i dont remember how its called..but he actually picks the notes and he plays with the volume knob...and creates the feeling of an violin..(if you search in internet guitar violion technique there will be plenty of lessons) hope this helps
@ordepcbmt Its a malmsteen signature with dimarzio pups. the new ones (the one i have) come with seymour pickups and they sound great! the dimarzios are a bit more agressive though.
forever forgoten you have to have a fender strat or another guitar where your volume knob is close enough so you can turn it up and down as you play. Makes a violin like sound. They're called "volume swells"
oh sorry the example is not from black star, the pattern is something else here, what i said was in the solo from 1984 with alcatrazz, but the technique with the delay is the same
