Had the privilege of singing background vocals on this song, written by Ross Vannelli (Gino's brother).

Dear Roger this is a wonderful track. Do you remember the band line-up? (maybe you on the bass?) A great hug and congratulations!

@@albertomaieli Ross Vannelli (Gino's brother) wrote and produced this song for the movie Impulse. I only sang background vocals. Ross played and programmed all of the keyboards, but I don't know who played guitar.

@@rogerfiets362 Thanks for your reply, Roger. I think the song is really amazing and all of you did a great job. Who knows, maybe Ross Vannelli, reading these messages, will tell us the story of this piece one day... A sincere hug.

I can't find lyrics anywhere. Do you seem to have them somewhere written? :P

Posted this comment at another video (th-cam.com/video/wyRosnwO_mg/w-d-xo.html ), maybe following of interest from the post production side.
Something Steve Huey left out, as I was part of the event; a single 'Everybody Needs Someone' by Kim Carnes, was written and produced by Ross Vannelli. I was in the room when Kim called to thank us for working on this project. It was put out by Warner Brothers and Distributed by Ossum Possum Inc.. At some point after a few projects for OPR, I closed my Ad Agency; Lone Wolf Promotions down and became creative projects director at OPR, creating this Cassette Single and CD covers, and others. It was a first (I was told) that Tower Records offered to carry something from an Independent. In a time when CDs were basically silver, I used a Hot Pink over the entire CD imprint with a Heartbeat Line going across it. Of course the printer screwed the pooch on that one. Angle was wrong running uphill, even though I used register marks to align the color and Black. Dum Dums, but they loved printing my work.
For the cover, the shoestring operation was so tight we only had one lace (joke - rimshot). Compact Disc Cover was actually photocopied. I personally hand glued each flap over. Kim gave us two photos to work with. CD was used for Promotional (airplay) and maybe a run of 2,000 - 5k cassettes. Had two versions of the song. 2nd was Movie Version.
Cassette has her in full color sitting on chair. I liked the warmth it exuded. Some may not like it. The other B&W was used for promotional 8 x 10 of her sitting on steps.
This single was used in the movie Impulse starring Theresa Russell. WB gave us the project so late, and jackbite Clint was blackballing Sondra who directed the movie. Little did I know of any of this at the time. OPR owner D.J. W. got 86+ radio stations to Add it. We got it to No. 38 Jul 27, 1990 on the A/C chart. Mariah was No. 1.
Creating the cassette cover filmwork, I started Friday evening, went non-stop with no sleep, Sunday about 3 am shipped from SFO post office. WB had it in their hands Monday morning. They were blown away I turned it around that fast. Takes them months. Also sent four-color mini-poster. Please don't ask for anything, I only have like one copy each of my work. Back in early 1990s, I was creating all the negatives and positives. There was no direct printing back then. We also put out a 45 record. Owner had also released a 45 from another band with proceeds going to Amber Swartz-Garcia, who was abducted.
It was cool to sit in front row watching Impulse when released in theaters. VHS came out much later. OPR did not make it into the credits of that movie. Jamie Lee Curtis was also in movie of same title, same time. It did better, as there was no control by Clint Eastwood.
Owner of OPR was told to make money from three of the 20 projects, or close down. Maybe I'll finish the book 'Death of an Indie' someday and tell the rest. Then again, who cares. Long time ago.

Thank you Kim Carnes for this beautiful ballad. You are truley an amazing singer and the composition is wonderful aswell. For those who have been broken hearted to many times this is an ideal song to reflect on. Kim Carnes is from California the state with the best climate of the United States. I lived there for about a year or so and was fascinated with the climate, the food (especially the ribs, lobsters and the restaurant Souplantation for people who follow a diet. Wish i could have seen the Lakers play. Kim must have seen the Showtime Lakers in the 80s. The team with the best fastbreak game of all times. Many thanks.to Kim and California.

Tu hijo. Javier.
