yg is known for being strict with their trainees and and yang hyunsuk (CEO) has always been critical and straight forward with his artists so they won't get affected that much when they enter the harsh reality of the industry and its really effective when we look at how strong Bp,treasure and other yg artists are.

But as vocalists/singing vocal first before stage presence , having poor technique is worser than not having stage presence imo. In my honest opinion vocals/rap in Gone were pretty mediocre , Stay team did so much justice to the vocals, i actually liked it more than original vocals even though I'm rose biased, especially Chiquita suprised me. And Asa rap was better smoother than ruka ... The thing is if they complimented how good they sang and said the negatives too it would look genuine but it feels like most of the negative criticism were only edited in, i hardly saw any real praise for how good this team was.
And kpop companies are very cunning they always have a motive behind their editing, be it too make some look better or worse etc

I'm glad YG shows times when they get criticized when they don't have to. They are young, still trainees, they will continue to progress especially when you have quality mentors. What is certain is that they are too talented! I’m sure they are going to be fine. Oh and YG is a scary man 😂

For me, I don't really mind CEO's comments on Haram, the way he said in Korean is actually not that bad than it looks in translation. He actually pointed out the thing Haram herself finds difficulty. Haram just cried because after YG leaves, her dance mentor said the same thing to her again! It's quite hard to hear the same criticism twice from ppl who trained you ~

If you actually read/hear everything they said, it wasn't abt their singing or skills. Yoon did say they sang perfectly. Suhyun and Yoon kinda said the same thing which i agree. If you look at some parts in the vid where they were singing, they look tired and they weren't really looking at the audience. What we're seeing btw is not one take(what they saw). they recorded multiple times for the video. when team A was singing last time, ahyeon's nail polish looked different in diff cuts😂.
I don’t think it’s that bad but it’s definitely stiff. There’s too much pattern and I don’t feel the energy of “stay with me” by any of them….it’s just oh I have to stand here and I have to go there in the next part oh and we have to switch place again ..oh we have to clap…unlike the first team cause I really feel the “you’re dead and gone ,my love is gone too” and the most important thing is that I feel the connection between 3 of them with the first team … but I can’t feel the same connection with the 2nd team …maybe it’s because Ruka Pharita and Ahyeon are already besties so we feel that connection. And EXACTLY like Suhyun said…Chiquita is more emotional during mid check and Rora also sounds better during Jennie’s mid check. Overall it’s not bad ,the vocals are really good but not enjoyable for me
Yeah, even though I'm not an expert but I also liked team A's performance better . And Kpop industry is very competitive .To survive in this industry you have to do so much. Now days rookie groups don't have that rookie feelings in their performances. I think criticism now will make them grow so that they don't have to face the criticism after debut. The exicutive producer ...he made blackpink and other successful groups .He knows what he is doing.I think he did the right thing about pointing out everything before the actual performance. And today I don't really agree with Aaron... I feel like he's biased when it comes to bp but when other idols or mentors are giving advice or criticising them he feels they are being unfair/YG is doing evil editing... He's too biased.

We have same opinion. All of YG's performance even when it's just a cover it feels like they're owning the songs and not just cover. Connection to audience and your members is very important because they are not performing one by one they should be as one so if the whole performance feels like a competition rather than performance prepared to entertain those people come to hear them means nothing. Having talent is advantage but not guarantee for success. I like how YG prepare them well specially for this generation where there are lot of expectations.
it just YG strategy to push thai...even professional can tell stay performance was good...also why they didn't use gone in their recen video...team B CREATE THEIR OWN VERSION...it not suhyun fault..only yg editing because they cut the comments from team A and they didn't show good comment from other toward team B
I have to agree Aaron, Lisa is one amazing mentor, youth with you 2 Nd 3 helped me to understand she would be a great dance mentor if she decides to venture into such a field, she is clear about what she wants and she would make adjustments based on that, not the mentor that feels something is wrong but does not know exactly how and why it feels disconnected, she is straightforward in both her lashing out and friendly telling you to make corrections. No wonder she said if she weren't an idol, she would be a dance instructor, Lastly, vocally team b is better than team A, emotion-wise, stage presence-wise, chemistry-wise, making a statement, intrigue, team A is better than B, in such a way Team B literally felt programmed
Duh its normal in being a kpop trainee. The Criticism is not that bad. Its even more harsher after debut.
Compared to survival shows the mentors are so harsh and straightforward with their comments.
First I watched this performance I felt the same way as Suhyun and Seungyoon After I watched it more times it sounds not that bad but exactly not the best they can do I love Chiquita since her first performance video And she is now my bias as Lisa❤
Yes Lisa is amazing mentor and dancer. She really helped them with moves, change a little bit choreo. The best mentor that they could have.
They’re actually going easy with the criticism because of the cameras. Idols often talk about just how bad they were treated as the trainees. Companies go as far as to starve the trainees and take away their phones
i just love how they show they're not perfect. they're showing us more of their potential and what they could be in a few years with their growth. BTW what they're showing is SO much more calm and gentle than the other ones who criticized trainees😂. This isn't even that harsh when you compare. Also, what i liked when YHS pointed out from his previous survival shows is that he emphasized that the world outside is harsher. The people criticize everything when you debut. Survival shows just gets you prepared for that.

it's all about the final product, how the producers feel about it how YG feels about it, will those combinations work out? not only on performances but also on their real-life personalities, etc. all these things/criteria are involved in the debut of a group... them recording as 7 doesn't guarantee that they will debut as 7.. the same thing happen for Blackpink, before the debut there were demos recordings with different members/different combinations and the final 4 of them were the best among all of those, so the 4 of them debuted as Blackpink...
And about criticism, they all have their points even Jennie also pointed out on the mid-check of this particular group. And bruh!! this program is not even cruel as any other survival show produced by YG... In fact, YG is being very sweet here... Being a YG stan for more than a decade I have never seen him so sweet as this on any survival show that he produced to debut his group... When I mean sweet I meant it for real.. he is even talking to them like his daughters, and even when he pointed out the mistake of Haram it was just a casual comment not even harsh...
I agree. I've seen all the YG male group survivor show. From Bigbang's to YGTB. He has really toned down. I already saw it on YGTB but specifically here, maybe because they're younger and he has a daughter himself so the approach is very different. Like a father to her daughters.

YG artists also received harsh criticism when they are trainees that's why they also said what they think is much better for them when you enter YG as trainees they know being harsh on words but in a good way it's their way to get them better just looking back to all YG Survival Show it's more brutal on 2nd gen era but it makes them stronger...YG once said outside is more brutal than his words & it's true cause all YG artists are strong idols & can stand on their own without YG as backup😅

I agree TeamB did absolutely so well in Stay Cover. I prefer stay cover to gone to be honest. But the criticism are really different so I am shocked. May be I am the only one, but I don't really care about stage presence or movement in vocal performance, TeamB perform well with their amazing vocals, they are so stable at singing, the harmony is beautiful, that's perfect for me.
I think they should’ve considered that “stay” is not very much a song that necessarily brings a lot of energy or has a lot of melodies going on. It’s hard to deliver much shock factor, when the song itself does not have much variation.
well that's the difference with them in the industry and us😂. they see everything. As artists, they take everything into consideration for one perf.
That's why i never like Yg decisions, I'm sucker for vocalists in any group and yg vocalists tend to follow style over technique.. because apparently as we can see the technical aspect of how good stable vocals in stay cover was wasn't appreciated at all... But they can forgive poor technique just because someone is singing while looking at them intensely or doing facial expressions.... As a vocalists, first should be vocals then stage presence.

Actually YG is one of the best company in KPOP cause being just a trainee is a privileged they give efforts in everything like language class, fitness class, acting class,etc. even if not yet debut you can't get it in other KPOP companies plus YG paids their artists more than YG received that's what they've known for...YG always said on survival shows that give your best in evaluation or when they are in survival show cause even if you are not sure if you will debut under YG other companies might notice you cause they watched it just look what happened to YG TREASURE BOX the original lineup for TREASURE was only 7 but because they are all good it became 13 not to mention that the 28 YG trainees who participated were mostly all debuted now since our agencies grab them...
He clearly is not aware that this was actually not at all serious criticism for an Asian AND a kpop trainee most importantly😂 being an Asian getting a praise by your parents/teachers/trainers is damn hard than how the Americans get it 😂🙏

I think u should watch YG's all survival shows like Who is next?, Mix and Max ,Mix nine and YG Treasure Box and u will see that how they trained their trainners all the best way as much as they can do cause YG trainnrrs are different from other trainners

I was confused too by how much criticism they had for this team. It seem like positive feedback/comments from the first two judges were cut and only negative criticism were kept in the edit so it felt like they were being too criticaI only focussing on what went wrong. I actually really enjoyed the vocals in this one and the rap flowed nicely too. I honestly enjoyed stay cover more than gone.
well, yeah, the vocals were great, and Yoon (the second judge) actually praised the singing. The only criticism they did was about the performance itself. In other words. their stage presence. And if you look, that is pretty much the same criticism that Jennie was giving them on mid-check.
I mean, even the trainees themselves mentioned having trouble on that part of the performance.

to put perspective: this kind of performance might visually interesting on screen with some camera movement, post editing and stuff but it might looking really boring in real life, I agree with them, they should criticize them cuz this is an evaluation show not a whole franchise like mnet produce. I actually watched WIN, M&M, and Mixnine which is a survival show produced by YG and most of them are really honest with their feedback like how swings (one of the mentor of Mixnine) said that most of the trainee couldn't rap at all and then he pointed out how to do learn it properly. Even soyeon from G-idle and that seungyoon (that said they're visually stuff) got praised by knetz for their honesty why judging on mbc survival show. Also unlike other kpop companies YG entertainment has never prioritized choreographed dances and movements, they prefer more natural stage presence, attending BigBang, Winner, Ikon, and Epikhigh concert was really fun because they don't stick to choreography and just having fun
Jennie has said it, the issue is stage presence. The singing was perfect but like what yoon said the stage was too stif and boring. For YG aura, vibes, gestures, facial expressions etc etc is very important.

Blackpink songs are usually difficult for other grubs to sing. But when the babymonster is singing it looks like their song. Seeing their age is incredible
Trainees really get a lot of criticism it’s very hard for them but it’s common in Korea being rigid with this when I watched a reality for the first time I was shocked but then I get us to and understand that it’s for they get better and better
Then you know nothing about how Blackpink was made. They had to struggle way more than this, face criticism way more. I suggest you to watch "Blackpink : Light Up The Sky" documentry. Then you'll have an idea

Since the dance mission started with all 7 members, there's a sudden tought hit me that this final evaluation is all about to assess how well all these 7 talented girls could have perform as a single group. They should learn how to blend their abilities and bring out the best performance out together as a team. I hope to the point that there will be no one kicked out and they all will be debut together at the end.

It's okay to point out their mistakes, but there are ways, and they should also be praised when they do well.
