    Montague Bikes is famous for their Paratrooper folding bike and this one is even cooler! The Paratrooper Pro folding bicycle takes the best features of the original - suspension, disc brakes, strong frame - and goes to the next level with excellent components and a fully black paint job. The Paratrooper Pro bike is a great folding mountain bike for anyone who hates putting a bike rack on their car, or wants a regular size bike that folds for storage on their boat or RV. It's also a sturdy and reliable commuter folding bicycle.

    We tune up all our bikes prior to shipping to ensure that they are in top notch condition and ready to perform perfectly right out of the box. The $75 tuneup included with the purchase of new bikes refers to a free tune up that we can perform if you come by our shop a few months after purchase. In that case we ensure everything is clean and working properly. Often for these tunes ups we tighten up shifting and brake cables, clean the chain, etc.

    The Pro gets an upgrade in the drivetrain department (27 speeds instead of 24), and bigger shocks that have ability to lock out for a rigid ride. There are a couple of other component upgrades as well. You can compare the spec sheets on our website!

    +NYCeWheels I got a nearly similar bike as this, turns out that it's a replica? Mine's made by a company called "VLRA", something Chinese? I guess it's a rip off. :(
    Anyhow, 1 week into riding it and I have observed the disc brake on the front constantly touch the brake pad on a particular position. So I get one sound every revolution of the wheel, how can I fix it? Hammer or bend it with a spanner? This feels too unconventional.
    Another is the pedal, it now offers some hindrance while rotating about it's own axis so pedaling is uncomfortable. What has broken and is it fixable?

  • @innomind
    @innomind 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love the fly shot at 1:29, good job! As far as the bike, the IF-mode is probably better folding design, albeit with not as sturdy build quality as this one.

  • @nycewheels
    @nycewheels  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Depends on your inseam. If you have a 30 inch inseam the 18inch frame should be fine. If your inseam exceeds 30 inches, I think you'll be more comfortable on the 20 inch frame. Best- Jack

    • @nycewheels

    • @nycewheels
      @nycewheels  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dave, the Paratrooper Pro is not going to compete with high performance competition level mountain bikes, but has the advantage of folding to a more compact size and is excellently made - perfect for recreational off-roading. It uses an aluminum frame. Best - Jack

    This is a nice looking bike if you are using it to put in your car , Not sure how it would be if you were using in the city on the train , tram or bus it looks a little big when folded down for anything other than the car but I could be wrong there.

    • @nycewheels
      @nycewheels  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Putting it in a car trunk is usually the best use case, that's a common reason we see a lot of people getting Montague bikes. It's definitely not the easy fold n' go commuter bike. A lot of people also get a Montague bike if they ride from point A-B directly, but don't want to take up as much room at home or at work.

  • @nycewheels
    @nycewheels  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    The paratrooper is pretty unique, you wont be able to find a mountain bike that folds up for that price range. If it were me, I would save up a few extra hundred dollars and just go for it, in the long run you wont even remember the price, and you'll have such a blast on the Paratrooper. Best- jack

    whats the difference between the paratrooper pro and the paratrooper

    • @nycewheels
      @nycewheels  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Paratrooper pro has better components than the regular paratrooper, with 27 speeds, a "lock out" feature on the front suspension, and higher quality shifters. In my opinion, because it uses these nicer parts, the paratrooper pro is actually a better bike for the price. To reattach the front wheel you just slip the left and right side of the axle back inside the fork and pull the quick release lever tight! It is easy enough but it is possible Peter and Bert didn't get a clean take! Good eye - Jack

      Thanks for coming back on that one. Do you use a Montague personally? You said in another video you like Brompton. This bike seems to be good for adjusting heights and appears to fold more tightly than Tern bikes.

    • @nycewheels
      @nycewheels  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do ride Montague bikes often from our shop, but I do not own one personally. Montague bikes feel great to ride as they use full sized wheels, but no bike will fold as well as the Brompton - Jack

  • @nycewheels

      You are referring to the FIT? Yes you could install 29er wheels which are very close in size to 700c. You don't have to install a suspension fork, but you should be able to. Best - Jack
