The timing is often ridiculously tight for the larger bills... nobody can seriously read 1000 pages of legalese in less than a day and remember details. Part of it is intentional as the "hard work" is pushed over to the committees, but part of it is pure disregard for the process.

I've never understood this. Of course there are a ton of logistics that go into transforming D.C. or a territory into a state, but when it's in our fellow citizens' best interest, i don't know how they can say no. Well I know how, they're trash, but still.
The 6 United States Territories (Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, Northern Marian Islands, and American Samoa) should be granted statehood already! I don't care what their political ideologies are, if these over 4 million people are American citizens, can fight and die in America's wars, are allowed to vote in the primaries, and most importantly are living in areas where U.S. currency is used and taxed, why not make these places states? Being an American born in D.C. or on 1 of the 5 Island Territories is like being at an all you can buffet but only allowed to use 1 plate; what's the point of only having partial benefits to being here given that you can't have full benefits like else? And as the old say goes: "No taxation without representation!"

Absentee ballots were extended not limit same with going out to vote was extended to 6 days a week and even Sundays instead of 5days. Voting hours were also extended, and for photo ID which was always a thing including 7 other states (which provide them for free). If you can't provide one theres literally a second option where you can fill out a form and vote just like every other state. I'm black and came from poverty and carried 4 different IDs with me. Even CNN admitted that this wasn't true. This is just heavily politicized

I am a long-time DC resident: We pay federal taxes without representation and pay more per capita than any state. We also rank #22 among the states in taxes paid. And, our population is larger than Wyoming and Vermont, and we are about to eclipse the populations of Alaska and North Dakota.

@@danweyant707 also DCA is literally right across the river from DC. It is closer to the downtown of DC than most city airports. You can walk straight from your plane without going outside and into a metro stop and hop the yellow line and you are in downtown DC in 4 stops which takes maybe 15 minutes max. You can see the Washington Monument and the Capitol from there. I guarantee whatever city this guy is from probably flies into somewhere that takes a lot longer to get downtown. Living in DC and flying in and out of DCA is a joy. If you live in walking distance of a metro stop you never have to get a cab.

"DC would be one of the first states without an airport." Did he forget about Reagan National Airport? Ya know, it's right on the Potomac. It's one of American Airlines' hubs. The 3 letter airport code is literally DCA. Does he not remember?

Many times when I worked as a substitute teacher, the lesson plan left by the regular teacher was to show a movie to the students. This happened especially in the Spanish class. It was a movie in English with Spanish subtitles. I don't how that teacher expecting her students to learn Spanish by watching a movie in English.

Can we all admit that the concept of American "territories" is inherently undemocratic and very hypocritical coming from a country that had a whole revolution because of "taxation without representation"? Every territory subject to American laws and taxes should have statehood, full stop. DC is a great first step, but what about Puerto Rico, Guam and America's other holdings? If not, we have no right to enforce our laws or collect taxes from them.
I agree so I hope this doesn't sound disingenuous but the "Founding Fathers" were given a bunch of choices, including the representation they claimed to wish, exemption from several taxes and autonomy to elect most people in the colonies. They just lost control of some events and decided to surf the tide, as that gave them a chance to not only pay no more taxes at all but to break the treaties with the natives, they saw a chance created by others and took all for themselves.
By virtually all accounts, he was actually not only a good surgeon but quite a gifted one at that. He does speak slowly but that doesn’t mean he’s a dummy. Even very smart people can get weird ideas and start believing strange things later in life.

The timing is often ridiculously tight for the larger bills... nobody can seriously read 1000 pages of legalese in less than a day and remember details.
Part of it is intentional as the "hard work" is pushed over to the committees, but part of it is pure disregard for the process.

I've never understood this. Of course there are a ton of logistics that go into transforming D.C. or a territory into a state, but when it's in our fellow citizens' best interest, i don't know how they can say no. Well I know how, they're trash, but still.
The 6 United States Territories (Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, Northern Marian Islands, and American Samoa) should be granted statehood already! I don't care what their political ideologies are, if these over 4 million people are American citizens, can fight and die in America's wars, are allowed to vote in the primaries, and most importantly are living in areas where U.S. currency is used and taxed, why not make these places states? Being an American born in D.C. or on 1 of the 5 Island Territories is like being at an all you can buffet but only allowed to use 1 plate; what's the point of only having partial benefits to being here given that you can't have full benefits like else? And as the old say goes: "No taxation without representation!"

She just listed things she didn't like not what was in the bill. It's funny how Seth could easily have his producers provide screenshots from the bill saying what she listed but won't. Absentee ballots were extended not limit same with going out to vote was extended to 6 days a week and even Sundays instead of 5days. Voting hours were also extended, and for photo ID which was always a thing including 7 other states (which provide them for free). If you can't provide one theres literally a second option where you can fill out a form and vote just like every other state. I'm black and came from poverty and carried 4 different IDs with me. Even CNN admitted that this wasn't true. This is just heavily politicized

@@danweyant707 also DCA is literally right across the river from DC. It is closer to the downtown of DC than most city airports. You can walk straight from your plane without going outside and into a metro stop and hop the yellow line and you are in downtown DC in 4 stops which takes maybe 15 minutes max. You can see the Washington Monument and the Capitol from there. I guarantee whatever city this guy is from probably flies into somewhere that takes a lot longer to get downtown. Living in DC and flying in and out of DCA is a joy. If you live in walking distance of a metro stop you never have to get a cab.

Many times when I worked as a substitute teacher, the lesson plan left by the regular teacher was to show a movie to the students. This happened especially in the Spanish class. It was a movie in English with Spanish subtitles. I don't how that teacher expecting her students to learn Spanish by watching a movie in English.

Can we all admit that the concept of American "territories" is inherently undemocratic and very hypocritical coming from a country that had a whole revolution because of "taxation without representation"?
Every territory subject to American laws and taxes should have statehood, full stop. DC is a great first step, but what about Puerto Rico, Guam and America's other holdings? If not, we have no right to enforce our laws or collect taxes from them.
I agree so I hope this doesn't sound disingenuous but the "Founding Fathers" were given a bunch of choices, including the representation they claimed to wish, exemption from several taxes and autonomy to elect most people in the colonies. They just lost control of some events and decided to surf the tide, as that gave them a chance to not only pay no more taxes at all but to break the treaties with the natives, they saw a chance created by others and took all for themselves.
How the hell was Carson smart enough to become a brain surgeon? He sounds like he has a TBI himself.
By virtually all accounts, he was actually not only a good surgeon but quite a gifted one at that. He does speak slowly but that doesn’t mean he’s a dummy. Even very smart people can get weird ideas and start believing strange things later in life.
You see there are different types of intelligence. You can be an expert in one area and a dummy in another area. Would you ask an Olympic Track star to build a house?

@none none can you point me to a credible (mainstream will do) source explaining this? I see he has had some lawsuits, but apparently an average number especially considering the high volume of surgeries and the complexity of many of them. I can’t find anywhere saying he botched a basic surgery.
