KARPOS SCOTONATA GALAKTICA 1994 2014

This short film tells the story of one of the first routes in the Dolomites where bolts and drills were used in a systematic and thought-out manner. The first ascent, made by Bruno Tassi, Ivano Zanetti and Gianbattista Calloni in 1994, is narrated by one of the first climbers, Ivano. Ivano Zanetti and Manrico Dell’Agnola, a traditionalist at the time, have always been close friends, and that ascent, which Manrico considered irresponsible, threatened to destroy their relationship.
Twenty years later, Manrico and Ivano return under the splendid Scotoni and together repeat the climb that was the source of so much discord and wasted words and ink.
It is a romantic and slightly nostalgic story of two men, no longer young, who tell about a time that is not terribly far in the past, but since which many things have changed. A story relived, in a modern way, thanks to the youthful impetus of one of the most respected and active couples in the Italian climbing community, Sara Avoscan and Omar Genuin, who are filmed by Manrico, assisted by Massimo Faletti, along the key sequences on the face as they very confidently free climb on sight, dancing through sections that reach a difficulty rating of nearly 8a.
