Hi folks! Sorry if you were hoping for an entire new video instead of a clip. I thought this was a good idea going forward for people who want to know what I thought of a book and maybe don’t watch the monthly/weekly recaps.
Love the clip idea, a nice way for you to curate easy to access reviews for specific books, great idea if you ask me. Sometimes people who are looking up a specific book like a short and sweet review to sway them either way. You can pluck more of these out of your videos, personally I think they are very helpful to readers.
Jake , Boy’s Life is really fantastic and I think it is a masterpiece from the first page to the last. Parts of that book pop up in mind from time to time, years after reading it. It is a treasure of a book. Yes, Nightbird was good but like Mike said, Boy’s Life is S tier, do not forget to put it on your TBR soon.
Great book, cool series Was a big McCammon fan backinnaday...then, he stopped...sadface When i heard he was coming back i sought out this book...and was kinda blown away: how very different but very McCammon. He does alot of the world building in this one...which leaves him time in the rest to build the core story - never been anything less than completely satisfied and happy with each Matthew Corbett tale...hope you enjoy.
I read this for the first time last year and it is pure historical genius. I plan on reading the rest ot the series. But I'd also like to suggest "The Border" which is a return to his science fiction apocalyptic horror work (like Swan Song).
I was listening to this as background while I finished up my work. When Mike paused talking about his last book of month I initially thought Mike was pausing for dramtic effect but I realized it was probably just a coffee sip and I was right 😂
Hey Mike Robert McCammon sounds awesome. You may just have convinced me to abandon my loose reading while listening to plans and pick up a few of his books after I get done with listening to the Mistborn era 2 series. I am now on chapter 8 out of 31 in the Bands of Mourning. I gotta admit, that the prologue really gave me the feels. Also Faris is growing on me. I still like Marasi and Wayne better, but Faris is growing one.
oh wow early American historical fiction is really intriguing to me, and I did like the Warlord approach of leaving it vague what's going on with the supernatural elements. I think I'm gonna try out McCammon this year with Swan Song first!
I don’t know what my problem is with Boy’s Life but it wasn’t for me. I loved Swan Song though so am pretty tempted to read Speaks the Nightbird. I really liked Shogun but read it many years ago, I wonder if it would hold up for me now. Looking forward to your take.
I have all Robert McCammon's books on my TBR for ages but haven't started a single one :( cause i am not sure which one i should go with. Any recomandation on which should be the first book i read?
Depends what you’re in the mood for. This one is historical fiction, Swan Song post-apocalyptic, Boy’s Life southern gothic. All are great. But I’d go with one of those three.
This sounds just like my kind of series! Trying to get physical copies in the UK though, sheesh!!! They barely exist. Crossing everything that this resurgence in McCammon popularity leads to some republishing for his books in UK eventually. 🤞
I just finished Shogun. What a miserable slog. 1200 pages of Blackthorne/Anjin-San nude, taking a bath, getting a massage or standing by ineffectually as a dull political drama swirl around him....Love McCammon, I have Speaks the Nightbird and Queen of Bedlam on my TBR.

I know Robert mccammon won't get the views but my man is highly underrated. Thanks for talking about him even if it is abridged
Nice review, no problem with this clipping idea, I watch the recaps but sometimes I might miss them. A separate video doesn't hurt. 🙂👍
Another fantastic video! Thank you Mike!
Yes, Mike! Preach the gospel of McCammon's genius. 🔥
Yay! The return of book reviews on mikes book reviews. Even if it’s short - still love it.
Good book. Give Robert mccammon his due
Speaks the Nightbird is where I plan to start with McCammon, so glad to know i'm on the right track!

You’re gonna love it, amigo.
Hell yeah, Jake!
Mystery walk, mine, ushers passing , and my favourite, the wolfs hour are all fantastic too
I'm on my fourth book of the series and I absolutely love them. Great review!
Listening to Speaks the Nightbird via audiobook right now. What a fantastic story. Can't wait to go through the series. Appreciate the video.
Loved everything I've read by this guy. Definitely gotta read this series sometime this year.
Highest of recommends.
Reading this now based on your book of the month. It’s really great so far. Love his writing style.
The Matthew Corbett series is one of my all time favorites! I just got the 9th book, The Seven Shades of Evil, for Christmas. Can't wait to read it!
Great book, cool series

McCammon is a great for sure.
Better than that Stephen King fella.

And Stinger.
Thank you for the review, happy reading to you… 🎉
The Audio books are fantastic and the reader brings all the characters to life. Cant recommend enough.
Similar to Wheel of Time - stay with me here - book 2 solidified me as a Matthew Corbett series fan!
I was listening to this as background while I finished up my work. When Mike paused talking about his last book of month I initially thought Mike was pausing for dramtic effect but I realized it was probably just a coffee sip and I was right 😂
IMHO I like the short review format.
Yay! I loved this too 😊
Glad you liked it!!
My favourite author. ❤

awesome video
I think I've read every book of his up through Mine (way back in 1990). Sounds like I need to pick him up again.
Eight more in the series to go. It's pretty awesome.
I’ll be doing QoB this year.

Yeah, I went digital with them because it was tough to find matching covers.
Do any of Mccammon books need to be read in order except for the Matthew Corbett ones? I just picked up Boys Life and Mine the other day.
You finished 1200 pages of something you thought was a miserable slog? Wow.
Do the Matthew Corbett books have any horror in them?
The first handful of chapters of this one had me thinking so.
Can the books in this series be read as standalones?
What Is your fav Robert mcammon book ? Thinking bout giving him a try.
Swan Song
I like this
You're drowning me in books. I just can't read as fast I guess. Lol
