I appreciate this content so much. I just turned the acceptable age to get a phlebotomy job. I have started my job search and I was not expecting it to be this difficult. I have put in so many job applications and hearing back from hiring managers has been a long process. I have had a phone interview and I’m praying to get a call for a in-person interview. I’m watching this video is hopes to manifest a call back🙏🏿
I will keep you in prayer! It can be a lengthy process it took me several months and I finally landed a job. I didn’t give up! Don’t give up! Continue to call. Most companies are looking for 6 months of experience to a year. The only companies that don’t require months of experience is mobile phlebotomy companies where you go out to people’s homes to draw their blood. If you need to get more experience to boost your resume contact the school and ask if you can draw students blood 🩸 to gain more experience and put it on your resume.
Thank you so much! I’m reporting back to let you know that I got a job!! Thank you for this video because I felt really comfortable answering my interview questions. I even threw in some jokes here and there because the interview questions were very similar. I’m so excited for this position and to stick again.
@@saraojut4697 Sara congratulations 🥳 I’m so happy for you and your career! Thank you for tuning in I really appreciate your feedback and update! You go girl!!!!!
I have my first interview with Quest Diagnostic and one with Kaiser tomorrow. I was racking my brain with how the interview would go and what questions they may ask. Thank you for this video. It has been such a big help. God bless you
@@laishasanchez2990 hey:) I’m going to post the questions in a separate video with answers still working on it should be out by next week. So I got the job offer at quest after my job interview with them. Unfortunately I turned them down because I had other options. I chose a hospital job instead. So when I did my online interview it was 2 hiring managers they asked me : 1. Tell us a little about yourself? (I told them about myself) 2. Why should we hire you for this position? (I told them that it’s always a passion of mine to help others and serve our community. By helping others in the process of diagnosing a patient is fulfilling. I have the highest regard for the laboratory because lab tests results is 90-95% how Doctors treat and diagnose their patients) 3. Tell us any problem that happened in your previous job and what did you do about it? (I gave an example of patient wait times before drawing their blood. Many patients are fasting and they get upset if their wait time is long. So I gave an example of that and how I gave positive feedback to calm the patients down) 4. What is most important to you as a phlebotomist? (I told them what’s most important to me is cleanliness and a positive inviting personality. a well-kept laboratory, you should note a clean and orderly workplace. Floors should be free of hazards. Never leave carelessly discarded objects, dropped objects, or spilled material on the floor. Always keep tables, chemical hoods, floors, aisles, and desks clear of all material not being used. Because cleanliness and a positive attitude are the top 2 reasons why a company will get horrible ratings) 5. What do you do if there’s a problem that arises with your co worker? (I told them I had no issues in the past with any coworker and if I did I would immediately tell my supervisor to have a mediation) 6. What is the most important step before you draw blood? Patient Identification:Identifying the patient first name last name and date of birth) 7. What tube test color does a Apt test go into? What tube test color does a cbc test go into? What tube test color is for a chemistry test? What color tube test is for a timed test? And what’s the order of draw for those tests/tubes? Answers/order of draw: APT:Light Blue tube top Chemistry test example a Lipid test: Gold/Tiger top CBC: Lavender tube top Last tube Gray top: Lactic Acid 8. What test tube color goes into a glucose blood test? Gray tube top 9. What do you do when you encounter a hard stick patient? (You offer them water, and if they are limited on their water intake you then get a heel warmer and place it on your draw site and if you ran out of those you get a large glove and fill it with warm water as a heating pad and leave it for 2-5 minutes. Veins should pop up easily.) Those are all the questions I remember and I got hired but turned it down. They also loved my bubbly inviting personality that was a plus for them and the fact I wasn’t nervous. Good luck! You got this!
Can you do a video with the answers to those questions. Would love to have an idea of what my answer should consist of and what order would require me to use a throw away tube.. I'm going to write those questions down myself and come up with a solution so thanks so much! Peer Interview is Wednesday 🤞
If a patient fainted on me, I would remove the needle, put cotton and a band-aid on the punctured sight and gently lay the patients head down while there seated and call for assistance. Not call 911 not necessary, unless the patient fell on the floor and was critically injured.
I don’t really have any experience this is my first interview I’m so nervous. I graduated in may but I took my test last month. I wonder if they will ask me all of these questions
Hi! Do you have any advice for first time phlebotomy interview? I have one coming up and I just finished with phlebotomy certified classes. Please and thank you 😊
Hi dear :) thanks for watching! I recommend going back to school and asking them if they allow to still draw students so you can build up your resume, or applying to mobile phlebotomy jobs. My first job was a mobile Phleb job. If you can look up job agencies for contracts with different employers. Never give up it took me several months to land a job. Rooting for you!
Hi I’m from texas and most phlebotomist that come straight out of school with no experience actually just go to a blood bank and get experience there, although it might not be the best job you can surely increase your skills there.
I am a experienced phlebotomist from the east coast I want to move to LA but I don't have LA license is there a way I can work in LA until I can get my license for LA?
Hi. I applied to Quest and I received an email for Hireview. Did you have to go through this for any interviews ? From what I understand Hireview is some sort of AI interview process. Any tips or suggestions?? Thank you
@hannahwillyerd3517 Well, I'd say not that good because I haven't heard back from them.. It was a bit awkward for me, personally. I'd rather go back to the good old days of face to face interviews with an actual human being. Maybe they will call, who knows.
Hi my dear, I just uploaded a video regarding questions and answers for many companies in California, which includes Quest. And no, the hiring interview process is not AI. It’s either in person or via zoom with real hiring managers. I know this is a little year later I’m sorry. I hope your career takes off.
