Lived in Cheyenne for 8 years at the end of the last century. Loved it, the state and the people. If it wasn't so windy and cold in the winter I would have stayed. Looking at how things turned out, I probably should have stayed!

Spent time every summer of my childhood & beyond in Wyoming. My Grandfather farmed sugar beets in Basin & Moved to Greybull when he retired. The old farm in Basin is now the golf course. He was on the crew that put the railroad tracks through Wind River Canyon. That was probably in the depression years. He was born on a cattle ranch in Montana & around 1920 he & his brother drove the herd down to Wyoming & his family settled somewhere near Jebo which is now a ghost town. Still have many cousins in the area. When I was a kid we got to got to the big frontier days rodeo in Cheyenne. I'll never forget that. Thank you for the memories. Funny thing is every fall in the 70's my grandparents would stop to visit us in Kansas on their way to Parker Arizona for the winter, then stop in the spring for another visit on their way back. Small world.

A native of Cheyenne, My dad worked for Union Pacific till about 1960, at that train yard, was laid off when U.P. sent everything to Omaha, no other work, so we moved to California. Still my home town.

Love that museum, especially the photos and the detail of the miniature town and layout! Cheyenne looks so peaceful too. Going to smaller cities and taking in some of the museums and history, atmosphere, tranquility, etc, is such a treat to me ... because I live in the city (Dallas), so I alwayz like to get away from the city when I can, and go to the smaller towns/ cities ... been all over Texas though. Thanks

I really enjoyed seeing inside the capitol building. (And none of the statues were defaced, unlike here in California.). The railroad museum was cool too, especially the model railroad setups. Thanks for taking us along.

scale modelling is almost a disappearing art; massive time and skill involved, and a great teaching tool to learn "scale", but it's fast becoming like real trains: a lost art.

If you get to California you need to see the Railroad Museum in Sacramento. I was blown away. They had several steam train engines and others in the building.

While moving to Spokane WA in 2016, we stayed at the Super 8 Motel & ate at Outback Steakhouse that you past by on your way out to get on I-25. Fun trip with a 26' U-haul pulling a trailer with our SUV on it. Couldn't do much sight-seeing. Hate I missed the train station museum. Oh well, I got to visit it 4 years later thanks to you. Enjoy your vids.

I tried to get a train out of there in 1965 to go to Denver to get a plane home to Baltimore but the trains only ran East-West. It was snowing like crazy and I ended up taking the Colorado and Southern out of a train yard North of town. I was student at Univ. of Wyoming in Laramie. The old stone building looked the same then. What the "Hell on Wheels" TV series and you'll get more history of Cheyenne.

Cliff always avoided anyplace he thought there were no semi precious stones to look for, (Cliff my rockhound).. lol So was he wrong about Wyoming then or not? Somebody here suggested Buffalo Bill Museum, is there one, &were you able to catch it this trip? Cliff would have loved train museum especially model train setup! That is amazing, very real looking... Be well, Russ..

Have not been to Cheyenne since 1974. Enjoyed the road and Capitol tour. Sadly I did not remember much. We had a Gibson's then Kmart came in and we were in the big time. Had a old hardware store one block off east-west main drag you drove down where the floor boards were so worn the wood was mounded up around the nail head and they had the proverbial silver dollar nailed to the floor for newbees to try to pack up.

Thoroughly enjoyable video coming from a train buff Australian who lived and travelled through the USA in the 80's in my 1969 VW campervan from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego in South America. I therefore enjoyed your recording driving along the interstate and through Cheyenne city. Beautiful Capitol building. Magnificent railroad museum and great layout. My train club is building a huge layout in an old railway station in Adelaide South Australia which you can see in my TH-cam channel Train Lord. Check it out for the train buffs.
