave behind a bear skull after a feast to signify respect for the land, allowing it time to regenerate before returning. This meaningful symbol now stands at the entrance of his new workshop, connecting past traditions to his present-day craftsmanship. With the gunsmith shop complete, Peter is ready to move on to his next historical project, but not without acknowledging the rich heritage that continues to inspire him.

Another project well done!
Do you have any fall canoe treks coming up.
I enjoyed the ones posted in the past. That’s what got me hooked in to your channel.
Congratulations on a terrific build!
Hold on a minute!! Did you acquire sawn planks by way of the pit saw!?....teaser,,, but a saw pit installed would be a nice addition,,plus a willing participant to help demonstrate, makes for a great educational vid. But where to find a period correct pit saw, would be a challenge in of itself.
Hey Peter!
Kelly's Station is really coming alive! Tick another project off of the list and move on to the next one! WOOF! I am looking forward to seeing what is next!
You are going to enjoy that shop I'm sure. Love it Peter.
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY USA brother and everyone and thank you for sharing your live history videos
Your gunsmith shop looks amazing! Great job!
Love the finished shop looks both cozy and well laid out for a productive space. Should give you a good spot for working on guns and other projects.
Congratulations on gunsmith shop completions! 😊
Thanks for that!
What a handsome shop! You’ve done a beautiful job as always.❤️🐝🤗
The building looks beautiful! I’d love to live in a building as that! Great job! Love watching. 🍁🌲🐿️❤
The evolution of Kelly Station is remarkable. It's been incredible viewing the videos of the progression from Tavern to Fort. The addition of a proper gunsmith shop space is another testament to your living history teachings.
Oh, and I have Bob Miller as the free square on my Woodland Escape bingo card!
Awesome what a great thing to have look forward to some nice rifles being built
Hi old friend great job well done. The top door hing pin should be upside down so as the door can’t be lifted off.😊
Why are the doors and shutters hung to open out? The hinges should be on the inside so they can't be removed.
Adding a drive thru window?
well done
If that Bear Spirit comes back for his skull he certainly won’t be able to get in that door or shutters Peter! A Lovely Job Indeed! What a wonderful place to be and work on those snowy days within the security of Kelly’s Station! You made a good handle and hinges too? I enjoyed very much as I had my lunch of fried spuds, broccoli and roasted chestnuts with Woodland Escapes, the perfect combination! Thank You Peter and Kathy! Many Blessings and A Most Beautiful Autumn Equinox! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
Holy cow you expecting musket fire or Cannon fire!
Your gun smith shop looks great.
Very nice progress on your encampment! Such amazing structures, and so very much history and historical value!
Beautiful shop, Peter. What you have accomplished since I started watching your channel is absolutely amazing. In a few short years, you have gone from a cabin to a fort with all the necessities you would need on the frontier it's just amazing. And all is historically correct. One day, I have to see it in person. My best to you and Cathy, for a job well done.
Appreciate your efforts and dedication! Truly remarkable what you have accomplished! I hope to have the opportunity to render my own bear fat in a few short years. Thanks again and keep your powder dry!!
Greetings from the off grid cabin. The shop looks great, fine work. Lots of fun to be had inside. Stay safe and man the fort.
Great job. on the shutters and the door. I bet it takes quite a bit to keep old man winter out when you are so far north. Thank you for the fine content.
Beautiful work!
I like it my friend,,,
Looks good
