The Children of Nicholas II: Grand Duchess Tatiana Nikolaevna

Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia and Alexei were the five children of the last Tsar of Russia, Nicholas II and his wife, Alexandra Feodrovna. The entire family was tragically wiped out by the Bolsheviks during the first World War after they were imprisoned for a little over a year. In this five part series we will reflect all of their lives separately each Wednesday.

All of the Romanov girls were beautiful, but Tatiana was the peach of the lot. Intelligent, strong character, eyes that would look into the bottom of your soul. She could have won the hearts of many young men, and I'm sure she did, notwithstanding the conventions of her day.

She is my favorite of the OTMA sisters. I simply found her amazing with her modest, spontaneous and humble way, though surround by luxury she preferred kindness over power. Would be a perfect life if wasn't by that tragic end.

Thank you for the clip!! I love it!! Tatiana is definitely the most elegant among her siblings. She is also the leader & the most responsible among the siblings!! I don't know why, but it seems to me Tatiana has a classic beauty look similar to that of actress Audrey Hepburn (I am not saying she looks a lot like Audrey but has a classic look similar to that like the actress). It wasn't Tsarskoe Selo, it was the governor's mansion in Tobolsk that the children, sans Maria, stayed at while Alexei recovered from hemophilia. Other than that, you pretty much got everything correct, except none of the children had brown eyes, that was a misprint that Sophie Bushoeveden made in her memoir. Photos back then often showed colors as black or brown when they were actually blonde or blue.

They all went to tobolsk together at first. Later it was Maria who accompanied her parents to Yekaterinburg, leaving the others behind for a short time. When Alexei was feeling better the rest went to Yekaterinburg.

They were not in Tsarskoye Selo when Nicholas, Alexandra and Maria left for Yekaterinburg
