Good review buddy. If you buy IHG points when they have a 100% bonus sale then it makes sense to redeem them. We were there the same time as you. We redeemed 33000 points per night. However 2021 Christmas Eve is either unavailable or 65000 points. I have a feeling they have wised up to the idea of what people are doing. The service overall was about 6/10. We were initially dumped into a room on the first floor facing the lagoon(not great as zero view, well a view of a wall). The toilet was blocked after the first day and the room was dark and claustrophobic. We eventually got moved to the fourth floor facing beach and pool the following day. A total contrast of rooms! A lot larger and renovated rooms. We saw a couple putting down towels at 7am daily.(I had fun with my long range camera). They would then disappear for 3-4hours leaving the towels on sun lounger. They know who they are 🙄. The food was hit or miss plus some staff literally demanded a tip. The waiter in this video is one of them. A beautiful resort make no mistake but slightly let down by staff demanding tips(although there’s a $9 per day resort fee). Yes the drinks are expensive but well worth it. If you are an IHG Platinum Ambassador member, remember to get your free drinks vouchers or $20 dollar credit. I totally forgot and the front desk didn’t remind me. I was over excited with travel and the heat and a new member so didn’t think to ask at the time. They promised to send points instead but 10 months on nothing from the hotel management team. It’s not a big deal as Iv got freebies from other hotel stays which has evened itself out. Oh yea always double check your bill when you check out and expect to sign for everything when purchasing food and beverages! Keep a copy of receipts as they try to throw in some random charges at check out. Pay in cash/card at the point of sale if you can and keep those receipts. Remember these hotels are independently owned and are using the IHG name.
Tyvm for commenting. Sorry about getting a bad room but glad it got sorted. I thought I saw some sun reflection from the 4rth floor one day hrmm was that you and your camera? J/K lol. I hate when people claim chairs but never use them. We walked along the whole beach and if we used a chair it was only for 30 or 50 minutes and those people denied a chair for someone else, sucks ;( We usually use IHG points or certs or like you mentioned buy points when on sale. This time we used capital one card with a 10x promo in combo with hotel.com. That's over now. You put out some good points for everyone to note, ty. Hi there, and thanks for watching and your comment. I thought the food quality for breakfast at the IHG was really good IMHO. When comparing to lets say a Caribe Solaris the IHG breakfast is a couple levels above.

How was snorkeling? Did you rent a car?
Tyvm! We didnt rent a car, we walked downtown and it took 20 minutes at most. We didnt snorkel but it's entirely possible here. The beach in front of the property was excellent and you can walk down to all the others super easy. Food was tasty too. Enjoy your vaca if you go!

I may have missed it but how was transportation from airport to hotel?
We used CARM transport. Company. We pre arranged to be picked up at the airport then they dropped us off at the Presidente and they picked us up at the Caribe Solaris for our return. They were well worth the few extra bucks. Avoiding the taxi cabs.
I am looking to go to cozumel in Dec. Can anyone recommend the nicest hotel to stay in ?
The Intercontinental or the palace. I've been to the IHG there, it's nice. But the swim area is limited.
Water temperature ok to dip in?
Yep it was pretty warm in the december time frame.
have you gone to other hotels in Cancun?
I've been too, Royal Caribe Solaris, Presidente, Beachscape Kin Ha Villas, and the Grand Oasis.
Οκ but i have to say that Greece has much better places and islands than Cancun. I had visited Cancun a few years before in a vist including south-east Mexico
@@MilesMiser just curious, or of those that you’ve visited which did you prefer most?
@@ReginaDiva87 The food was better at the IHG, but it wasn't all inclusive so it cost more over all. The Caribe Solaris was all inclusive but the food wasn't as good as the IHG. But I always found something to eat. The beach was calmer at the IHG. but besides these things I still liked the Caribe the best. Just by a narrow margin. I didn't have to worry about food costs and I liked the waves at their beach. Thanks for commenting!
Do you know How much do they hold on your card for incidentals?
I belive that they did ask for a cc at checking in for incidentals.
