I love these vids. I haven't been to US for 5 years...and I'm from the SF area. Seeing these vids gives me the feeling that I'm driving around SF...seeing new business and mods to the roads is cool. It's like a free vacation. Thanks.
I am a road bike rider, I would estimate at 80% of human drivers do not slow-down or make space when passing a cyclers on the road. I am REALLY pleased to see that the FDS creators have programmed FSD to slow-down and make room as it goes around bikers. I totally agree with Omar that self-driving cars will make the roads much safer for everyone.
I was enthralled! FSD in the beautiful City by the Bay; although you make a good point regarding the impressiveness of the software; I need to do an FSD road trip to SF pronto!!
Yeah, and I'm going to put this input before people come on here saying it's some conspiracy about how good it is. I've heard many people say that FSD is only good for California and other places where many Teslas are on their roads. That's not true at all. I live in rural Indiana, and yet, version 12.5 is INSANELY good on country backroads and these random tiny towns in my county. I guarantee Tesla received extremely little data from my area of the country, but it's still amazing here.
Wow, what an amazing drive around San Francisco. Totally impressed with the car constantly adjusting it's speed to what is appropriate. I saw one mistake at 40:28 the speed limit sign has plants growing on it. The car incorrectly read 15mph as 35mph. However it maintained an appropriate speed. Until it read the next speed limit sign correctly. WELL DONE!
I see FSD as a solution for gaining time and rest. People driving to work and from work that are exhausted and paying less attention, now people will be able to take a nap, study, work, game, watch tv, be under narcotics, etc and travelling cheap to their destination in a a clean environmental way! I personally would use it to study during my trip to somewhere and expanding knowledge, as I am young but this is also a perfect way to make sick people travel to a nearby doctor / hospital without having to drive in pain. Elderly people with bad sight, hearing, reflexes. They will be able to enjoy more of their time and fulfil happiness as it should! Being able to visit family more or friends or activities. I am from Belgium and here we have all kind of transportation but our nightlife is kinda dead because public transportation doesn’t ride at night so no one wanna stay up the whole night to take the first train, bus in the morning and taxis are way too expensive. So with this even night life will start to blossom again and give a economic boost to the city and even villages
Was great to see how well FSD is progressing from an investor’s viewpoint in the UK. I think my money’s safe :) Much prefer the commentary format vs music too. Can’t wait for it to come to the UK - I’ll be first in line with my handful of cash.
good luck. even in the US they're hitting red tape about it being level 3 (but mercedes benz can call their failed project a level 3). it's all about the red tape. I have FSD and it'd 100% be level 3 or level 4. its the most advanced system there is.
“There’s a growing number of robots on the road” Good!!! Makes the roadways much safer, less road rage, less accidents. I hope FSD unsupervised robotaxi comes very soon!!
Tesla is so cool and advanced with their autonomy and better than Waymo cuz it’s just cameras and not a bunch of expensive radar and lidar and the cameras aren’t really noticeable. Tesla is just the best
I love FSD but my problems with it are mostly on the highway. We've been traveling this last week and three times the navigation said to take an exit but FSD did not exit. One time I was getting onto a secondary highway,. The navigation said turn right but FSD tried to turn left. The worst thing is when you have an exit lane added that is not very tapered but just appears full width. FSD takes a very sharp right turn and I have to take over because it is going too fast to recover from the sharp turn. The other more minor issues related to speed limits. When I pass from a lower speed zone to a higher speed zone, but the car does not accelerate. Looking forward to the highway component improving.
Omar, you should find a San Fransisco Tour Guide to go with you on one of your rides through his typical routes and have him narrate the whole way instead of talking about the FSD. It is quite relaxing just to watch the videos, it would be fun to learn about San Fransisco (or you could do Hollywood) while taking FSD for a spin. In the future, Grok could do the tour guide talking.
Ya know what would be fantastic! Would absolutely love to see the data behind Tesla’s FSD in real time! Can include a multitude of factors, such as, miles per intervention, potential accident avoidances, and more!
Premiums will. They are based on formulas. If the costs from accidents and other mishaps drop in half, premiums will also drop near half. Very possible costs will drop by 90%
@@graysonwagner1855 At some point in the future one insurance company will start making good offers because of the lower risk of accidents with high level autonomous driving. All it takes is one company to start that trend.
Glad the new update is working for you. I didn't have as much success. Running the new update on a HW4 Model Y, FSD was slow to respond to max speed setting and it went down the wrong road while navigating home for the first time. I recall I had a max speed issue and nav issue with 12.5.1 which was corrected in the 12.5.1.1 update. So experiencing some more regression issues. Hopefully the next update resolves them.
Loving FSD 12.5.X... It sounds counterintuitive but it shines in areas like downtown San Fran and Seattle... But take it the outskirts where there are things like lanes randomly ending, or lanes randomly changing to "turn only" and you will find yourself intervening way way way more often.
Absolutely amazing I'm so impressed, thank you for posting. 6.14 ,(your comment ) I'd worry about my own driving though if i thought it was driving safer than me🤔
I have 12.5.1.1. It sure has made advancements. Though it still is making mistakes for me. For example, I need to take an exit and I am already in an acceptable lane for that exit about a quarter mile away and it starts to signal to the left. I then disengage because I don't have faith in it to go back to the right when there's a car behind me coming up fast. I am wondering if it is a mapping issue. This is in DC/Northern VA.
Also, when it stops, it stops a few feet behind the stop sign/light like it is being too cautious. Additionally, it doesn't know to make a left on to the street that leads to my house. Instead, it wants me to do a u-turn in 1000 feet. Google Maps doesn't have that mistake and I hear that Tesla uses Google Maps as its map for navigation.
Just got my first Tesla Wednesday! 2024 Model Y performance Quicksilver. The two people before me drove off in Quicksilver Y’s also so I think that color is going to help sales. Question though…I put in my home address and it drives me to a house a few blocks away every time. Does paying for Premium connectivity fix the maps or should I figure out a way to get an adapter and use Google Maps? Just haven’t gotten around to signing up for connectivity yet. Thanks for all you do and I appreciate any help you can give on this. Keep up the good work!
Not sure about the home address thing. Maybe check if there is a typo in your home address. If not report your issue in the Tesla app. You can use the wifi hotspot feature on your phone to give your car internet. Doubt it fixes your home address issue. Should work fine without connectivity.
@@fittetube Thanks for the info! I did hear I could use the hotspot for most features so I will try that first. I will send a message to Tesla about the address. It’s definitely typed in correctly. I've seen so many drivers that would learn a lot about good driving from just watching FSD in action. I can visualize a driving school using this for basic driver instruction and training. I wonder if there will be a market selling to other manufacturers although I have a hard time visualizing Ford of GM adding the appropriate screen, camera and computer power, etc. Actually, after some thought, it's sounding like wishful thinking.
