As an arab from Europe, i didn't grow up with indian music, but i find it so beautiful and fascinating, which is the reason i started to learn indian classical and carnatic music here on TH-cam. As a foreigner it can somestimes be a little hard to learn a complete different way of practicing music (compared to western). Especially when it's not "just music", it is a whole culture that contains soooo many different elements. Of all teachers I've tried to learn from, I can say you've helped me the best, and i have now come a very long way from scratch. Not only do you teach very comprehensively, but also in a fun manner that makes logically sense. Again, i wanna thank you for making it possible for a foreigner like me, to learn this indian music culture! I appreciate it madam. I will never stop learning from you.

Was feeling frustrated due to whatever problems in life, stumbled upon this channel, felt good, revived some old memories, wasn't able to pursue classical singing.
Hi Bidisha ma'am I completed my B Muse in vocal from bhatkhande sangeet vidyapeeth long back. But due could not pursue masters due to health issues for which my Guruji gifted me a violin so that I can continue learning classical music. I am a deciple of Minati Khound ma'am who is the disciple of Pandit VG Jog. Now after 5 years of gap I am trying my hands in violin and your videos are so enlightening that I have started singing these Ragas again. You are superb. Love from Assam.

Hi Bidisha, my name is Rina from UK. l am so glad to find you. I just lost my Mum, l was very down, l was reflecting my Mum’s life, music was the top most things in my Mum’s life. She was a radio singer in lndia long time ago. So l was listening some of my Mum’s recording, than l was going through my Mum’s things such as music notes, Harmoniam, which she has had gifted me last year. I never thought l will learn music or play Harmoniam. But today is my Mum’s celebration of life l was own my self, l couldn’t do much, didn’t invite any of my family and friends, because in Uk it is still Lock Down. So l phone few friends and did a Zoom prayers and singing. All of my friends saying how good was my Mum’s singing, and they said l should carry on singing. I am very blessed, l think l found , l can’t explain how happy I am, to be your student. Bidisha ji, please accept my humble Pranam , your teaching style is excellent, it is so beautiful to practicing with you, feels like l am in the presence of you . How can anyone be this much perfectionist on this platform, and that is too without charging a single penny from anyone. I wish to tell this below story 👇🏻 I am kind of a bad bathroom singer, who never did any practice or training, infact used to get bored when heard about the techniques of music. But today suddenly i thought to check on TH-cam, and reached to a video which was from a different trainer, I watched his video and then was going to close the app as mentioned above (used to get bored). And then right just before closing his video your video of first lesson turned up on the screen, I clicked on it and when i saw that it was of more than 20 mins. so thought to close it because it was around 2a.m and was feeling bit sleepy, but then I decided to watch it and even I can't believe it that I completed your two videos back to back of more than 40 mins. And now I am in love with this GURU 😊 It's not just about the talent you have but You are a Great N Pure SOUL too. I really wish you a good, healthy n long life. Iv studied western harmony and musical theory extensively, but there’s nothing out there that teaches the Indian Hindustani raags and approach as methodically as you do. Thank you for these lessons, very grateful for these and you also sing well.

Bidisha, I find your lessons superb and excellent. I just started learning Hindustani Classical just at the time when I am retiring from my long professional successful career which includes teaching at highest level of other profession. I can sing just by listening but I want to sing with perfection and with confidence knowing which notes I am using. I grew up in music as my mother had been a very successful singer of Bengali adhunik, folk, bhajan, Geet songs but I never took any lesson from her which I now regret. I had many opportunities in the past but did not look at it as I only focussed on my profession. Wonderful teaching technique. Didn’t know alaap does not need rhythm. Learnt why khaali is named khaali. Was able to follow the logic of teen taal thanks to the very clear demonstration of how to follow the beat. You are already at the pinnacle of your profession, since you are a wonderful teacher. I completed my B Muse in vocal from bhatkhande sangeet vidyapeeth long back. But due could not pursue masters due to health issues for which my Guruji gifted me a violin so that I can continue learning classical music. I am a deciple of Minati Khound ma'am who is the disciple of Pandit VG Jog. Now after 5 years of gap I am trying my hands in violin and your videos are so enlightening that I have started singing these Ragas again. You are superb. Love from Assam.

Hi Bidisha, my name is Rina from UK. l am so glad to find you. I just lost my Mum, l was very down, l was reflecting my Mum’s life, music was the top most things in my Mum’s life. She was a radio singer in lndia long time ago. So l was listening some of my Mum’s recording, than l was going through my Mum’s things such as music notes, Harmoniam, which she has had gifted me last year. I never thought l will learn music or play Harmoniam.
But today is my Mum’s celebration of life l was own my self, l couldn’t do much, didn’t invite any of my family and friends, because in Uk it is still Lock Down. So l phone few friends and did a Zoom prayers and singing. All of my friends saying how good was my Mum’s singing, and they said l should carry on singing.
I am very blessed, l think l found , l can’t explain how happy I am, to be your student.

I am kind of a bad bathroom singer, who never did any practice or training, infact used to get bored when heard about the techniques of music. But today suddenly i thought to check on TH-cam, and reached to a video which was from a different trainer, I watched his video and then was going to close the app as mentioned above (used to get bored). And then right just before closing his video your video of first lesson turned up on the screen, I clicked on it and when i saw that it was of more than 20 mins. so thought to close it because it was around 2a.m and was feeling bit sleepy, but then I decided to watch it and even I can't believe it that I completed your two videos back to back of more than 40 mins.
And now I am in love with this GURU 😊
It's not just about the talent you have but You are a Great N Pure SOUL too.

Iv studied western harmony and musical theory extensively, but there’s nothing out there that teaches the Indian Hindustani raags and approach as methodically as you do. Thank you for these lessons, very grateful for these and you also sing well.

I find your lessons superb and excellent. I just started learning Hindustani Classical just at the time when I am retiring from my long professional successful career which includes teaching at highest level of other profession. I can sing just by listening but I want to sing with perfection and with confidence knowing which notes I am using. I grew up in music as my mother had been a very successful singer of Bengali adhunik, folk, bhajan, Geet songs but I never took any lesson from her which I now regret. I had many opportunities in the past but did not look at it as I only focussed on my profession.
So to speak you are my first formal teacher in music and I hope I shall make it successful even at this age and stage of my career.

Wonderful teaching technique. Didn’t know alaap does not need rhythm. Learnt why khaali is named khaali. Was able to follow the logic of teen taal thanks to the very clear demonstration of how to follow the beat.
