Duck’s face resembles my late Pekingese, Pinkie. She was such a princess and only adored a few people and tolerated everyone else. I miss her so much. She crossed the rainbow bridge 8/16/22 and I still miss her and think of her every single day.
We had two Pekingese back in the early 80s. They are "snappers". They have a temper. They're very loving, cuddly, playful, and loyal, but they can SNAP!!! in an instant. We had bought books about Pekingese and also asked the vet, and when she asked "what kind of dogs?" and we said "Pekingese!", she said "oh, hahaha, the snappy ones". They were beautiful; we groomed them all the time. But just like Chihuahuas can have tempers, these dogs snap.
Since when have Pekingese been rare? They aren't as popular as they were in the 70s, but I wouldn't call them rare. I've never met one who liked to be groomed. One of my parents' dogs would only tolerate it for an hour - after, regardless if you were done, he was out of there. 😂
Maybe not the rarest of breeds but we certainly don't see a lot of them around haha, Duck is a very well behaved pekingese, but, his brother who we will do a video on soon is a bit more like that. 😂
Oh so true. In the early 70’s to the 80’s my mum had 3 pekingese. She had to brush them every day, it takes her about 30 min per dog. when there were vet appointments, the in house groomer trims them.
@@TheRealdal Golden Retrievers and poodle-mixes are all the rage. I don't understand why anyone would want a golden retriever - they're very susceptible to cancer. I've never known any that didn't get cancer.

Always gotta be careful with pekingese haha, but, lucky for us Duck is very sweet 💕 & easygoing.
I have a Pekingese, 3 yr old., male. Very lovable! No snapping. Not all Pekingese are like that.
They were probably mistreated as a puppy. 😢

I had a Pekingese and can honestly say I’ve only seen about 3-4 in community in 15 years. You just don’t see them like you used to.
