- "I have always loved the text to the hymn There’s Wideness in God’s Mercy, written by Frederick Faber. There is a wideness that describes the breadth of God’s mercy and compares it to the wideness of the sea. This stirs up so many images in the mind! My favorite line of the text is in stanza four - For the love of God is broader than the measure of the mind. Sometimes, I think we tend to box God into a corner to fit our world view of things. We tend to think of God in terms of black and white, I’m right and you’re wrong, but God is so much more than we can ever know. God’s love envelops us into a holy mystery that we’ll never fully comprehend. That is what is so powerful about faith. If we could only love others a fraction of how God loves us, we would be more loving in the likeness of the Lord." - Adam Phillips
