Saved time by starting the slide on the air with higher speed, and by using the newest bounce strat that is also used in the current 120 star TAS WIP.

How do you get 110+ speed with slidekicks? Does it have to do with the slide floor type?
edit: of course, you decelerate less during the 1f of crouchslide right
Yeah it only works on slidey floors, otherwise it caps much earlier iirc

If he’s above the floor tiles he doesn’t miss it. He only misses it if he passes it.

@OctagonalSM64 cool, nobody asked. I know it’s not possible to do and I don’t really care tbh, I’m not much of a speedrunner and the last game I speed ran was The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I think I beat it in 3 minutes and 52 seconds but nobody asked about that either, so I don’t care anything you said

There has got to be some way to utilize the speed buildup better than just using it to generate the initial push and then continuing with the normal speedrun strat...
the main issue is, you can't touch the ceiling of the slide, or you'd bonk on it and lose all your speed. So there isn't any known way to conserve more speed during the slide.

In isolation, it's better and a WR.
In a full game TAS run (120 stars, per example), it's WAY slower. The 120 star TAS would've already got the >21s star

There isnt any place to set up a blj in here / blj would automatically be killed when you touch the slide

Thanks for the replies, I am no Mario 64 expert ( still a noob) but as I saw speedrunners after setting up the sblj they continue to blj against the wall until they go through the 30 star door, and I thought it was possible to do the same here, so again thanks for your clarifications
Hey I have a tiny bit of criticism if that's okay. The following bothers me and you dont have to, but I was hoping you could move the space wherenthe recommended video is to be away from the time of the race shown when Mario gets the Star. Cause I can only seen 11:0 and am still wondering how that's 11:07.
