I love these spike traps you've done here! I made a drop cage trap using bamboo skewers and popsicle sticks and a tentacle trap tile! My daughter and her husband have a 3D printer and she printed the tentacles for me. I then made a dungeon tile and used clear fingernail polish to melt out a puddle shape. (a technique I got from Jeremy at Black Magic Craft) then superglued the tentacles to the cardboard bottom of the puddle and poured Realistic Resin Water into the puddle area! My son-in-law is our DM and he loved it! Actually, he's loved everything I've made for our D&D gaming! All of it has been things I've learned from you and BMC as well as a couple other TH-cam crafters! I've been an airbrush artist for about 35 years but since losing my vision in my left eye a couple years ago and about 1/3 in my right I don't draw or paint anymore. Since discovering your channel and the others like it I have a whole new art and hobby that I've fallen in love with! Thanks for all your tips, techniques, and inspiration!
Hey Frank, I'm sorry to hear about your vision, but I'm glad you've found a new passion in this awesome hobby! I've also done a tile with tentacles in my Cavern Series... check it out! Yours sounds pretty cool!
I've been crafting stuff for D&D now for about 3 years. Found your channel about three months ago. Since then I've expanded my crafting supplies with Magnets, Diodes, batteries three things I never thought I'd use and for that my players and I say Thank You. You channel has upped my game and look forward to your videos each week.
Ya' know, if you attached this little gizmo to a wood and spring mousetrap, you'd change the whole concept of your D&D games in an instant! Truth told, this was a great video with extensive descriptions of both painting technique and green stuff sculpting. I'm with you on little projects. They are the thing that become your signature on the gaming table. Well done.
Would definitely watch a trap series - I love having a small project option when I'm not up to tackling one of my large builds or don't have that much time - John aka The Angry Dwarf
thanks to your vids, I decided to have a go at sculpting green stuff, thus far I've managed to produce 3 crows, ( one in flight) a Bird of prey in flight a couple of Bats a lot of bones, including a birds skull and a rams skull which I make with left over greenstuff, I have also used my new sculpting skills to bulk up some werewolves I bought, They were a bit scrawny for my liking now they look like something from the Howling. I'm really enjoying this new found skill that I never knew I had. so thanks for that.
Andrew Tate Right on Andrew. Those all sound amazing. I’d love to see them. You can post pictures of them in my Fan Art album on my Facebook page if you’d like.
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT I'm not on facebook . I was but I had my account hacked several times I gave up on it. Some of those things I have made were curing as I typed. the bird pf prey one of the bats and a new crow in flight. The bats I have found to be the most difficult as I haven't got a model as a reference I am currently looking around for one. I used a Reaper flock of crows miniature I bought two years ago as a reference for my crows. mine are slightly larger (Raven?) but they look the part from a distance and close up. I've even positioned one so it looks as if its cawing I've mounted one on a standing stone and one on a skull idol. I don't know what I'm going to mount the flying crow on as it was like the bat and bird of prey an experiment to see if I could do it. I've ordered some procreate clay to go over the top as I've found from research that this take detail better than greenstuff which I've found is pretty awful for that alone a better mixture is with a bit of milliput. that tends to give more detail but still not ideal. But yes I saw your sculpt of the little rat. I thought I needed some crows so I went ahead and just had a go. I'm very pleased with the results. My approach is i mix a bit of greenstuff and milliput first and build a basic armature in the shaped I want let that harden then mix up another batch and add the detail, this has worked for me so far. I am hoping to go on to bigger and better things in the future. my next project I'm going to attempt a Lizard.
Cool video 👍, personally I use the discarded ends of poprivets for spikes ( I'm a steel erector and use thousands of those rivets every year building buildings), they are either stainless steel or aluminum depending on the building package I get them from and are very sturdy so no chance of breaking like tooth picks so unless you are wanting the spikes to appear wooden I think they are much better for use in traps
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT thanks, believe me I get all kinds of use from sheet metal, screws, and various other bits for crafting . It may weigh more but it lasts forever. Once again great video, this would make a great project for anyone starting out in the hobby and spike traps are always great because all the use in game they will see!
I would love to see you do a narrow hallway that can be used in conjunction with a gelatinous cube. Maybe it could be something similar to that scene in Onward.
love the simple materials- great project - your builds are always so clean and precise, providing plans for all your builds!- all the effort is very much appreciated - thanks again for more inspiration - John aka The Angry Dwarf
Great video! I did not realize how versatile the green stuff really is. I am really enjoying the traps vids; gives me a few ideas to make and throw at my players.
Watching your new videos has become my Friday lunch break ritual. Really nice work again my man! The plans are much appreciated too, I’m an Industrial Mechanic so I love having a print to go off of. Keep up the outstanding work.👍🏻
I would be super happy to see anything you decide to build....be it traps, trap doors, sewer holes or just another rat! Love watching your vids and I get to learn different ways of doing the same thing....some of your tips are easier than what I used to do! Would be funny to see you make an outhouse (one of the first things I built for a game many years ago!) 😜
Nice work, bummer about the new floor. I've had a few mishaps like that myself, much to the dismay of my wife lol. Guess that explains why my hobby space has been permanently relocated to the basement lol. One thing about those toothpick "spikes", i can definitely see them giving a nice poke to unsuspecting fingertips if not handled carefully. Another option would be to use dense foam cut into little spikes. Even if the tips curl over time, that adds to the realistic look that they've pierced many a hard piece of armor in their time. Keep up the good work.
This looks fantastic! The only issue I have with it is it feels like the spikes are a little too spread out. Looked like a lot of minis could easily stand between the spikes with no issue. That said it still looks awesome, and I'd love to also see a series on traps.
Here is a cool idea for those spikes walls, have a spike wall room trap with some skeletons stuck on the spikes and if one of the players trips the trap they become trapped in the room and then the spike walls begin to close on them and the skeletons animate while stuck on the spiked walls swing their arms at the players trying to attack them.
I know they aren't necessarily traps, but I'd love to see you do some dungeon devices such as the stocks, guillotine, rack and the like. Ya know...every castle needs a torture room. 😉😁
Amazing as always John love seeing you do what you do best very awesome idea will have to try this one thanks for shareing bee a wile since anyone inspired me to try one of there buields but this is defo one I will try when I get round to it 😊👍
not sure...dummy or a skeleton dressed in armor to look like an adventurer needing help. What would a Goblin make to lure an adventurers to their doom? Something crude but easy to fall for in the darkness of the dungeon.

The little story details make the difference as usual. Plus an opportunity for some color, like you said. In the game, do these fall on the players or is it more of a Death Star trash compactor situation? Fun any way you slice it. Haha.
Nice build, just one little problem. A shield would not be facing out, it would actually be facing the "wall" of the trap. I would give it an 8 out of 10, just for that reason, otherwise it would be 10 out of 10.
Anthony Stike I imagine a soldier holding up the shield in defense of a monstrous attack and getting knocked back into the wall skewering the soldier and shield!
when trying to find what works for the size like when i lay a magnet i put the magnet on the other end of the bit until it matches i would cut a toothpick to do the same here.
