I recall from a documentary Mont Campbell of Egg saying that part of what was going on with them was to write complex things just for the sake of extending that parameter of the music. I love Egg, but only in a fever dream could that day conceive of a Monobody. And here it goes full circle; complexity as a barrier is removed for the sake of getting to the core of musical ideas, expression, and ensemble.
