Hey Andy another great video. i was watching another farmer on youtube and i realized you we're related...lol what are the chances. The hourigans must own NY State lol.... Great footage and loved the drone shots.
We have to inject hog manure here in michigan. People complain about the smell. You can smell the manure for miles . That system of yours works great. You guys have to keep good manure equipment due to the amount of cows you have. Your family has great equipment and employees which makes life easier on a large farm. That injector should be fine it looks lightweight but tough.
It still amazes me that people complain about manure. Just roll your window up and stfu. It's not like it's required for the basis of our agricultural practices or anything, eh? lol Without that smell of shit, the majority of crops would either be completely under-developed or fail entirely. It seems to me that people just love complaining about stuff that they don't have a clue about, just like those Geezers who protest against building Wind-Farms because they're "ugly." I dunno about you, but a coal-burning Power-Plant or a Nuclear Plant looks a hell of alot uglier than a bunch of white poles with giant fans on them. There was a massive Wind-Farm project out in PEI Canada that got flat-out shut down because the pensioners all wrote in and complained that the Wind-Farm would "ruin their view". It's bloody pathetic. I mean, how much of a weak-tittie comfort-junkie does one have to be to make such stupid decisions like that, all based upon aesthetics. I do have to ask, though... Why pig shit? Does the fact that pigs will eat literally anything have anything to do with it? Is it more potent?
Shows the value of a drone when able to look closely at the injectors at work. For a moment there I thought the smell was coming through my player, but then figured it was just some latent memory cells in the brain.. LOL tks for the video.. again. Hard to wait for the next one.
Was wondering what the analyse is on the manure and how many gallons or pounds to the acre, and do they have rate control, or are they stuck driving one speed???
We have a spreader we vary the speed with the pto. to put on a low rate with hog manure, we use a 540 RPM pto and adjust the throttle and ground speed. for higher rates, we use 1000 RPM pto.
can of the shitty video lol great info on the new machine we do haul our up to my uncle's place then he spread in their lot of peat-moss were here is does bag it for resale use the manure to build the soil up any there put it into hay land for a couple of years them we plant trees back there starting to see more wild animals back in the forests where he is he has a sawmill keeps us employed trucking it to the states and we bought vegetables or fruit back here we do send up truck loads of black dirt up there to be bagged for springtime
A few years ago all I ever saw was injection but the last few years I haven't seen anyone using an injector. Around here most of the spreading and injection when they were doing that is done off the back of a tractor with lines to a diesel pump pulling out of the lagoon.
Oh the memories of those sunless dreary days in Western NY....sure don't miss them! Great video and I'm very impressed with your drone flying ability!! Thanks for all you do!! Jim.
Well I want to thank you for your vids I did my part on helping the dairy farmers today went and got gallon of milk and dropped 😭 it getting out of the truck had to go buy a new one lmao stuff happens right 😂
Have you ever done a background video on how many cows, how much waste, can u dispose of it on ur own fields etc? Also general background on your farm and how you divvy up work. You must be involved in field work and equip maintenance. Right
What are your thoughts on the nuhn spreader vs the jamesway? We rented a nuhn 6750 with flow control last year and were very impressed with how it pulled and the job it did
Do you run the injector bar on float, or do you have to keep some hydraulic pressure on it to keep it in the ground? How did the healthy heard silage corn feed out that you bagged a couple falls ago? Wondering if you ended up comparing it to bmr, or if it just ended up as heifer feed. Excellent video as usual Andy!
Great video. That manure injector is pretty cool I’ve never gotten to see one up close before,We never really got into the liquid manure. I hope that thing serves you guys well
Andy, you must be so proud of Jared. The tractor sounds great. He'd make any father fell proud. You can tell he doesn't suffer fools, much like his old man. I've been reading some dairies are dumping their milk because they lack a market with all the closures. Are you seeing that in NY state? Here's praying we all get through this safe.
Just curious, how much does 1 gallon of liquid manure weigh? I haul production water in the oilfield. Production water is salt water or some refer to it as brine. It wieghs approximately 10 lbs /gal. Mark
pull up and shut that tractor off like that, i would kick his frik'n ass up down down that barn yard !!! thats not very good for the turbo there young Feller if your pull'n hard or not, i always let them idle down 2-3 min. i'm just pick'n on ya, that's what i do anyway, i ways taught old school that's all and when your taught that way it kinda stick's with ya, you guys rock on hope you all have a safe and semi dry and not to wet year, i think that that would be a prefect year !!! just say'n !!!!
Andy I noticed Andrew came out I bet he was keeping an eye on you nice job Andy explaining that equipment. I like the way the drone was up in the air nice view until the end when it was in the tractor you must had knocked it over with a can of soda LOL 😄 good job thank you for sharing the video 👍🇺🇸
That 2 to 3 hours drive had to be fun. I live 30 minutes northwest of Ortel's. Fun fact about Dennis, he use to sell nuts and bolts before manure equipment and the only reason I know that is because my Grandpa was one of his many customers. That place is a great place. Glad to hear you guys are doing business with Ortel's.
@@tomfaessler6072, Manure adds a lot more nutrition to the fields then any other fertilizer out there does. If you don't put some kind of manure down (cow, chicken or beef), you are losing the nitrogen and potash from the manure that the crops take. Manure also adds organic matter to the field (like what leaves do when you chop them up really fine). So if you wanted to do that, it would cost thousands of dollars just to get the field to a good state to grow decent crops.
Great video! That 30 minutes went quick. I helped a farmer knife in manure in the late 70s. He had a Same Buffalo tractor and a tandem axle Badger tanker with 3 injectors on the back. I don’t remember exactly how but every now and then an injector would plug and would have to take the hose off to unplug it. He would haul 24/7 in the spring and fall as to get as much out of the pit as he could. I always ran the night shift and l enjoyed it.
What an amazing amount of equipment it takes to run an operation of this size. I do't know how you even know how many tractors you have let alone all the specialized equipment that it takes.
very good demo..... could you give me a ball park figure on how much them 3 pcs of equipment cost?.... btw.... i smashed the thumbs up button.... thx....(tractor, tanker, and new injector)....
Andy , that manure injector works really well . It just amazes me the money your farm has tied up just to get rid of the manure , and now some farms are dumping the milk because the processing plants don’t want it . Something has got to give !
Very interesting video. How uniform is the amount of material delivered to each head, or doesn’t it mean that much? Will also be interesting to see how the tips hold up, it sounded like it was a bit stoney soil. Seems to be very efficient for poop application. Take care and stay healthy, America depends on our farmers more than they know. Thank you.
Probbly worked out by now but If the injector is pumping at the same rate, before you had 8 injectors, now only 6, it means slightly more material per injector, if you sped up(things might break) or slow down the pump you would have less overflow on the surface. At least Its all going in there. I'm slowly working through all your videos, much better and more interesting than the crap and adverts on the TV.
Awesome as always. Had a lazy day in the shop today and my son and I watched your vids. Great time killer! He wants to know how old Andrew is? He is 6 and mows with a 930r zero, and is jealous of Andrews big tractor skills!!!!
Such good explanation of reasons of why and how it gets done. And it gets done. Thank you for sharing your experience. The information gives so many other farmers half a chance to get it right.
Having a non-adjustable, non-articulating, non-spinning spreader on the back must make laying down an even pass rather difficult. Don't get me wrong though... It's certainly preferable to running those discs through a rocky field, though I'm sure you know that already lol.
What kind of rate are you putting down? 6000? We injecting some for the first time here also. What should we do with the ground afterwards? Just no till plant it or disk it smooth?
Really like your channel and seeing how "Big Farmers" do it. I grew up on a small dairy farm in Northern VA so I can relate--you're just about 15 times bigger though! Do you think you could do a drone tour of your barn layout on both sides of the road? Show where heifers, dry, cows, milk cows, etc are located? You've been hours of entertainment during "the great isolation". Keep up the great content!
What is the projected increase output of crops planted on ground that has been injected over other forms of fertilizer and over no fertilizer at all. On average how many bushnell per acre are you producing
It's not much of an increase. The manure provides more than just nutrients, the organic matter is probably more important than the nutrient value. We probably see a10-15% increase in yields from manure and if you don't apply fertilizer you are just waisting your time.
Those rigs are massive! Looks like a crappy job though. Literally crap.
Boy Andy the sound from about the 24:00 minute mark to the end is just so bad ass!!
Thanks glad you like it
That Deere sounds lovely.

Another guy smoking cigars when welding , new unit looks very simple .Thanks stay safe
Be interesting to see how those v points wear, how many acres could you get on the points on the other injectors?
They would Las for a couple hundred acres
That exhaust sounds sweet
Saw the construction equipment, you guys doing some more building?
Yes
What's up
Andy can smoke his cigar while welding.fella.
great work
