I saw the first two shows of Star Wars in 1977. Myself and two friends skipped out of high school to go see it. When the Death Star blew up, the audience gave a standing ovation. I've never seen another movie that got that kind of reaction.
"I saw the 1st Star Wars film in 1977 and have watched all of them, several times, as they came out and many times since. Yes, some movies and certain elements were much better than others. But to me, it's grand opera on a galactic scale and I'm glad to have been an observer of the adventure. " - Boba Fett
As a kid growing up I remember the first ever time I watched a Movie... it was 'Jurassic Park' 🦖 and it was on a DVD player. The excitement I felt as my Dad put in the movie and cooking up popcorn was amazing... I remember our old house having 4 bookshelves filled with DVD's or Blueray and it was heaven, browsing the different movies right in my own home was a feeling I couldn't forget. Now as I am 16 I just get to watch those movies on Hulu, or Netflix. (Yes back then we had Netflix as this story started around 2012 *BUT* it was the only thing we had and ngl I want to go back to those days, just repeating the same movie over and over again in just one day was a thing I loved)
I may not have had blockbuster growing up, but I do remember when you had to rent a DVD from Netflix and it came in the mail. I watched all the Harry Potter movies like that. And I remember red-box. those were the days.
That blockbuster video was sad. I honestly miss it alot. soooo many good memories. Only bad ones were playing video games as fast as possible, or rewinding vhs lol. Well until they had dvds. You guys remember when dvds came out? Or cds? I LOVED my portable cd player. Used to destroy computers maxing mix tapes off limewire to sell at school for ten bucks a piece
i remember none of your business first became a thing and block buster along with vhs tapes and the first ipod i remember all of these things i feel so old
I wasn’t born before 2004 I went to Blockbuster and it was a pretty good place and you describe everything perfectly. I still remember some of those days sometimes I missed it.😢
I can remember before VCR was a thing, you typically went to a theater. Than VCRs became common, and the first place near us to rent movies, was a zenith appliance store. Eventually small rental places came about, and eventually blockbuster. DVD eventually replaced VHS, and eventually HD DVD, and Blu-ray. Digital streaming is now the latest way to watch......well anything. Technology improves the convenience for sure, but there's some inconveniences of not actually owning a hard copy, and rentals were great for determining if a movie or game, was worth actually buying a hard copy of. Like all things, there's always a good and bad, but convenience usually wins over people.
Heading for the thermal exhaust Port I was literally going to leave the comment I know where you're heading with this right before that was said unbelievable
I was born in 2007, but I still cried when I heard that it was closing because where I lived we didn't have internet or at lest not much, and we went out to get spy kids, but they said we could only buy it, and we couldn't spear the extra money
28:46- I grew up with Blockbuster but I really wasn’t a fan the older I got. Because eventually I realized that the new movie were never there! If you found 1 copy of a “new” movie you were lucky! Even if it’s not a movie you wanted to see! Plus we were kinda broke when I was a kid so trips there were very rare and even if we could pick out 2 or 3 movies that time around we couldn’t get any candy from them! But that was fine because we got to watch movies that we wanted to that weekend! Yes I love all the options I have nowadays but that just makes it harder to pick something to watch now! But all in all I still wouldn’t want to go back to the BB days! So yeah, have a great day!!!
There is 1 video that is not Star Wars related...you'll see it if you watch all the way through!
