  • The rise of one-person businesses - aka solopreneurship - has disrupted the traditional startup model.
In fact, it’s estimated that 80% of the 24 million small businesses in the United States are run by solopreneurs.
Freedom, control, flexibility - these are just some of the reasons behind the rise in popularity of this business model.
…Or at least, that’s the canned response of the average solopreneur.
However, in the past few years, more and more solopreneurs have been reporting feelings of loneliness and isolation in their work.
Is it possible that there’s a downside to this business model that the leading advocators are not willing to admit?
In this video, we’ll dive into the realities of navigating solopreneurship in 2023 and what one-person businesses can do to overcome these challenges.

A much needed take! The part about not taking a vacation is so true.
Yes the absolute 0.01% of solopreneurs have money rolling in when they sleep, but the reality for most is that you feel guilty taking any time off

Being a solopreneur sounds like owning a job, not a business. I don't think it's a bad way to start, but it's limited. If that's as far as a person wants to go, that's fine. But if you want to grow a business, you've got to bring in help.

Such an important conversation to have. Love that you are spreading awareness on this other side of solopreneurship with your reach, Greg. I have met a number of solopreneurs who started their ventures because they wanted "freedom", yet ended up being consumed by their work.
Of course, the caveat is that is not inherently a bad thing if an individual has a high-degree of self awareness and knows this lifestyle brings them genuine fulfilment. Most do not.

Are you suggesting that entrepreneurs (with employees) aren't consumed by their work?

Very valid point BUT building just finding ONE niche and business is not even close to be quite as simple as you say, let alone multiple. But very valid points here. Nice video.

Greg, it’s exactly what my plan is. I love the “hire yourself out” part to become a business operator.

If you are solo, you have a job (maybe am amazing job)..not a business. Thank you for this Greg.

Thanks for the insights. I've contemplated both concepts. However, I never coined the phrase multipreneur.
    Very refreshing take.
