Passion Aviation Now, how does the carberator heat work? Is there anything I should know about engine management on landing. I'm about to start taking lessons (Hopefully) In this aircraft. So I wanted to get used to some of the things this way when I start it will be abit eaiser.

NatesCast Well basically it prevents or clear carburetor icing which could occur on a hot summer day on the ground ,or while your in the air,the principle of its operation is very easy,it consists of a movable flap or valve which draws hot air into the engine intake, the hot air is drawn from like a metal plate around the exhaust manifold. you usually would check your carburetor every 15 to 20 mins in flight to make sure you don't have carb ice, and always when descending for the intention of landing or just changing to a lower altitude you would always turn the carburetor on.also when your in clouds its a good idea to turn it on but i doubt you ll be doing any IMC now : )
