- On October 10, 2019 the family of Oscar Brown, Jr. launched the Official TH-cam Channel dedicated to his music and artistic legacy. This will serve as a beacon for the activities and discoveries centered around the Oscar Brown, Jr. Archive Project (OBJ AP).
Known for his groundbreaking album *Sin & Soul*, Brown performs classics like 'But I Was Cool,' 'Work Song,' and the lively 'Dat Dere' live. Don’t miss his rendition of the iconic 'Signifyin’ Monkey.'
This Ed Sullivan performance highlights why Brown Oscar Jr. remains a legendary voice in jazz and spoken word, paving the way for future generations of artists, including button poetry pioneers."
The OBJ AP has accelerated as a result of support from Dan Logan of the Revada Foundation. His initial philanthropic support was established in 2018. An Artists Residency was developed for Maggie Brown and Africa Brown to work as community partners at the Reva & David Logan Center for the Arts. The Residency supported the digitization, transcription and presentation of OBJ’s works utilizing the facilities and staff support at the R & D Logan Center for the Arts on the University of Chicago campus. This support has granted the two Brown sisters an opportunity to energize their on-going work to preserve and present the works of their iconic progenitor. The Logan Center Residency was conducted from August, 2018 thru June 2019.
