VIPS! I have gone back now about a dozen times, watching this video over and over again, stopping it, and trying to find ANYTHING. Here are my observations: Question: What's the significance of "Truth or Dare" on GD's neck? 1. I had NO idea Taeyang could sing like that. Damn! 2. Words in the cross: Sin will find you. 3. On Taeyang's camper there are all kinds of quotes, some I can make out and some I can't "Leave open for the positive to enter" "Open up all your chakra" "Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable" (LOVE that quote) "It's free to be free" Trash can "It all begins and ends with you." Question: Are these their own quotes or do they come from another source? sources? No ring on the girl's finger............ No idea why I thought I saw a ring. (old age and bad eyesight) QUestion: So, did TOP kill that girl? He's got blood all over him. "Whatever satisfies the soul is truth" "Make art, not friends" (Interesting) Sorry, but this song really affected me. I have my own personal reasons for that. Thanks John
Top has some issues with touching other people. He is natural with friends and close ones but not with everyone, so it could be one reason why he was rude to a girl. The other one, he really likes and understands art. And the girl there was kinda touching some art piece with her bare hands, so it could get him mad too
40Plus So as you two noticed, this song is about each of the member’s shortcomings. Some background information of each member in relation to the song, almost every member experienced forms of depression (especially GD and TOP). Taeyang and Daesung are both very religious (Daesung’s father being a priest). There has always been dating scandals involving them. With these in mind, the mv itself tells a different story per member which shows how they are losers in the following: G - Dragon: As I stated before, he’s gone through depression and his mental health has taken a toll from the attention and pressure from the name of BIGBANG. In the mv, GD feels the emptiness and loneliness after going from all the lights, cameras, and attention. He goes through the rest of the video walking through the streets restlessly as if trying to find himself/purpose but in the end lays on the street in front of the car about to be run over. TOP: He’s well known to not show any skin apart from his face, hands, neck, and maybe a little chest. It is very rare of him to be topless or even with short sleeves. He’s also the member that has suffered from depression most. He has tried to commit suicide through overdosing on his antidepressants. He usually stays at home and drinks wine with his phone off. He can be very sensitive so in the scene where he’s with the woman, the woman touched his art (which he says helps to calm himself and inspire him). In response, he angrily grabbed her chin and later in the video where he falls on his knees he has killed the woman and deeply regrets it. Seungri: He has had the most dating scandals among the boys. One such story was when he has thought he was dating a girl as they had exchanged letters and he had talked with her mother. However, a mutual friend of the girl and GD found out that the girl was seeing someone else and did not consider herself to be dating Seungri. Here in the mv you can see he is very much upset that his girlfriend was cheating on him. Taeyang: As you figured out, in the junkyard with the dog, he lost his faith and jumped off the roof; committing suicide. Daesung: I feel, though, the most obvious storyline, was the most relatable. Bullying and being beaten and not being able to fight back even if you tried. Heartbreaking, each one. However, as you said, it’s nice to see artists creating such somber and profound content. They show they are still humans and have their own lows and regrets and imperfections.

I haven't finished watching your reaction, but I feel the need to answer some of the questions you've had, and for those that know me, they know that I have a lot of opinions on the song, Loser. First, there is another reactor who breaks down her interpretation and it is pretty solid, but I think she got a major point wrong, in that she said the group were acting out another member's fears/issues. I don't think so. I think they are each talking about themselves. If you are easily triggered please don't read any more of this. These are only my opinions mixed with a general consensus of reactors and reviewers. 1. G-Dragon is himself. His tattoo reads truth + dare, perhaps daring to tell the truth? From the beginning where he is in an elevator after a concert going up to yet another hotel room in a city that is far from home with no one. All alone. He has written many songs about his loneliness and in this video with the drawn noose on his sideburn, the butterfly knife, and the bat..he is thinking of hurting himself, possibly killing himself, laying down in the middle of the road almost begging to be killed so he can be done and still no one sees him or his pain. 2. Taeyang, the most religious of the group, is seen making a cross that reads, Sin Will Find You. He draws it on the ground. His only companion is his dog (side note that is his real dog, who died shortly after this video was shot) and his art. At the end, his sin is suicide, he jumps off the building, at the end laying in the cross that he drew. 3. Seungri, had just recently found out a woman he was involved with, to the point of going to her mother to introduce himself and possibly commit to, was using him. She was with someone else, that her parents might not approve of, and telling everyone that she wasn't with Seungri but telling Seungri she was with him. His frustration and rage is palpable. 4. Daesung, a few years before had been involved in a traffic accident where he ran over someone who may or may not have already been dead.A motorcyclist who had crashed into a pole while driving drunk. He was told over and over again, online and in the media, that he was a murderer and that he should kill himself. Even after the police cleared him of wrongdoing (there had been no way to avoid hitting the victim) he was still told to do the "honorable" thing and take his own life. To this day, he doesn't have social media because the hatred was so intense. The victim's family convinced him to go back to his music and to live well. Here in the video he is literally getting the crap kicked out of him and even when he tries to fight back he is still defeated. 5. The most problematic, TOP....oh this part has caused a lot of controversy over the years...TOP suffers from pretty extreme panic disorder and has had an almost pathological need to be completely covered from head to toe with no skin showing. His own bandmates had very rarely seen him without clothes on. As the years of fame, surrounded by people who literally want to tear his clothes off, have gone on...we've seen him to the point of flinching when any of his skin was revealed or touched. You can see him in interviews clutching on to Daesung or Taeyang to stop his panic. Cut to the video, everything in his home is covered with sheets, so that no one can touch anything, not even him. There are several girls in these shots, that he has one night stands with, because you can't be intimate with someone you don't know. When the girl tries to undress him you see him remove her finger with disgust. Then another girl tries to uncover something and he reacts violently. Grabbing her by the chin and walking her backwards. And yes, it is abuse. He puts his gloved hand on her. He's allowing us to see what it is he truly fears from intimacy, that if he lets anyone really see him/touch him/become intimate...he will hurt them. I think many men have this fear. Then later, and this is controversial, but some of us think, he killed one. He's covered in blood walking in alley in his pajamas and slippers...He's the biggest loser of all of them. He's got that Scorpio temper and panic disorder and fear of intimacy and now there's no going back, he has done the unforgivable. A few years ago, he was involved in a marijuana scandal (super illegal in S. Korea, they think of it as if it is crack) and was facing prison time. After his arrest he was found unconscious, having taken an overdose of his psych meds and sleeping pills. He was in a coma for a few days. When he recovered, he apologized to his fans and to his mother for his selfishness and he was sentenced to probation and dismissed from the military. He then did his service by working in a museum, teaching children how to make ceramics. Leading a life out of the spotlight for the most part for two years. I tell you all this so you have a context of understanding the support that TOP gets from VIPs. Since his release, TOP has been seen wearing unbuttoned shirts, shaking hands with people without gloves and generally not appearing to be suffering as much with his mental problems. So perhaps in this video, really showing his fears, his self-hatred, and his despair he had started the healing necessary to being a healthy artist and human being. Who else but Big Bang would allow their audience to see their human foibles?!? AND have everyone singing along?! Knowing that they may be super talented but they are just like all of us, human and flawed, has only increased their audience. I'm so glad you stopped the video and talked about the TOP scene and that's why I've written you an essay.(self-deprecating lol) I've watched a lot of reactions where people were clearly disturbed but then glossed over it. Kudos to you both for addressing your distaste for the scene and having a discussion about abuse. Thank you.
lilithofnodCA thank you this is one of the best analyses I’ve read of the MV. Some other things to note about GDragon’s part is the sign reading Do Not Enter, Wrong Way. We all know GDs struggle with his identity of whether he is Kwon Jiyong or Gdragon and I think part of that is he feels like if he is truly himself people won’t accept him. That path seems closed to him. That’s also why the truth + dare. Does he dare to tell the truth because if he does everyone will hate him. Now my own speculation is that it has a lot to do with his sexuality, which is a definite taboo in Sokor. And hence another reason why he is so lonely because he’s not able to love who he wants to love. Again this is just speculation not fact, so please don’t take it as such.

However GD's section could be expanded on....one of my friends is convinced that it isn't his sexuality that he wants to tell the truth about but his relationship (possible marriage) with Dara. I've always thought that GD like David Bowie is all inclusive with his sexuality....and that's not ok in S.Korea.

Bigbang will do that to you - hit you in the feels when you least expect it. GDragon one of the most prolific lyricists in Sokor. What’s amazing though is that not only GD but each of the others have great solo careers and also write music. And they’re all different to each other. Maybe you should do a solo binge? Taeyang is the one who was singing at the end, he has one of kind voice and he is the main vocal in the group. He and GD are best friends from 13 years old, they trained together for more than 6 years. You should check TAEYANG Eyes, nose, lips. What is best about BIGBANG is that each member is HUGE TALENTED on their own. They all have their own solo, and each has its own color. Daesung has a beautiful voice that has a rock feel to it - check out SHUT UP. Seungri has my favourite voice, his voice maybe sounds not that strong as Taeyang and Daesung, but it connects and gives a totally different feel - 1,2,3,4. TOP is TOP, his rap-artist and you should see DOOM DADA .

Loser was the 1st song BIGBANG released in their comeback in 2015 after a 3 year hiatus. They said they created this song to show the human side of the group. It strips off the glamour of the idol and shows the vulnerable side to the group that are human are just like everyone else. They have moments of weakness and being at the lowest of lows and feeling alone. This song took Song of the Year in 2015 for one of the award shows. (2 of their other songs won song of the year for the other award shows).
Their full MAMA 2015 live performance is honestly one of the best performances I've seen. They perform "Loser," "Bae Bae," and "Bang Bang Bang." They always turn an award show into a Big Bang concert. You should really check out the "Bae Bae" video, it's, um, interesting.
BIGBANG is the only group until now that has the courage to show their weak, human side in their music. This song got the best Song of the year and everyone in South Korea knew it. Gdragon wrote this song that depicts every member's fear. And the cross says "sin will find you" (Taeyang is religious). Im excited for you guys to see IF YOU live performance. On that stage, even without the lyrics, you would feel the emotion. And thats also the dynamics that GD put in that song. They didnt record an MV for that, but when they recorded the album version, GD had everyone wake up and do the recording in the wee hours- cause he said the husky voice people get in those hours will bring out the emotions he wanted to convey. Thanks to him, Bigbang has some of the best lyrics in the industry but when he writes from his heart for himself too, it's just on another level for me. But you should totally check out Taeyang's Eyes, Nose, Lips mv in the meantime since you love his voice, if you're going to check it out I highly recommend Tablo's cover of Eyes, Nose, Lips ft Taeyang as well. It's completely in English and he rewrites the lyrics to fit his own heart. Tablo is part of a hip hop group called Epik High who are Bigbang's seniors. I'm thankful to all VIPs who took time out explaining the minute details that possibly only a fan would have noticed/ understood. @40plus I don't know how to put it but you see the reason why VIPs are soo invested into BIGBANG as a group is not just because we love and relate to their music but also cuz in a industry that runs on manufactured standards and predetermined personas BIGBANG stood out ( at least for me) they tried to show their fans their most vulnerable and Human sides as artists disregarding the whole norm of the industry whr the idol needs to have a perfect unflawed "divine" image. When the industry called them ugly and flawed they chose to break the false perception that idols are just people who want to sing and be free. In times when fans dominate the success of the group and when the companies would do anything to please the fans they scolded us for being annoying and invading their privacy, they set us straight whn we did the wrong thing, they told us not to worry abt charts and rankings and to sleep and not buy merch if we didn't have money, they showed us tht even they could make mistakes and gave us an opportunity to share in the pain. They showed us tht they are Human and are allowed to live their lives like normal people even if it's too difficult considering the fame. They've taught us tht its okay to be flawed and broken because that is just a part of being human... What BIGBABNG show's u is what BIGBANG is! thats what we believe. I remember when this came out I WAS SOBBING since I was already aware of their issues and past scandals at the time. The music, the video, the lyrics... everything is just raw and genuine. And while they all drew from their own experiences, you can still relate to it. Amazing.

BigBang is edgy. They remind me of the 80's, where I was at an age where anything was possible. It also reminds me of self-loathing because of mistakes. We've all felt this at some point in our life. I've been a VIP for 11 years and some ask why. My answer is always the same... BigBang is me and I am BigBang. 🥰
This is one of the videos that artists do that's one of the "hints at the truth". Now, they've emphasized and overblown issues, but these are likely overblown aspects of themselves that they were struggling with or saw as flaws. Now, Taeyang likely didn't want to kill himself, but he's a Christian. Was he having a crisis of faith? Maybe. GD might not have wanted to lie down in the middle of the street, but he might of felt very alone as a celebrity. Who in Korea can relate to what GD goes through on a day to day basis? TOP might not have LITERALLY MURDERED A WOMAN FOR TOUCHING HIS ART AND BODY. But was he overly obsessed with art and with cleanliness? Maybe. Did Seungri have jealousy and anger issues? Did Daesung feel weak and want to lash out? Maybe to both. These videos are usually not the truth. But there usually is a seed of the truth, especially with a group like Big Bang. One of their best songs. Might be their best.

I really wish you could react to the whole Mama performance, it's such a great performance. Also, you did confuse Taeyang for G-dragon.😂 It's understandable though, since they both have great voices and you're "getting to know them." T.O.P (in real life) is really into art. He owns multiple famous art pieces and appreciates artists/art pieces. He doesn't like to be touched or have his body exposed. He is a "homebody (doesn't go out of his house much)" with few friends. He also has quite a peculiar personality and way of thinking. 2. (In the M/V) T.O.P does end up murdering the girl (or it's insinuated). There are a few reasons of why he could have done it. One of them which is often mentioned is that she touches his art with her bare hands (he loves art and it could become ruined by it ). Another is that he could be figuratively signifying the damage that a one-night stand could do to a person. It can be dirty, gritty, and lot of feelings can be hurt. Also, the other "person is essentially dead to him the day after and he breaks the connection." I think this is more plausible since he talks about "being irresponsible with women and just being with them for one night in the M/V (story)." 3. I don't know about all of the quotes, but I'll sure that there are multiple authors. For example: "Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable" is by Cesar A. Cruz.

You'll finally hear T.O.P's vocals. 3. MADE is Bigbang's only 3rd studio album since 2006. Initially and prior to the full album, they released 2 title tracks on the 1st days of May, June and July, and 5th August of 2015. It's as follows: "M" - Loser and Bae Bae "A" - Bang Bang Bang and We Like To Party "D" - If You (No MV) and Sober "E" - Zutter (GD/TOP) and Let's Not Fall In Love 4. I remember hearing this song Loser after hearing their songs Bang Bang Bang and Fantastic Baby and it shocked me. I didn't think Bigbang could make a song like this. It inspired me to check out more of their music and now I am a proud V.I.P. You could have a live session to react to their music videos in order, like you did for Loona. In my opinion, Bigbang have one of the best discographies of any kpop group and it is well worth checking out. Notably, all members also have successful solo work. NOOOOOO!!!!! WHY??!!! OMG, I'm a little mad at y'all right now. You just stopped the most iconic performance by a KPOP group EVER at the worst possible moment....WHY??? It's like you watched Jimi Hendrix douse his guitar with lighter fluid and then went, oh well i can guess where this is going and stopped watching!!! There's an artist trying to take you on a journey and you got off at the first exit....man...I really hope you try this again...because...wow, you are missing the point! They start out with Loser, segue into Bae Bae (with comic assist by Seungri) to get the crowd back from the sadness of Loser and then hit you with original choreography from THE Parris Goebbel Royal Family and then get you on your feet and dancing to Bang Bang Bang. It's an emotional roller coaster that ends with the iconic pose, Kings of Kpop!!! *sigh* I'm disappointed....truly. Please even if you don't react, do yourself a favor and watch the entire 2015 performance. They literally dropped the mic, because they will probably never perform at MAMA again AND you've deprived yourself of the entirety of their artistry in this performance. Sorry, just my opinion I guess...but seriously wanted to see your reactions to this pivotal performance not only in their career but in how it affected every other Kpop live performance that followed. You wouldn't have BTS doing a 24 minute set or iKON doing interpretative dance at future award shows if it hadn't have been for this moment in Kpop history.

so yeah I know you dont check for requests here but anyways This song is a tearjerker of BigBang proportions, ive talked before about Idols vs Artists, and the stuff this group has went through no Idol group can survive, they have transitioned (long time ago i know) to artists and they have the GP (general population) support, not just the fandom, because they have something to say, something to give, something that doesnt come from a persona (nothing wrong with that, love me that idol music), but from the soul... so for the request on the artist side of things Lee Hi with Breathe for a real tearjerker do a double check her life perfomance at GDA the version thats about 7 minutes long, its heartbreaking, the story and background of the song, the sad circumstance (dont want to get into it, the long video will kinda explain a bit) of the perfomance coupled with her beatiful voice.... For another artist that goes deep into metaphors, check AKMU do a double for the fun side check "200%" for the deep side check "How Can I Love The Heartbreak" or "Melted" lastly for some GD check "crooked" the vibe is upbeat, but coupled with lyrics it gets another level a more desperate upbeat sound PS not from a fandom just like what i like, so sry if i got anything wrong, its just from my point of view

I have seen at least one of your reactions. I am a multi kpop fandom fan. I dropped American music in 2009 because Kpop hooked me bad. So Bigbang and other YG Entertainment musicians were my favorite. Bigbang was my first choice, 2NE1 was my second. I however focused on watching kpop weekly music shows so was exposed to many other incredible artists. As long as Bigbang was out and performing somewhere I watched their every move. I also watched lesser know artists that I found very talented and had growing merit. One of them I watched closely from 2013 was BTS. Bigbang went into the military and BTS exploded. I had Seungri to watch and I think he is really Great! But it was BTS I watched the past year very closely and bought all their albums. I am very pleased you will watch Bigbang. Okay, at the time Loser was released Bigbang said so many fans treated them like they were out-of-this-world incredible. They were idolized and treated like they were Gods. Part of the intent of this song and movie video was to just show they were human with faults. Each Bigbang member choose their own creative way to express this.
Every song they wrote all reflected to what they been through. Imagine working in Kpop with critical culture in Korea not easy but Bigbang still could pull through like that and they will overcome this hurdle. And if they can this time it means how talented they are. Their performance this come in April in America is very important for them. You should not miss this chance to see them live this time.
Also I think you were right to pause and question TOP putting his hands on her, were not meant to excuse that or find it justifiable. I think this MV shows the deepest darkest parts of them in unflattering ways , ie TOP and seungri getting violent, or in helpless relatable ways like Daseung and Taeyang

Question: What's the significance of "Truth or Dare" on GD's neck?
1. I had NO idea Taeyang could sing like that. Damn!

3. On Taeyang's camper there are all kinds of quotes, some I can make out and some I can't

Top has some issues with touching other people. He is natural with friends and close ones but not with everyone, so it could be one reason why he was rude to a girl.
The other one, he really likes and understands art. And the girl there was kinda touching some art piece with her bare hands, so it could get him mad too
40Plus So as you two noticed, this song is about each of the member’s shortcomings. Some background information of each member in relation to the song, almost every member experienced forms of depression (especially GD and TOP). Taeyang and Daesung are both very religious (Daesung’s father being a priest). There has always been dating scandals involving them.
With these in mind, the mv itself tells a different story per member which shows how they are losers in the following:
G - Dragon: As I stated before, he’s gone through depression and his mental health has taken a toll from the attention and pressure from the name of BIGBANG. In the mv, GD feels the emptiness and loneliness after going from all the lights, cameras, and attention. He goes through the rest of the video walking through the streets restlessly as if trying to find himself/purpose but in the end lays on the street in front of the car about to be run over.
TOP: He’s well known to not show any skin apart from his face, hands, neck, and maybe a little chest. It is very rare of him to be topless or even with short sleeves. He’s also the member that has suffered from depression most. He has tried to commit suicide through overdosing on his antidepressants. He usually stays at home and drinks wine with his phone off. He can be very sensitive so in the scene where he’s with the woman, the woman touched his art (which he says helps to calm himself and inspire him). In response, he angrily grabbed her chin and later in the video where he falls on his knees he has killed the woman and deeply regrets it.
Seungri: He has had the most dating scandals among the boys. One such story was when he has thought he was dating a girl as they had exchanged letters and he had talked with her mother. However, a mutual friend of the girl and GD found out that the girl was seeing someone else and did not consider herself to be dating Seungri. Here in the mv you can see he is very much upset that his girlfriend was cheating on him.
Taeyang: As you figured out, in the junkyard with the dog, he lost his faith and jumped off the roof; committing suicide.
Daesung: I feel, though, the most obvious storyline, was the most relatable. Bullying and being beaten and not being able to fight back even if you tried.
Heartbreaking, each one. However, as you said, it’s nice to see artists creating such somber and profound content. They show they are still humans and have their own lows and regrets and imperfections.

I haven't finished watching your reaction, but I feel the need to answer some of the questions you've had, and for those that know me, they know that I have a lot of opinions on the song, Loser. First, there is another reactor who breaks down her interpretation and it is pretty solid, but I think she got a major point wrong, in that she said the group were acting out another member's fears/issues. I don't think so. I think they are each talking about themselves. If you are easily triggered please don't read any more of this. These are only my opinions mixed with a general consensus of reactors and reviewers.
1. G-Dragon is himself. His tattoo reads truth + dare, perhaps daring to tell the truth? From the beginning where he is in an elevator after a concert going up to yet another hotel room in a city that is far from home with no one. All alone. He has written many songs about his loneliness and in this video with the drawn noose on his sideburn, the butterfly knife, and the bat..he is thinking of hurting himself, possibly killing himself, laying down in the middle of the road almost begging to be killed so he can be done and still no one sees him or his pain.
2. Taeyang, the most religious of the group, is seen making a cross that reads, Sin Will Find You. He draws it on the ground. His only companion is his dog (side note that is his real dog, who died shortly after this video was shot) and his art. At the end, his sin is suicide, he jumps off the building, at the end laying in the cross that he drew.
3. Seungri, had just recently found out a woman he was involved with, to the point of going to her mother to introduce himself and possibly commit to, was using him. She was with someone else, that her parents might not approve of, and telling everyone that she wasn't with Seungri but telling Seungri she was with him. His frustration and rage is palpable.
4. Daesung, a few years before had been involved in a traffic accident where he ran over someone who may or may not have already been dead.A motorcyclist who had crashed into a pole while driving drunk. He was told over and over again, online and in the media, that he was a murderer and that he should kill himself. Even after the police cleared him of wrongdoing (there had been no way to avoid hitting the victim) he was still told to do the "honorable" thing and take his own life. To this day, he doesn't have social media because the hatred was so intense. The victim's family convinced him to go back to his music and to live well. Here in the video he is literally getting the crap kicked out of him and even when he tries to fight back he is still defeated.
5. The most problematic, TOP....oh this part has caused a lot of controversy over the years...TOP suffers from pretty extreme panic disorder and has had an almost pathological need to be completely covered from head to toe with no skin showing. His own bandmates had very rarely seen him without clothes on. As the years of fame, surrounded by people who literally want to tear his clothes off, have gone on...we've seen him to the point of flinching when any of his skin was revealed or touched. You can see him in interviews clutching on to Daesung or Taeyang to stop his panic.
Cut to the video, everything in his home is covered with sheets, so that no one can touch anything, not even him. There are several girls in these shots, that he has one night stands with, because you can't be intimate with someone you don't know. When the girl tries to undress him you see him remove her finger with disgust. Then another girl tries to uncover something and he reacts violently. Grabbing her by the chin and walking her backwards. And yes, it is abuse. He puts his gloved hand on her. He's allowing us to see what it is he truly fears from intimacy, that if he lets anyone really see him/touch him/become intimate...he will hurt them. I think many men have this fear.
Then later, and this is controversial, but some of us think, he killed one. He's covered in blood walking in alley in his pajamas and slippers...He's the biggest loser of all of them. He's got that Scorpio temper and panic disorder and fear of intimacy and now there's no going back, he has done the unforgivable.
A few years ago, he was involved in a marijuana scandal (super illegal in S. Korea, they think of it as if it is crack) and was facing prison time. After his arrest he was found unconscious, having taken an overdose of his psych meds and sleeping pills. He was in a coma for a few days. When he recovered, he apologized to his fans and to his mother for his selfishness and he was sentenced to probation and dismissed from the military. He then did his service by working in a museum, teaching children how to make ceramics. Leading a life out of the spotlight for the most part for two years.
I tell you all this so you have a context of understanding the support that TOP gets from VIPs. Since his release, TOP has been seen wearing unbuttoned shirts, shaking hands with people without gloves and generally not appearing to be suffering as much with his mental problems. So perhaps in this video, really showing his fears, his self-hatred, and his despair he had started the healing necessary to being a healthy artist and human being.
Who else but Big Bang would allow their audience to see their human foibles?!? AND have everyone singing along?! Knowing that they may be super talented but they are just like all of us, human and flawed, has only increased their audience.
I'm so glad you stopped the video and talked about the TOP scene and that's why I've written you an essay.(self-deprecating lol) I've watched a lot of reactions where people were clearly disturbed but then glossed over it. Kudos to you both for addressing your distaste for the scene and having a discussion about abuse. Thank you.

lilithofnodCA thank you this is one of the best analyses I’ve read of the MV. Some other things to note about GDragon’s part is the sign reading Do Not Enter, Wrong Way. We all know GDs struggle with his identity of whether he is Kwon Jiyong or Gdragon and I think part of that is he feels like if he is truly himself people won’t accept him. That path seems closed to him. That’s also why the truth + dare. Does he dare to tell the truth because if he does everyone will hate him. Now my own speculation is that it has a lot to do with his sexuality, which is a definite taboo in Sokor. And hence another reason why he is so lonely because he’s not able to love who he wants to love. Again this is just speculation not fact, so please don’t take it as such.

However GD's section could be expanded on....one of my friends is convinced that it isn't his sexuality that he wants to tell the truth about but his relationship (possible marriage) with Dara. I've always thought that GD like David Bowie is all inclusive with his sexuality....and that's not ok in S.Korea.

What is best about BIGBANG is that each member is HUGE TALENTED on their own. They all have their own solo, and each has its own color. Daesung has a beautiful voice that has a rock feel to it - check out SHUT UP. Seungri has my favourite voice, his voice maybe sounds not that strong as Taeyang and Daesung, but it connects and gives a totally different feel - 1,2,3,4. Loser was the 1st song BIGBANG released in their comeback in 2015 after a 3 year hiatus. They said they created this song to show the human side of the group. It strips off the glamour of the idol and shows the vulnerable side to the group that are human are just like everyone else. They have moments of weakness and being at the lowest of lows and feeling alone. This song took Song of the Year in 2015 for one of the award shows. (2 of their other songs won song of the year for the other award shows).
Their full MAMA 2015 live performance is honestly one of the best performances I've seen. They perform "Loser," "Bae Bae," and "Bang Bang Bang." They always turn an award show into a Big Bang concert. You should really check out the "Bae Bae" video, it's, um, interesting.

Im excited for you guys to see IF YOU live performance. On that stage, even without the lyrics, you would feel the emotion. And thats also the dynamics that GD put in that song. They didnt record an MV for that, but when they recorded the album version, GD had everyone wake up and do the recording in the wee hours- cause he said the husky voice people get in those hours will bring out the emotions he wanted to convey. @40plus I don't know how to put it but you see the reason why VIPs are soo invested into BIGBANG as a group is not just because we love and relate to their music but also cuz in a industry that runs on manufactured standards and predetermined personas BIGBANG stood out ( at least for me) they tried to show their fans their most vulnerable and Human sides as artists disregarding the whole norm of the industry whr the idol needs to have a perfect unflawed "divine" image. When the industry called them ugly and flawed they chose to break the false perception that idols are just people who want to sing and be free.
In times when fans dominate the success of the group and when the companies would do anything to please the fans they scolded us for being annoying and invading their privacy, they set us straight whn we did the wrong thing, they told us not to worry abt charts and rankings and to sleep and not buy merch if we didn't have money, they showed us tht even they could make mistakes and gave us an opportunity to share in the pain. They showed us tht they are Human and are allowed to live their lives like normal people even if it's too difficult considering the fame. They've taught us tht its okay to be flawed and broken because that is just a part of being human...
What BIGBABNG show's u is what BIGBANG is! thats what we believe. To us BIGBANG is not just a group of highly talented artists they're a close knit family who in their imperfect perfections decided to share a part of themselves with the world

I remember when this came out I WAS SOBBING since I was already aware of their issues and past scandals at the time.
The music, the video, the lyrics... everything is just raw and genuine. And while they all drew from their own experiences, you can still relate to it. Amazing.
Dont underestimate VIPs we maybe well known to the kpop group as the laziest fandom be it in streaming,voting,polls etc. But once we set our hearts in to one thing. REMEMBER! We get what we want. No excuses.

BigBang is edgy. They remind me of the 80's, where I was at an age where anything was possible. It also reminds me of self-loathing because of mistakes. We've all felt this at some point in our life. I've been a VIP for 11 years and some ask why. My answer is always the same... BigBang is me and I am BigBang. 🥰
This is one of the videos that artists do that's one of the "hints at the truth". Now, they've emphasized and overblown issues, but these are likely overblown aspects of themselves that they were struggling with or saw as flaws.

This m/v is one of their most powerful and compellig m/vs. Kudos to the director who helped them with their vision on how the song should be portrayed. Your reaction to the messages.....well Bigbang always surprises newcomers because they don't follow a regimented style to their music. They can go from one genre to another. GD is a master lyricist and the top composer in all SK (has 171 songs written to date). You're barely scratching the surface of their work as a group. They also have their solo work so be sure to check them out as well. They are a force to be reckoned and their live performances compare to no one. And they will be in Coachella this year! Yay!

*To answer some of your questions:*
1. T.O.P (in real life) is really into art. He owns multiple famous art pieces and appreciates artists/art pieces. He doesn't like to be touched or have his body exposed. He is a "homebody (doesn't go out of his house much)" with few friends. He also has quite a peculiar personality and way of thinking.
2. (In the M/V) T.O.P does end up murdering the girl (or it's insinuated). There are a few reasons of why he could have done it. One of them which is often mentioned is that she touches his art with her bare hands (he loves art and it could become ruined by it ). Another is that he could be figuratively signifying the damage that a one-night stand could do to a person. It can be dirty, gritty, and lot of feelings can be hurt. Also, the other "person is essentially dead to him the day after and he breaks the connection." I think this is more plausible since he talks about "being irresponsible with women and just being with them for one night in the M/V (story)."
3. I don't know about all of the quotes, but I'll sure that there are multiple authors. For example: "Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable" is by Cesar A. Cruz.

You only saw a few of their songs and yet you were already hit by a big bang. I remember hearing this song Loser after hearing their songs Bang Bang Bang and Fantastic Baby and it shocked me. I didn't think Bigbang could make a song like this. It inspired me to check out more of their music and now I am a proud V.I.P. You could have a live session to react to their music videos in order, like you did for Loona. In my opinion, Bigbang have one of the best discographies of any kpop group and it is well worth checking out. Notably, all members also have successful solo work. NOOOOOO!!!!! WHY??!!! OMG, I'm a little mad at y'all right now. You just stopped the most iconic performance by a KPOP group EVER at the worst possible moment....WHY??? It's like you watched Jimi Hendrix douse his guitar with lighter fluid and then went, oh well i can guess where this is going and stopped watching!!! There's an artist trying to take you on a journey and you got off at the first exit....man...I really hope you try this again...because...wow, you are missing the point! They start out with Loser, segue into Bae Bae (with comic assist by Seungri) to get the crowd back from the sadness of Loser and then hit you with original choreography from THE Parris Goebbel Royal Family and then get you on your feet and dancing to Bang Bang Bang. It's an emotional roller coaster that ends with the iconic pose, Kings of Kpop!!! *sigh* I'm disappointed....truly. Please even if you don't react, do yourself a favor and watch the entire 2015 performance. They literally dropped the mic, because they will probably never perform at MAMA again AND you've deprived yourself of the entirety of their artistry in this performance. Sorry, just my opinion I guess...but seriously wanted to see your reactions to this pivotal performance not only in their career but in how it affected every other Kpop live performance that followed. You wouldn't have BTS doing a 24 minute set or iKON doing interpretative dance at future award shows if it hadn't have been for this moment in Kpop history.

This song is a tearjerker of BigBang proportions, ive talked before about Idols vs Artists, and the stuff this group has went through no Idol group can survive, they have transitioned (long time ago i know) to artists and they have the GP (general population) support, not just the fandom, because they have something to say, something to give, something that doesnt come from a persona (nothing wrong with that, love me that idol music), but from the soul... so for the request on the artist side of things
Lee Hi with Breathe for a real tearjerker do a double check her life perfomance at GDA the version thats about 7 minutes long, its heartbreaking, the story and background of the song, the sad circumstance (dont want to get into it, the long video will kinda explain a bit) of the perfomance coupled with her beatiful voice....

I have seen at least one of your reactions. I am a multi kpop fandom fan. I dropped American music in 2009 because Kpop hooked me bad. So Bigbang and other YG Entertainment musicians were my favorite. Bigbang was my first choice, 2NE1 was my second. I however focused on watching kpop weekly music shows so was exposed to many other incredible artists. As long as Bigbang was out and performing somewhere I watched their every move. I also watched lesser know artists that I found very talented and had growing merit. One of them I watched closely from 2013 was BTS. Bigbang went into the military and BTS exploded. I had Seungri to watch and I think he is really Great! But it was BTS I watched the past year very closely and bought all their albums. I am very pleased you will watch Bigbang. Okay, at the time Loser was released Bigbang said so many fans treated them like they were out-of-this-world incredible. They were idolized and treated like they were Gods. Part of the intent of this song and movie video was to just show they were human with faults. Each Bigbang member choose their own creative way to express this.

Also I think you were right to pause and question TOP putting his hands on her, were not meant to excuse that or find it justifiable. I think this MV shows the deepest darkest parts of them in unflattering ways , ie TOP and seungri getting violent, or in helpless relatable ways like Daseung and Taeyang
