The music of this song is Beethoven's symphony number 9," ode to joy"...Then comes this music reminiscent of a military march and the explosion...I really like to see Connor Oberst again , being so humble and also to hear the name of Townes Van Zandt, Dylan and Cohen as references for him... I'm glad you like his univers ! It's really worth it !

My father was always a classical enthusiast. I can appreciate music without being a fan, I prefer music that's lyrically driven like Oberst or Dylan. My dad's favorite symphony was always Beethoven's 9th which has a poem that inspired the 4th movement commonly known as "Ode to Joy." It's written as irony as the poem is politically charged and meant as a message of discord towards the powers that be. My favorite song is Road to Joy Because I think one of the most profound statements is made and it is done so in just a few simple words
"I Hope I don't sound too ungrateful what history gave modern men.A telephone to talk to strangers machine guns and the camera lens."
Basically, we have phones.We could talk this but instead we're going to Tell each other.... And our actions are forever recorded on film.
Love these bright eyes reactions. This was their first major live TV performance and he was obviously super nervous! He’s gotten more comfortable in the spotlight through the years. This one brings back memories. Hopefully you’ll get to some newer stuff or his solo stuff one of these days but I’ll enjoy anything you check out by Conor. Fun to watch someone discover his work.

Bright Eyes is best at an album-level in my opinion… they put a lot of thought into all of their albums and they’re usually very coherent thematically and musically.
