Great soft machine find! I never got into Joy Division. Not sure how I missed that boat, especially when I was listening to The Cure, New Order, The Smiths, Bauhaus and many other 80s icons. Romantic Warrior is a kick ass record.
Joy Division had such a meteoric & ultra short career (plus they never toured in the States), so I guess it was easier to follow all the great bands you mentioned who who have followed in their footsteps. Thanks for watching, Steve. Take care my friend 🙂

That meet up you had looked great and extremely well organised. I picked up the Bill Nelson somewhere or other and it had a free album I preferred with it - like little pieces of music relating to a ballet. Anyway thanks for sharing.

Bonjour FVA! I can’t believe that Joy Division album is now over 40 years old. I have my original copy I picked up when I was a teenager! Guess I am getting older as well. I have that New Order album as well. Power, Corruption, & Lies is also excellent. Psychedelic Furs too! I saw them summer /86 with The Mission UK as the opening act. It was very loud! I have a copy of that Return To Forever on compact disc. It’s a difficult listen as I’m not a big fusion guy. Crisis is a good Supertramp album. It was a real pleasure to meet you and your lovely wife last weekend. See you next July! ✌️
Yip time flies...Agreed with what you said, PL&C is probably ma favorite New Order album. When I hear you guys talking about these great 80s memories, I am a bit jealous haha. But you know, 1986 is the year I was born, so there is not much I can do about it. Me and my wife had a wonderful time too as your reception is second to none 🙂
I love that Fripp / Eno record ... and the Joy Division and New Order, of course. That might be my fav New Order record. I need to listen to the debut Supertramp again,. I have a copy, but I never got into it. I have some Bill Nelson records, but not that one. Now, I nee to find that one too! I have that Tortoise record! I really like it. Great finds.
Hey Brian, Supertramp's debut is a true early 70s progressive pop album, thus quite different from what would later be their signature style (massive use of Wurlitzer 200A electric piano, songs that blend progressive rock and pop styles, etc...). First time I heard ''Maybe I’m a Beggar'' I got goosebumps. If by chance I stumble upon another copy of Bill Nelson's The Love That Whirls, I'll put it aside for you. Have a nice weekend, Cheers, FVA
Nice overview FVA! I was not familiar with the Flashback site for vinyl purchases, and I'll check them out. New Order's debut is definitely a transitional album, but Dreams Never End is a great opening track. Bill Nelson is new to me, so on the list it goes! 😎🎶
Hello Ed! Flashback Records is operating from 3 record stores in London, UK. Their website is very nice, allowing you to order directly online without having to go through their page on Discogs. Bill Nelson's work is very underrated, if you like early 80s synth pop you need to give this album a fair hearing. Thanks for watching, Cheers, FVA

Romantic Warrior is the last Chick Corea album that I heard back in the 70’s. I didn’t like it as much as the three that preceded it.
This was a blind purchase as I vaguely remembered seeing this one being mentioned by someone who made a ranking. Not a bad record, but certainly not a must-have. Thanks for stopping by, Ritchie. Take care

Beaucoup de 80s néanmoins, dont je ne suis pas particulièrement fan, mais je comprends car c'est plus ta génération que la mienne. D'ailleurs à ce propos je te conseille d'écouter un album de Thomas Dolby : The Flat Earth (1984).

Fripp & Eno's Evening Star is great too. Both Joy Division albums are almost perfect imho. Movement would probably be my fav New Order album although all their 80's stuff is good. I would've liked to have spent more time in Sonic Boom. It was huge, but we got side tracked by MGK's phone call 😂I have quite a few Tortoise records. That one you showed & the first one are my fav's. They get a bit jazzier on late albums. That Polish albums has some wild artwork. Cheers...Ben
Hey Ben! Sonic Boom is indeed the kind of places where I love spending hours for hunting records. Tortoise is relatively new to me, their music is taking me into a completely new world, making me discover post rock bands like Bästard, Gastro Del Sol, etc...Agreed Joy Division & early New Order material are second to none. @@frenchvinyladdict I got deep into post rock in the late 90s/early 2000s. Another great band you can add to your list are Canadians Do Make Say Think.

Salut Romu ..bon j'ai pas tout compris,mais je vois que tu t'est fait plaisir et ses le principal...j'ai vue passer 2 albums pour moi primordiale dans sa collection quand on est fan de ce genre de musique,joy division et le New order qui sont de très bonne pioche .. content pour toi ...
Salut à toi (vous deux ;-) et merci du passage. Oui le mois de juin a été un bon ''cru'' niveau acquisitions, et c'est vrai maintenant que tu le dis que ça va un peu dans tous les sens, on a du prog ''canterburien'' (pop/jazz), de l'excellente Synth-pop (qui pourrait te plaire, je pense), du post rock, du prog polonais, de la pop/rock un peu plus classique et un disque pédagogique allemand. Je fais dans l'eclectisme..tu sais le nouveau truc tendance😄
