Cillian Murphy’s latest movie, Small Things Like These, is based on a novel by Claire Keegan. The book highlights the horrific experiences that occurred in Ireland’s Magdalene Laundries and Mother and Baby Homes.
In 20th-century Ireland, these homes were regularly used to house women who had become pregnant outside of wedlock, where the baby was often given up for adoption without the mother’s consent.
This movie also reunites Cillian with some old friends from his very first role in the play Disco Pigs. Small Things Like These stars his Disco Pigs costar Eileen Walsh and playwright Enda Walsh, who adapted the novel Small Things Like These into a screenplay.
Matt Damon was also inspired to co-produce the movie, having heard about it while working with Cillian in the Christopher Nolan blockbuster Oppenheimer.

It is worth listening to the book as read on Audible. It has been beautifully done and is really a gorgeous book. Her other titles, also on Audible, are as good.
