Creativity is not done for the "masses" or the audience, it's done for your own expression, hence the art that you create is supposed to please you, the audience just becomes the extension of YOU. You should always be true to your freedom of expression, if you find your voice in boosting the highs, then do so, no need to make music for the masses, but to express your own thoughts. If AR Rahman would have wanted to create music for the masses he would have sounded like Anu Malik or Nadeem Shravan, but he doesn't. That's why it's important to find your sound , the "masses" will like you as one true artist and not someone who just "sounds" like someone else. Be your own true artist, create your own true art.

As a musician I always trust the recording engineer, mixing engineer and the Mastering engineer. Earlier when I used to play in live shows I always trusted the sound engineer. Maybe AI has become the norm these days. But musicians should always trust the human experts in music creation and performance.
