You’ve made so much progress John. The rigging, although fiddly, is very satisfying as you progress. Very rewarding when completed. I view the rigging as the most important third of the whole build. It’s also the functional decoration that gives a sailing vessel it’s true identity. The addition of an authentic piece of timber from HMS Victory is something to treasure. How fitting that you have the opportunity to use it on your model. Superb 👏🏻
Thank you Mike, that’s why I’ve taken my time, I’ve wanted to make a quality rope for the rigging after 4 years of building I don’t want to Spoil it now
That’s really amazing John .. Tony is a star to send you a piece of history from the actual HMS Victory .. your build gets more impressive with every update … it’s truly a work of art & your skills are there for all to see … thank you so much for posting these videos. Having visited The Victory many times over the years .. from when I was a child up to when my kids were younger .. it’s really is an iconic ship & and your model really is a miniature marvel !
Hi John, I did watch your live update but was being told by the boss she was in a hurry to get the shopping done🙁 Anyway I'm pleased the wood met your approval and you can get a bit of use from it. I only wish I had found your channel a couple of years ago, you could have incorporated more of it into your model. I look forward to your future uploads and progress on your build. All the best Tony
Great work John. I feel your pain. I was amazed (and frustrated) when I built my Endeavour how a couple of millimetres can effect your rigging. I had rigging lines touching spars but managed to sort it all out in the end.
Cheers Robert, it’s because when you get to the rigging stage, builders could have been building the hull for years. So it can be very frustrating, when more rework is required
That was a nice gesture by Tony. It'll be great to use a bit on the model. Will you leave the pieces you use 'raw' (i.e. not painted/varnished)? It'd make the genuine Victory timber stand out & become an even bigger talking point than the whole ship, lol!
fabulous piece of work , going to be starting my 1/100 heller Victory build again, the decks were missing from the kit but they arrived from Heller yesterday after waiting 7 months.
Do you have John McKays book? It does show that one rear port in-line with the mizzen. Thankfully, I haven’t got up to there yet. Nice to have real wood fitted to the ship to incorporate into your build.
It's coming along nicely John I like the added details you have made, I'm sorry I missed your stream looking forward to the next one cheers from Dennis 👍

Cheers Steve, I bet it’s mostly the keel that’s original and not much else mate

Hi Greg, yes it’s holding a peace of are history in my hands
Maybe you could use that nice piece of Victory wood as front part of the display stand…
Hi Manuel, yes that’s I good idea my friend
Thank you. I think this would give this wood piece quite literally a nice „connection“ to the place it is coming from.
I totally agree Manuel
Well she's looking amazing and you are very lucky

Just thinking out loud....what about a small piece of brass to signify the place where Nelson fell, just as on the actual deck.
Hi geno, I would like to also build a cross section of hms Victory, with the location of where nelson fell
