Disney MGM Studios Backlot Tour Special Effects Section 1991

Here is another brief clip from MGM Studios. In the early days of the Backlot Tour, after the special effects demonstration in the water tank, you were escorted into the special effects buildings. You would walk in on the second floor and look down on the cast member giving a talk about special effects for movies. This first room was stuffed with props from all kinds of movies, Disney mostly, of course. After that, you were walked into the demonstration room where once again, you would be looking down on the cast member. in 1991, the demonstration was from Honey I Shrunk The Kids. They would take a few children volunteers and place them on the prop bee and have them act out that they were flying. There was a blue screen behind them and you would see them cut into the movie on monitors they had up on the wall. It was great fun. I was asked to participate a few years later when it was set up for 101 Dalmatians. I acted out a scene on a bicycle. After this section you went through the prop house and onto the tram for the rest of the tour. Unfortunately, in later years, this awesome section of the tour was eliminated and you would walk straight into the prop room and onto the tram from the water tank.
