Thresher Sharks, Malapascua, Philippines

Diving in Kimud Shaol, one hour's boat ride from Malapascua Island, north of Cebu.
This is the only place in the world to see Thresher sharks with any consistency, as they typically live at around 1,600 feet. Kimud Shoal and Monad Shaol are cleaning stations the sharks visit early mornings, which means getting up at 5am to see them.
The Thresher shark stuns its prey by using its elongated tail as a whipping weapon.
They have been listed as vulnerable to extinction by the World Conservation Union.
