Other people have commented something similar, but fyi, pastel comes from the Chinese egg roll. Chinese people were the first one opening pastel shops (pastelarias) in Brazil, adapting the filling to the Brazilian taste. Until now most pastelarias are owned by Chinese or Japanese descendants in Brazil (my family is one of them, they have a pastelaria in Sao Paulo for more than 50 years now).

Ive lived in many cities of China for more than galf my life and have never ever saw or tasted anything remotely close to Pastel.
Must be one of those emmigrant foods. Korea also has a Korean-Chinese cuisine that is specific to Korea only.

I used to live in Nagoya and it's so nice seeing Osu again! I'm not sure of the shop name, but there was this Wagashi shop I used to go to where they had sweet red bean paste wrapped and deep fried in this pancake like batter. It was sooo good, and fluffy and sweet. If you two end up in Osu again and manage to find it, I highly recommend them.

Hello from the Philippines! The pinipig in your halo-halo is pounded or flattened toasted young rice, similar to rolled oats but yummier 😊

If you get back to the popcorn place, try the yellow cheddar cheese popcorn with the caramel popcorn. Take one of each and eat then together. They call it Chicago style. So yummy!! Salty and sweet together 🤤

Aloha Shinichi and Satoshi! I just love the Osu area. Nagoya is totally under rated. We've had layovers and spent the night but never really got to explore the city. It was on our radar for our last trip to Japan and we watched your videos about Nagoya and saw all the food and knew we just had to check it out. We loved it and will totally going back when the Maglev train goes there. We need to spend more time, there was no way we could try everything we wanted to try. I totally wanted to get Tops popcorn but already got Garrets popcorn at the station so next time. Mahalo for sharing!

my Brazilian wife introduced me to these items. A coxinha is a croquette. No big deal imho but my wife raves about them and the guaran is easily replaced by a ginger ale. Lol!

I love your videos, guys! Here, in the region of São Paulo, Brasil, lives a vast population of japanese descendents. The "pastel" is a creation of this "colony". The best "pastéis" are made for japanese people and their descendents. 🥰🥰🥰

You two look more handsome every day! 👍 I always love your walking tours of Nagoya. On this adventure, I found the beef pastel from Ossu Brasil most appealing. Did they have a vegetarian version? The Taiwanese Castella would've been my favorite sweet--mmmmm, strawberries, cake, and cream is hard to beat. Thank you for another fun video. Love to you both. 💙💜

We so need a Halo Halo shop here in my part of FL. I want to eat it so badly. It would be the best thing around these parts all year round due to it mostly being hot almost all year and then all our snow birds will eat it in the winter.

That is interesting as our colored popcorn in the US is just candy coated and colored but it does not usually have flavors. It is usually just a caramel corn, kettle corn, or regular popcorn.

It's just a guess but the crispy things in the Halo-Halo dessert might be waterchestnut pieces. I remember eating a vietnamese dessert similar to this and crispy things inside were water chestnut pieces! Besides that, It's very interesting to such international food in Nagoya! Very great video!!😊😊

Do research the history of Chicken Tikka. Did you know that it was most likely made by Bangladeshis? But this is still being debated.
