Kings winch repair that turns into replacing, 4wd, touring, overland.

- In this video I discover that my Kings winch is not working. So I pull it out with the intention of testing and repairing it. After removing the bullbar and speaking with Kings 4wd supacentre I find out it still under warranty and they replace it for me.
I then go about installing the new kings winch and talk you through the installation process.
A working winch is a necessity for 4wd, touring, overlanding, camping trip.

Great video Craig I’ve had my kings winch for five years and never had a problem with it. It’s one of those things and you’re definitely probably use it when you’re up on the Cape

New sub ere mate. Do you think 2 times use in 18 months is the cause for it not to be working or just a cheap AK product? I was always under the impression that you needed to regularly check and use a winch to keep it working efficiently

@@ottouring thanks for your reply. I agree 👍💯. We use a lot of king's gear and rarely have an issue and when we do their warranty returns are excellent. Weve had a 15L console fridge of theirs for years and it's copped serious abuse yet it still keeps plugging along
Great work fitting the winch. And I agree with you about Kings Aftersales service. I've had to return a couple of items and since they were still under warranty, they were replaced on the spot. Because of this, it gives me higher confidence to continue to buy from them. Quick Q...if you had to buy a new winch (not replaced by warranty), will you still buy the Kings Domin8r Xtreme winch? Or will you get a different brand? I'm looking to get a winch and was eyeing that same winch you got. What's your thoughts on it?

I just Ed tested it out last week when I really needed it and it was awesome .
You are looking at it wrong. Its not the motor its the solenoid. Its a common problem. The solenoid in the new one will end up doing the same. The winch isn't too bad for the typical Chinese winch (they all use parts from two main companies in China). Replace the Solenoid with a Albright DC88 and it will last for ever...

Yeah not looking forward to fixing my winch if I have problems ,same 4wd as u, 09 hilux, pay the professionals I think

I put the winch to the test on last trip and works a treat.
