I think the new head sculpt is amazing and is pretty much as close to perfection as possible. I’ve never pre-ordered or owned any hot toys or other statues/ figures like this but I pre ordered this one it’s just too good. As well as the obi wan.
Great preview video ! The new head sculpt is night and day against the old one, so much need it, i almost bought it back recently, so happy i didn't because i was expecting exactly this 2.0 for the 25th anniversary and man they didn't disappoint. (except for that base) Greetings !!!

Truly excited for this one! Will be my first Darth Maul so going with the speeder but I will say... the standard collector's edition at $280 is a great price and it's tempting to go with that one! Great video, man!

This sculpt and paint are MUCH A BETTER. I have the Sideshow Maul. Used to have both dx17 and sideshow and sold the 17 because I just didn’t like the head sculpts. THIS is the perfect mix of both and I get to have my bike back!
Also they left out the tattoo grooves on the head sculpt on the new one! Much more accurate. I’m excited!

I'm leaning toward keeping the 1.0 as well, even if I upgrade. Pose the 1.0 up with the robes for the Tatooine skirmish, the 2.0 going all out for Duel of the Fates

Love collecting lately, so happy by not back collecting. Your DX 16 just went way down in price. This is an amazing release. Next 2.0 needs to Neo to get my collection to end game. All I know I'm not going to be on eaby this year at all. Thank you Marvel for the nose drive in popularity so we get other Hot Toys lines. Great day to be a collector.
Yes, its def a great day for Star Wars collectors! I'm not too bummed about my Maul cause I think I'll keep him and upgrade him through this new one.

That is so bad ass!! Darth Maul from Episode 1 and with his speeder, HELLS YEAH!! I just found out through Sammy's Collectable Toy Hall TH-cam channel, Hot Toys will also come out with Luke Skywalker Dark Empire artisan version, I'll be happy with just the standard version, it's going to be very difficult to obtain the artisan version.
Lucky for me the luke doesn’t interest me. My wallet is safe lol

Damn! I remember the time when I cancelled my Maul 1.0 preorder because I realize how inaccurate headsculpt is. It was a good decision :D New sculpture is damn brilliant. It's Ray Park. 1.0 looks like some Comic Con cosplayer. PS: Good things come to those who wait.

Great vid! You were fast with this one 😅 Definitely getting the deluxe version (with speeder) as I now have the DX16. Are you 100% sure that the new headsculpts will fit the old DX16? Because that one was magnetized. Please let met know :-)

A very unimaginative reissue. I was hoping to see a brand new 3rd headsculpt, or interchangeable new parts. At least even the Selina Kyle Catwoman recycle got a brand new base.
I’m really impressed with the new sculpts but yeah the base was a major kick in the pants

@Gosling_dkc like my name implies, it hits everyone differently. I'd put this up there with the Catwoman 2.0. Some may claim it's a lazy release, others say it's a masterpiece
I missed out on the original prequel version so this is a must buy. So many cool characters released lately. My poor wallet 😅
I’ve been lucky to really only be interested in this Maul and maybe ROTJ trooper but damn, so good for Star Wars fans lately!

Graeme, "Newbie" here ;). Could you dedicate a few mins to remind/define what a HT "announcement" means re: schedule(s)? IOW, just trying to understand rough terms & trends w/ figures. Like diffs in their announcements, a preview, a Pre-order, RSVP, Waitlist & terms like refresh or repaint & even Soldout (truly never to return?). Thanks!
When a figure is announced it will be available to preorder usually within a day or two. It likely will take 1-2 years to be released and once it sells out of stores the only place to find it is the secondary market.
RSVP is something you will need to do for limited run figures in order to have a chance to preorder.
Waitlist figures on sideshow means they are sold out but you have a slim chance to get it if someone cancels if you sign up for waitlist.

Thanks for the def. of "announcements"; didn't really know that. Though im tied into SS's site & media output options like texting & Twitter & TH-cam (don't do FB or TicTok), you cats' YT efforts (which IS work I understand) is useful= how we've learned to date.
Have quickly learned what's important to some collectors is ties to a series vs movies vs comics vs animation, etc.
Anyway, keep up the quality stuff & entertaining vids bud. 💪
(Added) Am slowly/still learning the diffs. with YT hosted previews vs reviews vs early influencers openings along w/ ETAs diffs in China vs Europe, and us in the US, etc. Figures shipping TODAY to Joe Public may have been reviewed 3-12+ mos earlier on YT! Crazy stuff.

@@thejediknightswatch In binge-educating myself since starting in Dec 2023, via several very good YT hosts like yourself and/or appreciated replies such as this, I've quickly learned, LOL, there's figure times when HT releases can be 12 to 24+ mos or not at all or even just a month or three out. Crazy... A 12mo advanced heads-up is fine, 24+ mos is silly it seems. But inaccuracy by 2-6-12 mos is poor MFG management.
There is literally no way in hell that people can complain this year I mean six figures last week and four Heavy Hitters this week come on and who knows if they might even drop one more for tomorrow this has been way better than last year I think I'm pretty much up to 10 figures combining the reveals as well as on sale figures of Star Wars and a weightless converted so I'm good and the fact that I'm going to Galaxy's Edge this weekend no room to complain at all
Lucky for me my wallet is marked safe from most of these but this maul is a must!
I will probably get the one with the speeder, since I got the DX16 (or whatever number) without. So far I am underwhelmed with today's releases. I would prefer to see NEW mainstream character figures, not re-releases or something from an obscure comix or video game.
I'm with you on being underwhelmed as of late, but I do think this Maul is so awesome and very welcomed! But yeah OT and even prequels seems to be getting lost in the shuffle lately.
I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am today of anything that hot toys revealed of Star Wars this was the one figure on this holiday that I wanted the most I refused to get the Darth Maul from solo cuz it didn't look right to me it was in my comic book store I saw it on Sideshow I could buy but I refuse no matter how many reviews or unboxings I didn't want it and I am glad that my patience paid off the deluxe with the Speeder bike is definitely coming home but I might even get the regular edition because the deluxe will be on the bike and for other poses and the other Maul will be used when I get a few of those MandalorianMaul this is a day one figure for me tomorrow cannot wait

Kinda salty HT is tanking the value of previously released figures with reissues or 2.0 but what can you do. Would’ve preferred to have seen them only do one SKU with just the figure to preserve the value on Speeder version but whatever. I’ll be picking up just the figure alone for the upgrades
I’m with you man! I feel like the old grumpy guy with all these reissues. This one though makes sense as that head sculpt was never great.
Remember it's not about you or I or anyone else.
It's about making money, for filling contracts and keeping contracts. If you want future figures then the company has to keep going and the most important and popular characters will always get reissued always new ppl coming into the hobby HT doesn't care what figures are going on secondary market they want to have the sales themselves.
