  • This video is a quick tutorial where I show you how I painted my real metal Warhammer 40k Adeptus Custodes armour.
    This video is part 2 of 2 and covers the whole process of painting the shoulder pads, ropes, leather parts and gems. The second part will cover the leather, gems and ropes.
    I use this process to paint all my Legio Custodes minis for my Armies on Parade 2024 Horus Heresy entry.

    Base
    1. Paint the gold armor from part01: • Adeptus Custodes Armor...
    Shoulder pads and ropes
    1. Base coat the shoulder pads and ropes with Citadel - Mephiston Red.
    2. Shade the lower parts of the shoulder pads with Citadel - Khorne Red.
    3. Add volumetric highlights to the ropes and shoulder pads with Citadel - Evil Sunz Scarlet.
    4. Recess shade the shoulder pads and ropes with a 1:1 mixture of Citadel - Khorne Red and Citadel - Abaddon Black.
    5. Finish the ropes with tiny volume highlights of Citadel - Wild Rider Red
    Leather parts
    1. Base coat leather parts (weapon grip, loincloth, gloves) with a mixture of 90% Citadel - Khorne Red and 10% Citadel - Abaddon Black.
    2. Recess shade leather parts with a 1:1 mix of Citadel - Khorne Red and Citadel - Abaddon Black
    3. Highlight all leather parts with Citadel - Khorne Red
    4. Use a 1:1 mix of Citadel - Khorne Red and Citadel - Squig Orange to create smaller edge highlights on the leather pieces.
    5. Highlight the edges of the leather with a small amount of pure Citadel - Squig Orange.
    6. Finnish the leather parts with tiny reflective highlights of Citadel - Jokaero Orange
    Gemstones
    1. Base coat the gems with Citadel - Kantor Blue
    2. Highlight the lower right corner of about 1/3 of the surface with a 1:1 mix of Citadel - Thousand Sons Blue and Citadel - Sybarite Green.
    3. Add a spot of reflection in the upper left corner with a 1:1 mix of Citadel - Thousand Sons Blue and Citadel - Sybarite Green.
    4. Intensify the highlights in the lower right and upper left with a 1:1:1 mix of Citadel - Thousand Sons Blue, Citadel - Sybarite Green and P3 - Morrow White.
    5. Intensify the highlights with a 1:1:2 mix of Citadel - Thousand Sons Blue, Citadel - Sybarite Green and P3 - Morrow White.
    6. Apply a small amount of P3 - Morrow White to both highlights to simulate intense light reflections
