I’m entering a painting competition at a small convention at the end of March. First time entering a competition and painting 6mm! The choice to do 6mm is a little strategic since it is the least popular size category, plus I have all these cool LI miniatures now and I figured 6mm would be more noob friendly. I’m doing a small Death Guard SM unit plus Rhinos. So far I have spray primed “Grey Matter” a warm beige white and base coated with Vallejo Silver Grey (again slightly warm off white). Next I need to do the shoulder pads, deciding between Death Guard Green or slightly brighter Militarum Geen, Then I am going to shade with either Moratorian Grime of black/green oil wash. A Death Guard painting tutorial would obviously be helpful for me.
Congrats! That seems fun. Love Warhammer world. I don't think you have, but if you use any 3D printer parts (which you haven't custom sculpted), you're not allowed to use them in Warhammer World games :( It kinda sucks and people have been asked to pack up their models before...
well something interesting is going to happen because gw hired zorpazorp to make the imperial palace outer gate at epic scale for them to send to them so something big may be announced
Are you London-based? Or near London? I'm part of a pretty massive London Wargaming Guild (LWG) that does loads of events and whatsapp chats for all kinds of wargaming systems. We have a Legions Imperialis sub-community as well and our club is based at a venue in 7 Dials market (where we have the venue booked out on Mondays and Tuesdays). If you're looking to get in some games we've been arranging LI nights with progressively higher point counts as well as doubles. I think most of our members have at least 1000 points painted with a couple having painted significantly more. Personally I'm painting a Battle for Tallarn force which is super heavily focused on Solar Auxilia Tanks with a smattering of Imperial Fists and titans. Would love to play your Sons of Horus some time.
I was due to go but after the issue with their latest release and lack of items being available for the event that means I can't put the army together and get it painted for the event I chose to get a refund and not go. This is due in part to the (understandable) no 3D prints rule and the fact that to this they have added that they are not allowing conversions at this scale for this event, basically put the nail in going for me. But I hope you have a good event and I'd double check with them about your force if you are converting bits as it'd suck to go all the way there to be refused play due to your army
The rule seems to be no converting unreleased units (bikes etc.) - the event pack makes it clear in general sculpting, kitbashes etc. are welcome (but I will of course check two weeks before)
Yay meeting strangers over the internet! My mum always told me this would be fun x (and a mixed Astartes force based on the traitors of Isstvan III - World Eaters, Sons of Horus, Death Guard and Emperor’s Children)
@@LItbashing I’ve heard World Eaters, Death Guard, and Emperors Children all have good legion abilities so that is a good start! Sons of Horus, at least that metallic aqua color scheme is sharp Like you I’m still collecting and looking for players.
Looking forward to it pal. I'd say keeping it to weapon variants and the characters mentioned might be enough. That way from a distance they look 'normal' troops/tanks/dreadnoughts, but when someone takes a proper look they see the Typhus, Maloghurst or Demolisher Leman Russ. That may get people talking.
Looking forward to the fluffy but still competitive list building content. I don’t like that you can’t mix heavy and special weapons into a regular tactical squad. Maybe it is just me but a 5 marine plasma gun squad sounds like some Primaris Bullshit.
Actually the opposite! This is how full scale Horus Heresy works too. Legionary squads can only take bolters and you get heavy support squads and special support squads of 5-10 weapon specialists in a separate slot.

I’m gong back to Rogue Traitor and Chapter Approved where the emphasis was on Tac squads with the occasional missile launcher or heavy bolter Destroyer Squads. For some of us 20 years in the hobby makes you a young one! Maybe it was an in world change of doctrine between 30K and 40K.

Nope! Absolutely no 3D printed bits on this channel - all traditional Kitbashing and green stuff :)
