You may need something like a drum to submerge into the water to help the concrete set hard. Or something like you used to mould the concrete pipes for the water well you dug. Remember those moulds. Make sure to protect against upstream hydraulic scour, swirling currents undercutting bridge piers, that were missing from the bamboo bridge. The absence of this feature was an important feature in the failure of the bamboo bridge as the piers were most likely undercut during flood.
