- After speedrunning Super Mario Odyssey since the game came out I finally had the opportunity to try out Luigi's Balloon World. Here's how it went...

I have to say, I agree out of bounds with balloon world is frustrating. It makes you ask yourself every time, "Is this one legit?" Like I've said before, I wish there could be two categories: normal and glitched. Fun watching you do it, but very frustrating trying to find what is an impossible balloon for most people.

the person who hides the balloon gets less time than the person finding the balloon so at 13:51 the person who hid that balloon did it in less than 10 seconds.

He also couldn't throw cappy up there so he was up there by himself in under 10 seconds
@@dilobs I'm pretty sure the timer other players get is based on how much time your time spent timer is on by the end of hiding, not how many coins one grabs. I can do a really good route and get coins that only make my timer have 27 seconds left to hide it and the attacker would get 6 seconds to get it. Coins aren't a factor in how much starting time other players get.

Most people who play this game don't know about speedruns and don't play speedruns. I think I'm with a lot of the other people in this comment section that out of bounds balloons made me stop playing Luigi's Balloon world too lol. I would see something out of bounds and just deflate that I'd have to look up a guide to find it or something.
The game mode is pretty much exclusive to speedrunners lol. Which is fine I guess but most people aren't speedrunners.

Troy Vries Yes, the platforming/speedrunning + the finding is fun. What isn’t fun, is googling for 7 mins to find 1 glitch spot, then spending another 10 tryna do it, all while you’re wasting coins. You can say “well just find the ones hidden normally,” the thing is, for ever 10 glitched ones, there’s one normal one, no one wants to spend time + waste coins for 30 seconds of fun, so we don’t play the game mode anymore. It’s basically just become “do you know this glitch”. It’s ruined the game mode for most of us that literally just want to find balloons.
Troy Vries no, it’s not the same at all. Normal balloons make it a “fun lil game mode”, glitched balloons, for the average player, just aren’t fun for most people, It’s not hard to understand why people think glitched balloons aren’t fun. Most average players just want a few minutes of fun, glitched balloons turn that into 20+ minutes of googling TH-cam video tutorial watching, for a single balloon. That doesn’t fit everyone’s demographic, it’s really not hard to grasp.
Troy Vries the original comment says it all. For most average players, you see a glitched balloon and just go “ugh”. And the AMOUNT of glitched balloons is crazy too. In my case, for every like 7 glitched balloons, there’s 1 normal one, so I have to go through trying out a hidden ballon and finding a glitched balloon SIX times, go through the process of choosing another balloon SIX times, to find a single normal one. We shouldn’t have to do that. For god sake they’re out of bounds balloons, they’re NOT SUPPOSED to be there, idk how you’re struggling to grasp why people don’t want to try them.
@@Fade_ToBlack I think that the balloons need titles that will tell you which glitch is needed. That would save a lot of time figuring them out and still expose people to the cool out-of-bounds tricks.

Yeah but nintendo did patch some of the spot where you could glitch out of bounds by placing a trigger that warps you back to the starting point

It would have been cool if you could add tags to your balloons like “out of bounds”
One year later and after playing balloon world for several hours I didn’t get a single OOB balloon. Honestly very impressive on nintendo's part, although I’m not sure if they fixed the glitches or if they just have a mod team manually removing them.

I feel like the people who will put the balloons out of bounds don't give a shift about actually making it fun for people because for every failed attempt at finding those balloons, the players who hide them get coins and in the end that's all they care about is those coins, and also being trolls
@NeptuneTendo Well yes but people are supposed to be able to find them, leaving them out of bounds like that is an unfair exploit that ruins the mode for everyone else as at that point it's just an infinite coins exploit
@DarkCoreX Not really if you're making use of a bug/ glitch in the game which are, by their very definition, unintentional parts of the game, to hide these balloons. Oh and do I need to mention that Nintendo is banning anyone from Balloon World of who is caught doing this?

Out of bounds is part of the game, if they didn't want people to get out of bounds they would have patched it (like they did in metro kingdom)
This isn’t a reply to the original comment, nor is it a reply to @Master Cookies. For the other two of you, it’s a glitch. You saying “it’s intended because it wasn’t patched” is bullshit. Broodon’t wasn’t intended (clearly, if you go back to cascade after completing it captureless it goes as if madam broodal was defeated), but you can still do it. There can be unpatched glitches. And I honestly think they tried to patch it with the metro thing, but that didn’t apply to the other kingdoms. Even so, even if Nintendo WANTS YOU TO BREAK THEIR GAME, which they clearly don’t, then you doing it explicitly ruins balloon world for several players. That alone should prevent people from doing it. There are comments on this very video that say “I stopped balloon world because of glitched balloons.” All it does is ruin the fun for people who try to find your balloons and can’t and frustrate those that can but not consistently. People will spend hours trying to find your clever spot only to find it was in a wall that they don’t know how to clip into.
And if you think everyone can do it, you’re wrong. Plenty of people simply never learned the glitches, others have tried but can’t, some people don’t care. Some people can but not consistently and others can but agree with us when we say it’s cheesy.

I’m not one of the people you mentioned but I totally see where you’re coming from but I *personally* like out of bounds balloons because it’s an extra challenge and I like learning tricks to overcome these challenges. I think Nintendo should implement a system that automatically realises if a balloon is placed out of bounds or not and create separate sections for each. Anyway too bad Nintendo forgot about this game and won’t do anything like this.
