    I just got my passport yday o. What’s so crazy is that I did my biometric the last week in October. I paid £120 for “fast track” and $106 for the passport. It was not an easy experience. There’s no such thing as fast track. Also don’t get me started on the staff. I pray one day things will change in that place.

    Awww Tosin, so sorry you had to go through all of this and with your daughter too. Could not help laughing a bit though cos it is crazy there. I was at the Nigeria house some 3 weeks ago too to renew my passport. It was so chaotic, I kept expecting "Gala & la Caserra' hawkers to stroll by me any moment 😅😅. Literally felt like I was in Ikeja.
    All I kept thinking to myself was "The Nigerian government is not the problem, its the Nigerian spirit that is the issue. Its an actual thing that makes a mess of simple things. 🙃 We need a true renewal of mind.
    Oh btw, I got my special delievery envelope from some dude hanging around the door that was also selling postal orders. Heard he's been there for over 5 years 😅😅😅 Dodgy but convenient . May God bless Nigeria. Still love my country sha 🥰
    Ps: Great video as usual, welldone!!

    Hi Tosin
    It just a shameful things that we had to go through alot of stress from our own people. I had same experience last year with my baby when she was just 10 months I wanted to get her Nigeria passport as well because she has a Red one already I travelled all the way from Manchester . That day I was so angry because almost both the male and female there does not have good manners of talking and approach, every single person that goes there always have something to say about them. They really need to learn and unlearn good ethics of their job.

    This is so weird but we had a similar problem this year in April. We couldn't pay online, no appointment dates on their website so they suggested walk-in to us which we paid $120 for, extra money for filling the form at their office and they sold their envelope to us too 🤦‍♀️ then this man was rude and he also got physical with us for challenging how we were being treated. It was a mess! We spent over a thousand dollars to get our passport renewed in Atlanta this was including flight fees and Uber.

    Sometimes, you don't even go inside that same day because the queue is something else plus workers come extremely late

    To do a change of name on your Nigerian passport in the uk, all you need is a copy of your marriage certificate, a copy of the data page of your husband’s Nigerian passport and all the other documents needed to apply for a new passport. Just make sure you filled the form online in your new surname before going for biometric. No need for any news paper publication or anything of such here in the uk.
    And as you know if one is not yet a British citizen, your Nigerian passport is a major form of identification and can be used to do your change of name on all other documents in the uk including residence card. Probably with a deed poll too though.

  • @oredapofalomo7019
    @oredapofalomo7019 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hi Tosin, this process is the same as in Canada, so stressful. However, if you have your newspaper application and sworn affidavit, you can change your name while in the U.K. You just need the stated docs, your marriage certificate, old passport and a letter from your husband stating he is in agreement. This is what I did and my passport was changed to my married name and I did this in Ontario.

    • @TosinAlabi
      @TosinAlabi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @oluwaseunayanniyi6459
      @oluwaseunayanniyi6459 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are based outside Nigeria, you don't need the newspaper advert and high Court affidavit, instead you provide a statutory evidence of change of name which can be done by a solicitor in the UK. The information is on the immigration website

    So sorry for the inconvenience. You see Nigeria, we will continue to pray for her. Even as we don't live in Nigeria, we still get affected. So far we still have Nigeria in our hearts, these things will get to us.
    Congratulations on your baby, haven't watched your videos in a long while. Compliments of the season.🌹❤️🤗🎊

    Tosin, you can change your name in London if it’s on the basis of marriage. The last I heard, they only do it on the basis of marriage. You need your marriage certificate, consent letter from your husband and some other things I can’t remember now. I did mine in 2019.

    • @abimbolak
      @abimbolak 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I did it in September 2021 and got it done. Though I paid fast track they said because I was changing my name it wasn't fast track and had to come all the way back to trafalgar Square when I didn't receive my passport after 5 days and say what was happening I need it to fly in two day. Only for them to then say they will do it and post it for the next day. I then said I needed it for my pcr test and because I do not live in London a guy said I should wait. Thenaybe 2 hours later my name was called and they gave me my passport in person (though I had paid for the passport to be posted) 😒

  • @patiencech5639
    @patiencech5639 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Regarding the fast tracking my husband that applied he received it ( 2 days later ) but we live 50 minutes away from London with a fast train. This is to say, that I believe location matters with the tracking. My husband had similar experience with the waiting time and appointment

    Oh my goodness, sorry for the stress. For reference i live in Italy, i think Nigeria embassy in Italy is the worst of all. I had an horrible experience this year, same queue outside and getting inside they cease everyone phone. If you don't allow them to collect your phone, they will send you out. I was frustrated, stressed and cried no stop too because am very emotional when am stressed unnecessary. Nigeria embassy here in Italy block their website so that anyone can't book online, you have to find someone that work there and pay them. As an adult i paid 430€ to renew my passport 😭 but it's well. I pray that one day we get better on how we treat our own citizens.

Only time I had issue was when my passport wasn't sent more than 6months because I paid someone to send it to me because I didn't want to make a trip back to Rome, asides that, the last time I renewed, it was a walk in the park.

    So sorry about all the hassles Nigerian House gave you. Na there way but we hope for that change by God's grace.
    I just wanted to say you don't have to go to Abuja to change your name to your husband's name. I did mine I the UK about 6years ago when I I married. The only thing I'm not sure of , is if the marriage was contracted here or not. We legally got married here in the UK and did all other bits in Nigeria at a later time within thesame year. You only need a letter of consent from your husband duly signed by him too.
    I hope you get yours sorted soon. Regards.

    U waited for "just 3hrs"... that's priority VIP service time-frame in Nigeria... people wait for 3days in Nigeria (after paying and sorting) to get government services. U r lucky one of the male staff did not give u the "madam, I have a woman like u in the house" speech. What's wrong with officially making the postal envelopes available in-house at a stand alone cost or, as part of the total cost of the passport application? Ordinarily, u'll think thats room for improvement right? Wrong! In Nigeria, it's called an "Office" and designed to achieve just two things. (1) For collecting (bribes). (2) If they (paying public) refuse to comply with number 1, frustrate them. Spillover of a Terrible government indeed.
