David Austin rose - William Morris Spring 2021

- William Morris has been blooming non stop for 4 weeks for me since spring started. It had been attacked badly by thrips for few weeks. Those thrips are finally gone now. Luckily I still have enough buds for it to bloom beautifully now. It is located at a quite shady area and I think it actually like the shade better than the full sun. The bloom last a lot longer under the shade. I think it is one of my biggest surprise performer this spring for how much blooms it deliver in its second year!

This video made me fall in love with this rose. And then I found out it was discontinued! Checked through all of the usual rose nursery websites and it's really not available. If anyone has a rooted cutting in the continental USA, let me know.

Hi, does William Morris suitable for full sun position? I started planting roses since last year, now William Morris became my favorite rose, love it so much! Planning give it the best position in the backyard but that position is in full sun.

I totally agree with you and I am very happy to hear that you get to plant it. This rose is hard to find in US. Not sure about Japan. Totally worth a spot in the garden.
@@backyardparadise2334 oh, it has been discontinued i think since last yr but im not sure of the exact date. now u can only get them from a few places that still have them (but will eventually discontinue aswell due to main plant). regardless of this...discontinued DA roses sell out the moment it drops! it was so stressful for me to get Evelyn because u have to be quick with the mouse and i failed TWICE!! japan is a CRAZY rose nation i tell u!! i hope japan releases some japanese bred roses to US oneday (if they havent already). their roses are bred to stand japan’s high humidity and heat so i think florida would be perfect for it.

I am writing to you from Copenhagen. Do you have some seeds or cuttings I could buy from you. cuttings are actually allowed to enter Denmark, as long they are without leaves or flower. This rose is stunning!!! Your rose is diffrent from the normal William Morris. It looks much more like a Juliet rose. Ausjameson.

It’s so beautiful. I’m so sad it’s not offered anymore. Would you consider selling the cuttings on eBay? I’d totally buy them from you. You wouldn’t even need to take the time to root them, I’d do it myself. You’d just cut, wrap in a damp towel, place in a plastic bag and send. Easy money for you. You’d make a killing. And people like me would get the variety we want. It’s a win win situation

what is the difference....abraham darby vs this...they look both same
Totally different. Abraham Darby open up flat and a lot bigger bloom. William Morris bloom in cluster and the bloom remain globular

They are both very similar. But WM blooms is more cup and Evelyn has bigger bloom

Congratulation for your lucky find. It is soooo hard to find WM nowadays. My top 10 roses just keep changing. 😆 I might do a top 10 roses next year spring just so that I can take time to observe them before I made any recommendations.

It is discontinued by DA and I bought it from Palatine rose last year spring. It is quite hard to find this rose now.

@@AnonyMous-zy4wu I am in US. It is discontinued in US by David Austin. I think there might be still available by some small nursery who still propagate or graft it. But not directly from David Austin
